hi I'm about 10 days post-op. I feel like ever since I had surgery I've done nothing but regret it. the more I think about things the more I start to feel like this was a big mistake. I've been having chest pressure when I drink or eat anything. I'm on soft foods and no matter what I eat it feels like it there's just a huge lump in my chest. Then I begin to feel like I want to burp but nothing is coming up. I'm so thirsty and want to just take two big chugs of water and I can barely take 2 sips without it feeling tight. I had a hiatal hernia repair also with my sleeve. I've been getting depressed because right now I feel hopeless . I don't ever see myself having a normal sip of water again....i knew I'd have to eat smaller portions but will I ever be able to finish a whole damn sandwich again? This feels like torture and I'm terrified that things won't get better. I want to have a normal life and now I feel I just screwed myself. To not even be able to drink normally again? What have I done? 😥😢 My question is, can u drink normally now? Can you have a small plate of food or are you still eating like a baby bird? When or does it get better? Does this pressure from drinking or eating virtually nothing ever go away? (I can also describe the feeling like a stuck burp)... I didn't do this so that I can have a tablespoon of food every meal. I just wanted portion control.... but not like this....it's torture...I'm so sad and regretful Please tell me it gets better

Almost 3 weeks out and food still getting stuck
Jmh04416 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
3 weeks in Monday post op. I can only take a few bites if anything and no matter how much I chew or even if it's something pureed it just feels stuck right between my breast towards the bottom. Only thing that doesn't feel like that is liquids... I mean a small lil bite of mashed taters and u feel it first bite.... Is this normal? Do you still feel it? Sincerely, Johanna -
I have been smoking since I left the hospital and I'm fine actually it helps with the crappy feeling tremendously! Sincerely, Johanna

10 days post op! Plus a hiatal hernia repair to boot. I didn't have heart burn the first week but the past 3 days I've had heartburn on and off! Seems like it's worse when I'm laying down.... Does the heartburn go away? Did u even have heartburn? Is it true that if u have heartburn a lot after vgs u may have to get bypass? Sent from my HTCD160LVWPP using BariatricPal mobile app

Thank you so much! Hearing these words of encouragement and hope is really helping! I did this surgery to help with portions etc but not to completely give up on all the foods I love! Or even water! There is a fine line between eating healthy and in moderation and depriving myself and I refuse the latter and don't really think it's healthy.... Least not for someone like me Sincerely, Johanna

May I ask what you mean by adding a stick? Sincerely, Johanna

Prescribed by your Dr? Or over the counter? Sincerely, Johanna

Thank you.... You all are really instilling alot of hope.... I guess 2 weeks post op it's hard to see the pros due to all the crappy feelings of surgery.... I'm excited to see what life holds.... Just don't want to completely not enjoy a meal or rice etc... I'm Puerto Rican lol we love our food and that will never change.... I just hope that smaller portions doesn't turn into not eating my Hispanic food etc Sent from my HTCD160LVWPP using BariatricPal mobile app

Thank you so much! I didn't realize this post posted twice lol my apologies, but I really am starting to feel more hopeful thanks to all you who have commented on either post. I guess I'm just going through the normal regret stage... Just so hard... I feel like maybe I wasn't fully prepared to have it and now I'm learning all kinds of things I maybe should have been awate of Sent from my HTCD160LVWPP using BariatricPal mobile app

What has helped you?

I have not been keeping track honestly....I doubt Im making that....I'm so constantly thirsty but can't drink really....4 sips and I'm feeling that pressure again...I don't know if that means I'm full or if I'm hurting the sleeve regardless I feel like I physically can't drink that. I'm so terrified of causing a leak or bursting my Staples from consuming too much that I have been grossly under drinking and eating
-
Right now for me it definitely is like 2 small sips and I have to wait like 5 mins before my next one.....it's awful

Thank for responding, I'm trying to hang in there....I guess if I could just drink more water....is it easier with a straw? I see that's what alot of ppl ere use...is it for the pressure?
