Congratulations!

I am so sorry to hear what you're going through. I hope you have some family and friends nearby to help you get through this. Sure hope you turn the corner on all this real soon. Hang in there!

I had issues too so my Dr prescribed Zofran which really helped. I also learned which foods triggered the nausea more than others and simply stayed away from them.

How much weight did you lose before people noticed?
rs replied to Summer56's topic in The Gals' Room
Probably about 60, mostly when I bought new work clothes in smaller sizes which didn't camoflauge my body as much. pre surgery weight 265. Aug 15 2018 surgery 250. Current 175. Goal 155. -
I'm 9 mos post surgery and I've had alcohol on (several) occasion(s) [emoji57] I haven't noticed that I get drunk any faster but maybe I just have a high tolerance. With my smaller stomach I can't take in as many ounces as before so I have to order doubles to get a similar effect. My drink of choice is vodka based, such as with cranberry juice or grapefruit juice. Ordering a double cuts down the amount of juice which reduces the high calories and carbs. Remember everyone's body is different. I agree with@med28thmed to test some drinking before the cruise. Enjoy!

Bipolar help! People gone through surgery?
rs replied to _kimGA_'s topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am bipolar. Diagnosed 20 years ago. Currently taking lamictal, Zoloft, and gabapentin. Had sleeve surgery Aug 2018. Insurance paid. My psychiatrist and therapist were supportive of the surgery. Surgeon was aware of my meds and I was only asked not to take them the morning of surgery. The issue I ran into was that the first week after surgery I felt so nauseous all the time. Would throw up most of what I ate. Ended up dehydrated and needed fluids introvenously. Because of all this I just couldn't handle taking my meds. I'd get nauseous even thinking about it. Needless to say not taking my meds made everything much worse. Dr gave me Zofran for the nausea which helped, and I made sure to drink enough water each day. Then I was able to tolerate my meds regularly again. Hope reading my story helps. Good luck! -
You look fantastic! Way to go!

You look great! Congratulations! I had surgery the day before you. Pre surgery pre diet 265, nowb178. It feels good and is fun to see myself in the mirror. But I must admit that some days I veer off the healthy road. It's still so surprising and frustrating that I seem to have no physical issues eating unhealthy crap food but often struggle with the much needed protein like meat. I'm trying not to beat myself up too much but I'm getting worried about the honeymoon period ending and the regain possibility. Scares me. A lot.

For those who use unflavored protein powder what do you like it mixed into? I'm not getting in enough protein so my nutritionist suggested I use Unjury unflavored protein powder and put it in anything I can tolerate. I've tried it in soups and in my cereal/milk, but I absolutely don't the texture or taste (even though it's "unflavored" ). Any ideas?

Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: POST-OP Discussion
rs replied to Ylime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good question. I'd like to know what others are doing. I haven't been using my food tracking app in a couple weeks, just because I was out of town for awhile plus extra busy at work so I was thrown off of that routine. I have been eating pretty much the same though so I don't feel like I strayed much from reaching protein goal. I'll continue to watch the scale and see if I feel I need to get back to tracking. My weight loss is certainly slowing down. I've lost 80 since 8-15-18 and wear a size 14 now. I still would like to lose at least another 15-25 lbs to get to a healthy BMI and into a size 10 or 12. -

Crossing my legs has been one of the most exciting NSV for me

After 7 months one of my teammates came up and directly asked me if I had surgery. I paused, then flat out lied and said no. I followed up the lie with truth. My Dr scared me into losing weight plus my Dad died at 58. Said I'm eating significantly fewer calories, tracking on an app, focusing on protein to keep me full, and exercising more. She said that it was inspirational, although she never really said I look good. Guess I just need to be satisfied with the inspirational comment. Most people who have come up to me have said I look good and asked what I've done to lose the weight, but until now no one has mentioned surgery. Wondering if others are thinking it. Regardless, I'm happy I'm keeping this private. #mysecretismine #liar

I realize there are different schools of thought on whether to tell or not to tell. Each person feels differently given their personality, family, friends, life events etc. Regardless it all comes down to respect. Respect for others' decisions and respect for ourselves. We are all fabulous! [emoji8]

I felt it was kinda rude too, especially since the surgery question was the first words out of her mouth instead of saying she noticed I lost weight or anything like that.
