I had a catheter so I never knew I was peeing but I was! Once they took it out I had no problem at all.

When you were on the Pre-op diet....
Berry replied to susansilver's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Susan, I found it extremly difficult to cook for my family! In fact, I couldn't even sit down with them at the table while they ate! I bought a lot of things that I didn't like that I knew they would so it didn't bother me as much. I'm not much of an italian eater so I bought them ravioli and tortilini which they love. Plus t.v. dinners helped as well. My DH did a lot of the cooking thank goodness! -
Does anyone know a good website to print out a food log? I need to start keeping track of my protein intake and I would like a nice log to write down my daily food choices.

HI Mary, I've lived in Plymouth for 11 years. I've never been to N.Easton before. How long does it take you to get to BI?
-
I had called Kelly Boyer and she said it was fine especially since I wasn't eating anything else because I'm a picky eater. Since I started the pre-op diet on March 5th, I've lost 23 lbs. My BMI has already gone from 41 to 38. It was nice when Kelly said that as of right now I wouldn't qualify for lapband surgery since my BMI has gone down!! That was nice to hear! Sherri

I added the potato in about 10 days after surgery. You will need to make them runny at first, almost like a cream of wheat consistency and then as you get use to them you can slowly make them a little thicker.

Hi Mary, I added in mashed potato to my diet. I started out with plain, runny instant potato. Once I knew I could tolerate that I bought the flavored instant potato (garlic & cheese and herb & butter). Those were good. After a while I couldn't stand the instant so I started making real potato. It was a nice change. I had a 1/2 cup for lunch and a 1/2 cup for dinner along with my Protein. Where are you from Mary? I'm from Plymouth. Sherri

After I ate today I had a strange feeling in my chest and my left shoulder started to hurt. Is this an indication of eating too much?
-
Hmmm, well this is certainly a mystery! I hope you are able to figure this out!
-
Do you still have your tonsilles (sp?)? Maybe you need them out?
-
I'm just about 3 weeks post-op and I started having the back/shoulder/neck pain on the left side again. Is this normal to have it return?
-
Once you get to the mushie stage is it normal for the weight to start creeping back up?? I'm still on protein shakes, mashed potato, etc. and I've gained back 3 lbs in a week. I'm getting nervous!! I don't want to gain all the weight I've already lost. Do I need to start adding in exercise now to keep it down?
-
I'm glad I'm not alone Eclipse!! I feel like I can eat like I did prior to surgery, no restriction at all. I don't have to take small bites or chew, chew, chew yet. I'm almost wondering if they even put the band on!!

What is everyone planning on having to eat for Easter dinner? Is ham a tollerable food?

I can't stomach many shakes at all. I bought the 3.5 oz. protein viles. They have 45 grams of protein. I have one per day. Half in the morning and half in the afternoon/evening. I mix 1/2 the protein with equal amounts of water. Tastes good. -
I'll be on the mushie stage next week. But right now I feel as though I could eat anything. I've been living off protein drinks, mashed potato and squash. I know I shouldn't have done this but I had one of those 100 calorie packs of chips ahoy cookies. I can't tell you how good they tasted!!! I was in heaven!!! I'm going through the head hunger at the moment!

Another question on Liquids..
Berry replied to JA4602's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My post-op is 3 weeks modified liquids, 3 weeks mushies. I'm on my last week of liquids. Modified liquids consists of broth, creamed soups, cottage cheese, yogurt etc., anything that will go through a straw. I did add in some mashed potato and squash. I'm doing fine with both. -
I picked up some tuna, wheat thins and carnation 4pks today as well. I don't know if I can wait until next week to have the tuna...I want it so bad! I might just mix some up and have a little! I need real food. I can't take potato anymore! Pasta and Bread are two of my favorite things as well. Let me know how you make out with them!
-
I had my first baked potato today without the skin. I mushed it up and put some margerine on it. Soon after I had diarrhea. Did anyone have this problem graduating to mushies from liquids?
-
I know many people can't tolerate pasta. Would it make a difference if it was an angel hair pasta instead of a regular spaghetti or ziti??
-
I have to admit that I had some spaghetti sauce with meat out of a jar tonight! Ohhh, it was gooood!!! I love the extra thick meaty Ragu!
-
Sweetheart, I've been dying for meatballs!! I have one more week until I can go on full mushies. I have been eating mashed potato and squash. But I'm ready for more of a variety. I could go for the meatballs, chicken salad and tuna!! Did you make your own meatballs or did you buy them? I need a real good recipe for very moist meatballs.

I'm having some interesting pains on both of my sides. It's normally if I've been standing for too long. I get sharp pains on both my left and right side. Could it be muscles that are healing?
-
I had the horrible gas pains!! I had the pain in my back/shoulder and neck. It was PAINFUL!! It took a good week for it to go away. Nothing much helped with my pain other than laying down on my side or back for a few days.
-
When would one have it removed?
Berry replied to rondajs's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ronda, Take it from me, the pain does go away!!! I was banded on 3/19 and I was in horrible pain in my back, shoulder and neck. It was all from the gas. It took a good 7 days for all of it to start going away. I was hungry and just wanted food. It was tough getting the Protein shakes down. All I did was cry and whine for days!!! Thank god my husband is so supportive. It will get better! Some people have a low threshold for pain and I was one of them! I thought for sure before the surgery that I would bounce right back and be my normal self but I was sooo wrong! I'm 2 weeks post-op, no back/shoulder/neck pain but my incisions are still a little sore. It takes time for your body to heal and you need to give it all the time it needs. Some people just need more time than others. Please don't give up! You'll get through it! You have a lot of support here! Sherri
