Checking in with all the february peeps

Hi. I just had my 3 month appointment. So far so good. I'm down a total of 52 lbs (including pre-op.) Water and protein aren't usually too bad. Water is easier on gym days, but I've been skipping them to do yard work and gardening. Those days I'm not drinking enough, but trying to do better. I let some bad food choices in and plateaued for 2 weeks. Lesson learned. Now I'm back to losing. Energy is better than before, but still not great. I'm just not a high energy person - never have been and probably never will be. Bummer.

    PCOS

I have PCOS and IR. For the first 6 weeks post op, my surgeon took me off Metformin. At 6 weeks, she put me back on a lower dose (pre-surgery it was 1000 mg ER, post-surgery it's 500 mg ER). There was no blood work or issue that led to her putting me back on Metformin, just that that's what she does for her patients. My regular Dr will reassess when I'm closer to goal weight or at my appointment next year. I'm 12 weeks out and have lost 52 lbs (12 pre and 40 post op). PCOS doesn't seem to be slowing down my weight loss. Good luck to you!

    Wow! The cost of Surgery.

The bill for my sleeve arrived this morning. Thankfully out of pocket was only $150, but the total bill was just shy of $47,000.

    Any February Sleevers?

I'm 2.5 weeks post- sleeve and today ate a record high 600 calories. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

    1 Week Post-op

Ha, probably should have thrown in something relevant to the earlier thread. I also have PCOS and understand how hard it is to lose weight. While getting my discharge instructions, my Dr said no more Metformin. She may have meant for the short term, but I really hope its for the long term. I won't miss that! I'm 22 lbs down today - including the 2 week pre-op liquid diet. Good luck!

    1 Week Post-op

I'm one week post-op today. My Dr has me on liquids (plus yogurt, sugar free pudding and strained cream soups) for 2 weeks. After my next appointment, hopefully I'll be cleared for mushy foods. The biggest hurdle right now is fatigue. Everyday I nap for 2-3 hours. Hopefully my body adjusts soon to 500 calories a day and the fatigue goes away. We can do this.

    Any February Sleevers?

Hi all. I survived! Friday was my sleeve day and today I'm home. The Dr didn't find a hernia after all, so that was good. The first couple days were rough, but after the pain meds were adjusted, I'm doing much better. I was also able to get in the whole 8 ounces of protein drink over about 40 minutes. I am so glad i never have to do Day 1 ever again. Ugh. It's good to see so many of us doing wel.

    Any February Sleevers?

Thanks everyone. I really think 5 hours is crazy, but maybe she schedules for any possible problem instead of likely time (so the OR is ahead of schedule instead of behind.)

    Any February Sleevers?

Tomorrow is sleeve day. I'm a little nervous, but mostly ok. Here's a quick question. How long was your actual OR time? The hospital called me last night and said the surgeon blocked off the OR for 5 hours, which seems just crazy. There is a chance she'll do a small hiatal hernia repair also, if she can find it. But 5 hours? What was your experience?

    Any February Sleevers?

I'm on day 4 of my 2 week pre-op liquid diet. So far, down 8 lbs. 2/23 is my surgery date. It is starting to feel real now. Good luck (and quick healing) to everyone.
