On average, how many grams of fat and carbs should one have per day? I overload on both and I would like to know a healthy amount to have each day. Thanks!

I got my first fill yesterday. I had some mashed potato today and an hour later my stomach started making strange noises. Are these digestion noises?? The food moving from the upper pouch to the lower stomach??
-
I had my first fill on May 9th. Can't say it's working very well because I've gained 7 lbs since then!!! I'm not really all the hungry all the time but I think I just keep making the wrong food choices and I'm not exercising. I feel like such a failure! I don't know how to get on track and start losing. I need some help!!! Sherri

I found this recipe in the Kraft magazine. Not sure of the calories/fat because the original recipe calls for regular pudding, crackers and cool whip. I changed it to the low fat. 15 Low-fat graham crackers, broken in half 1 1/2 cups low fat milk 1 pkg Jell-O fat free vanilla instant pudding & pie filling 1 8 oz. fat free cool whip 1 cup chocolate ready-to-spread frosting Arrange 10 of the graham crackers, overlapping slightly in bottom of 8" baking pan. Set aside. Pour milk into large bowl, add dry pudding mix and beat well. Let stand 5 minutes until thickened. Gently stir in whipped topping until blended. Spread haf of the pudding over graham squares in pan. Top with 10 of the graham squares and remaining pudding. Cover with remaining 10 graham squares. Refrigerate at least 3 hours. Spread with chocolate frosting. You could always use chocolate pudding as well. Sounds delicious doesn't it!!

Alright, I'm going crazy!!! I'm one week post-op and I need some food...mushies will do!! I can't take anymore soup, broth or jello!! Has anyone started a small amount of mushies such as mashed potato or squash the second week of post-op??

I had my first fill one week ago. On occasion, I've had food get stuck but today I had the golfball feeling three times today. Does it take a week after a fill before the band starts to work and maybe this is why I'm getting that feeling??
-
To me the "backed up" feeling feels like a golf ball in my chest. It's when I eat too fast or the bites I eat are too big. It's very hard for me to get use to eating slow and to chew, chew, chew!!

I had my surgery on March 19th and I had my first fill last Wednesday. Like everyone else, I feel like I can still eat quite a bit. I find that I have to eat slowly or it backs up on me though. So I guess I have some restriction. I just wish I would get fuller quicker!! That annoys me!

I got my first fill today and I'm feeling just fine but I'm hungry because I haven't eaten since this morning. My doctors instructions was to stay on liquids for 3-4 days. I find this is a bit much. Has anyone eaten after a fill? Could I have at least something soft like mashed potato??? I'm starving and I have that horrible headache that goes along with being way tooo hungry!!!

Is anyone else having a problem with the chat room? I've noticed that it hasn't been working since the overhaul of the website. Hope this will be fixed soon, I love the chat feature!

I'm hoping to get my first fill today. Should I not eat or drink for a certain amount of hours before a fill???
-
HI Maureen, Who is your doctor at BIDMC? Mine is Dr.Jones. I was suppose to have my gallbladder removed back in March but I decided against it. I have gallstones but I have never had a problem with them. I didn't want to have two surgeries. I figured if I end up having a problem with the stones, I'll get it out at that time. Sherri

When does a PB typically happen, a little while after you have had something to eat that didn't agree with you or right away??
-
HI, Just curious as to how much weight you fellow March '07 bandsters have lost. I was banded on March 19th. Originally lost 22 lbs but I've gained back 5 lbs. Can't wait for my first fill which isn't until another 2 weeks. Feel like I have no restriction at all! I can eat anything at all with no problems. Need a fill and fast! Sherri

I'm 4 weeks out and don't get my first fill for another month! I'm eating everything in sight. I just had 3 cookies! Of course I inhaled them and took them while nobody was looking. Why is it food tastes better when you sneak it? I feel like I'm going back to my old pre-banded ways. I'm so afraid of gaining back the weight I already lost but I feel like I have no will power. So depressing!!
-
I don't like this "lapband hell"! I'm 3 weeks post-op and can eat just about anything so far...which I'm not liking. I have a terrible time with will-power! I don't have much! Just out of habit I grabbed a handful of goldfish and ate them. I don't know what I'm going to do between now and my first fill.
-
I'm 3 1/2 weeks post-op. My family is having pizza tonight. Do you think I could handle a thin crust slice of pizza? I've been able to tolerate crackers and the 100 calorie pack cookies. Could I handle pizza?
-
That's great John! You must be excited!! I can't wait for my first fill which until another month!! Oh the horror!! I need a fill and fast! Sherri
-
Eloo, I'm with you! I don't have any restriction and feel like I can eat anything I want and eat large bites! I eat very fast too and it drives me crazy! I've lost 20 lbs. and I'm afraid I'm going to gain it all back! I need a fill and quick!
-
I'm now 3 weeks post-op and have finally progressed to stage 4 of my diet. Which includes tuna, chicken salad, lean meats & deli meats, canned fruits, cooked veggies, eggs, crackers etc. For lunch I had 2 tbls of chicken salad on 4 low fat wheat thins and for dinner I had a 2oz. meatball in tomato sauce. I'M IN HEAVEN!!! :clap2:

I still don't have a problem with having to chew a lot. So far I can still chew as normally as I did before surgery. I'm sure that will change once I get my first fill !!
-
I'm nervous to try the pizza because I don't want it to get stuck! Like Jubjub, I can eat hamburger meat and chicken no problem. I have had roast beef & ham lunch meat with no problems either. I've really wanted pasta but don't dare and won't try bread either.
-
Carmel, I've lost 22 lbs. so far. I'm sort of stuck at the moment. I need to start exercising which is always a problem for me! It's hard to get the motivation. I haven't had a problem eating any foods yet. Everything seems to go down very well. I really don't have much restriction. How about you?
-
I wish it only took me 40 minutes to get to BI, it takes me two long agonizing hours!! I hate the drive. This weather is driving me crazy!! I can't remember the last time I saw the sun! Is there such a thing?
-
Eloo, I'm 3 weeks post-op and I feel like I can eat anything and feel no restriction either. It's a horrible feeling! I want to feel full after I eat a little bit but that's not happening. I don't get my first fill for another month. I hope I don't gain the 20 lbs. I've already lost. Will power isn't a strong suit for me!
