Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: 1 Year Check In
rs replied to Ylime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had my one year post op appt yesterday. Dr is really happy with my overall progress. A year ago I was morbidly obese and now my BMI is in the normal range. My body fat % was 51% and now it is 34%. The improvement is fantastic but he would still like me to get below 30% which is a healthier range. He says I don't need to lose any more lbs, just need to shift the muscle vs fat %. He says to keep doing what I'm doing - focusing on getting in a lot of protein - and he thinks the % should naturally continue to shift toward less fat. Strength training of course would help too, but he believes that each person needs to tailor their plan in a way that works for them and right now it seems I'm on a good trajectory so I shouldn't need any huge changes in what I'm doing. During my physical exam he said everything looked good, and he even commented on my hourglass figure[emoji126] ...not in a creepy way though. Next appt in 6 mos. I'm very proud of myself! -

This is all of us women strutting around in our OOTD 😁

I like this one too. But the other one seems to jump out at me more.

Love love love this outfit!! It looks fantastic on you!! I think this may be my favorite one that you have posted. You look great!

Cute outfit! Congratulations on your promotion! Looking forward to your ootd posts then too.

Siggis for me too. It has more protein than carbs. A lot of the other yogurts have the reverse.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I enjoyed the read. Sometimes I get frustrated by my hum-drum 20 year marriage with two kids. But most of the time I actually like the comfort it brings me.

Ditto. I'm one year out.

Good for you for being mindful of your actions, even if your choices aren't necessarily the best. At least you are aware which is part of the journey. Also very good that you are getting yourself to work out. That is important and will help you as well. Hang in there my dear.

Checking in just to say I care

Congratulations! Exiting milestone indeed!

Sorry to hear it's not really helping. Maybe my nausea isn't that bad in comparison to others because I have a Zofran prescription for only 4mg and it has been a life saver whenever I've needed it. And I only take one. Definitely get help from your Dr. because as you know nausea is miserable to deal with. Best wishes on getting it under control.

No issues for me either

I echo all the comments above. I was very angry too for awhile after surgery. I just kept reading on this site and seeing how all my feelings were normal and that it really does get better. The real page turner for me was the weight coming off. So exciting to have loose fitting clothes, then new clothes in smaller sizes. And compliments from others. Hang in there, and trust us who've been around awhile that it does get better. You've got this!
