Has anyone been told that they had a fatty liver when they had their ultrasound done? I know why I have a fatty liver...bad eating habits, but can I reverse that substantially prior to surgery??? I probably won't have my surgery until mid to late March. If I start eating a low-fat diet, will this help??

HI, Anyone out there being banded at Beth Israel in March 07??? Sherri

I'm going to try the couch to 5k. It says to do the workout 3 times per week. On those 3 days, should I do additional workouts or is that enough exercise for one day?

I had my 2nd fill on June 11th. In 6 weeks, I lost 15 lbs. The last 2 weeks, I haven't lost a pound. I've been eating correctly and walking 3 miles per day. What is going on????? I'm getting so frustrated which makes me want to eat things I should! Any suggestions? Thanks

I might need to have my thyroid removed soon. Will I need to have the fluid removed from my band prior to the surgery?

I ate scrambled hamburg last night and boy did it get stuck!! I hurt for hours afterwards and finally vomited. I was in a lot of pain all last night, it felt like I pulled a ton of muscles. I had to break out the heating pad and put it on my stomach. It still hurts this morning. I had a small bit of cereal because I was hungry and now my stomach is making gurgling noises. What should I do????

Laura- that's so strange that you still throw up without any liquid in your band. What does your doctor think about this? How much weight have you lost since being banded? I was banded in March 2007. I haven't had much luck at all, I've only lost 10 lbs. I've only had one fill but I don't dare to get another. Sometimes I feel it's too tight and everything gets stuck. I'm starting to wonder if I did the right thing by getting the band. It's so frustrating!

Brandymom - when this happened to you did you also feel nausiated? I also feel like I have some indigestion because I keep belching. I took a zantac a couple of hours ago & it hasn't helped all that much yet. Thanks for everyone's input!

My name is Sherri from Mass. Had the lapband March of 07. I'm confused, annoyed and frustrated! I can't seem to get on the lapband wagon! In the beginning, I lost about 20-25 lbs but since then, I have gained most of it if not all of it back. I don't know how to restart and get back on track. I forget how to eat like a lapbander! I don't really get that full feeling but if I get a fill, I'm afraid I won't be able to get anything down. UGH

What is the full feeling like? The band is suppose to make you feel full but mine doesn't seem to do that, at least I don't think. I know I don't need a fill because as it is food gets stuck now. Is the full feeling just a feeling of satisfaction or is it the feeling you get after you have a thanksgiving meal?

Am I suppose to be in this much pain, am I suppose to be hungry, when I take a deep breath is that suppose to hurt too??? Someone help!!! Sherri

HI Sue, I live in Plymouth, just a hop, skip and a jump away from the Cape. I was banded last March but I'm having some problems right now with it so I'm not on the losing side. Please keep me posted on your progress! Sherri

I had lapband surgery last March and have only lost 20lbs. I don't know if there is something wrong with the band because I have been having a lot of PB's and food getting stuck. I'm at the point where I can really only eat and have food go down if I'm standing up. If I'm sitting while I'm eating, food gets stuck. Has anyone else ever had this problem??
-
I certainly have turned to high calorie foods that will go down easy and not get stuck. I can eat meat but not a lot. I normally will turn to baked or mashed potato, stuffing, squash, no breads, no pasta. I think I live on potato! It was going well in the beginning. I got my first fill in May of 07. Then another fill in August of 07. That fill was way too much and then I had some taken out. Maybe he should have taken more out. Since then, I have turned to the high calorie foods. If I have meats or tuna, I need a lot of gravy or mayo to go with it so it will go down. Do you think I need an unfill? I find it strange how not much will go down if I'm sitting down at the table eating. I need to eat while I'm standing for the food to go down. Have you ever heard of such a thing??

I was banded March 07. I've only lost 10 lbs. I feel like such a failure. I eat around my band and I always have that head hunger. I eat just to eat. It's so frustrating. I think my band is working, I just don't get full very quickly. I know if I have another fill I won't be able to eat anything. I'm really at a loss. How do I get back on track? I don't count calories or exercise. I'm having a hard time getting back into it. I don't know where to start. Does anyone go to Weight Watchers, would that help?? HELP!!! berry

HI Mamakinks, How are you doing? I was banding in March 07 and I haven't had any success at all. I'm very frustrated. I had two fills and then I had some taken out because I couldn't keep anything down. I have found that I'm an emotional eater and I just plain like to eat. There are some foods I can't eat at all but I have found that I can eat around the band and that's not good!!! I don't know what to do at this point. I don't really love my doctor that did the surgery and they won't let me switch. I don't want to go back to them at all. I'm really stuck.

Hello, I read a post where this person has a diet of 40% protein, 40% complex carbs and 20% fat. Is this a good mix? I know this may sound stupid, but how do I figure that out in my daily diet???

I was banded in March and I'm not having much success. Has anyone ever gone on Jenny Craig or some other weight loss program after they have been banded to help them out? sherri

I'm so frustrated, annoyed and discouraged. I was banded in March and I've only lost 18 lbs. I can't seem to get into a routine, I'm not eating right and I don't have will-power. How do I get on track and start losing again? The will-power and the exercise are the two worst things for me and those are the two things that will help me succeed. I tend to eat when I'm not hungry and that isn't good. I am stuck in such a rut and I don't know what to do. I feel like such a failure. I got the lapband because I couldn't lose weight on my own so I decided to get the surgery. I felt like a failure before the band and I feel like a failure after the band. Now that I have the band and I can't get it to work, I feel even more like a failure. Not only to myself but to my family. Did I do the right thing to get the band or was it a mistake? I don't know what to do at this point. Sherri

Yikes, I'm getting my appetite back and that makes me nervous! I'm almost 3 weeks post-op and I could eat just about anything! I don't want to gain ALL the weight back I've already lost. I realize I may gain some back but I don't want to start from scratch again. Any thoughts??

I had my second fill two weeks ago - I've had a problem eating many foods. I can eat tuna & chicken salad, as long as it's in a paste consistency, mashed potato, meatballs, wheat thins & cream cheese and of course ice cream. I can't eat much of anything else. I tried a little bit of very moist and lean steak and I couldn't eat that either. Is what the "sweet spot" is suppose to be like, not being able to eat a good variety of foods? Could it be I'm a bit over filled and need some removed? HELP! Sherri <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->__________________

Hi everyone, Thanks for your advice! I decided to get some Fluid taken out. I'm back down to appx. 1.5 cc's in my 10cc band. I feel much better and can eat again. The only reason I liked the last fill I had with a total of 2cc's is that I felt full most of the time. I would rather deal with a bit of hunger than not eating much of anything. Sherri

I also get left shoulder pain and I'm 4 months out. I normally get it when I sit a certain way. I just got my 2nd fill today and I've had it ever since, it won't go away. Along with a pain/pressure in my mid-chest area-between my boobs. Anyone know what that could be from?

I'm having trouble using the chat feature. Has anyone else had this problem? I can sign in and type but I can't see what other people are typing. Any suggestions?
