I am a crohns patient and he been told not to touch the intestines. The sleeve is the best option for me. If u show him the studies on crohns patients and the sleeve it is amazing some even come off steroids and have less flares show ur surgeon but do not do the RNY very dangerous for crohns patient and my gastro even told me that. They can not scope your stomach after that procedure and crohns can go there and u run a higher risk of crohns forming on the intestine when they are dissected. Please pull up the studies on gastric sleeve and crohns patient or IBD it’s called inflammatory bowel disease I have had it for over 20 years and now resistant to so many drugs

I like this recipe personally but I alter it. I use a scoop of vanilla protein powder, half a frozen banana and the almond milk to the right consistency. It’s really good and all natural sugar. -
I am a crohns patient going in for a gastric sleeve procedure on May 29 (so I hope). I do not have crohns in my stomach never had my GI doctor wont give me clearance tell I have an upper GI done first ever my stuff is all lower. They decided this because I have heart burn but if I lose 30 pounds it goes away so it is all weight related. I am afraid they will not clear me. My upper GI is not tell wed next week and it can take 14 days for biopsy to come back (I might add gi has known for 3 months I was doing this). My pre op physical is May 10 and surgery registration is the 11. Has anyone gone through this or have experience. I want to have it done so bad I feel it will help my crohns so much.

According to my CT report so do i that is what a hiatal hernia is. But depending on size and surgeon depends on if they fix it. This is so why I don’t understand why I need an endoscopy because I have had the pill cam, barium CT scan, barium X-ray they have all the info they need I feel like they are trying to make money off of it. My hernia is not big very small and weight lost and protein pump inhibitors is general how I fix them. The studies show there is no difference in acid reflux if it is fixed or not. So it depends on the size of urs and your surgeon. Mine won’t touch mine said there is no reason to it is not large and weight loss will fix the symptoms. Most over weight people have a hiatal hernia. I try not to have to much done if my body can fix itself. I work for pain management and I see more issues with nerve impingements from surgeries and scar tissue pain. I rather deal with reflux then possibly pain lol. I already live with chronic pain in my lower abdomen and I run the risk know in upper. Lol.

My CT report shows one on me. They are quite common and sometimes they leave them alone. They are known for causing heart burn. This whole endoscopy is driving me nuts I am afraid what they might find in mine do to crohns but positive thinking. But sometimes they fix the hernia and sometimes they let them be expessially if ur not symptomatic.

Not losing weight on pre op liquid diet
azmassage2000 replied to browneyez42's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay our surgeon dose not do it prior thank goodness we just do liver shrinking diet I don’t know if I could do 4 weeks of liquids -
There are different test they do depending on what they are looking for this one u should be sedated but it not like the sedation u are thinking of. My GI doc way back when when I had my first lower gi he calls it the forgetting drug. You are awake but don’t remember anything. They can ask u to swallow and u will. It’s pretty cool. I get lower done every two years because I have crohns. I have never had a upper thought I go in on wed. It dose not take long to recover after either I am usually able to function within two hours instead of days like full sedation.

Crohns patient requirements
azmassage2000 replied to azmassage2000's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yea I herd good things for symptoms for anything cause for IBD. My surgeon did not recommend that one because crohns patients lose there intestines so we need to preserve them. I will probably have a bowl resection surgery in about 3 years according to my test -
Crohns patient requirements
azmassage2000 replied to azmassage2000's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yea every patient is different. I went from 160 to 100 pounds when I was diagnosed and thrown on steroids for 3 years after that. Since then I have not been able to get the weight off. I was internally bleeding heavy to the point of a blood transfusions. So the steroids where super high it took 3 years to wean me off them. She would not be a good candidate but if she dose not have a federal job or random drug test CBD oil I here works mericals. There is supposed to be no THC in it but I here there is always that chance u can pop positive just like hemp seeds so I don’t chance it since I am a gov employee -

A EGD is the same things as a upper GI. I am military dependent and the general surgeron don’t require an EGD. I have an off post GI doctor doing it. Is your friend with crohns over weight by chance? I am just courteous. There are some studies that state that since there is damage and Mel absorption your body store fat causes it thinks it’s going to starve. But when weight loss is a big symptom of the disease. My surgeon say he only recommends the sleeve to stop the hunger pains. But here is the big thing if she is over weight crohns is a inflammatory thing so there are tons of foods that are inflammatory and believe it having gastric bypass helps u regect those foods (you still might crave them) sugar is huge inflammatory, bread is the other. The weight and fat cause issues. I have no relief either my crohns has attacked my skin, gallbladder and now my nerves system. But I cut sugar out two years ago same with soda and caffeine and I try to be gluten free it has cut my flairs in half. I am not a huge girl but have hi blood pressure and sleep apnea so I am a candidate for this surgery. I am 5’9 and 230 ideal weight for me is 140-160. I have read many studies and there are quite a few crohns patient that can manage there weight and symptoms a lot better with this surgery. My surgeon even has worked with a few and he said there flares went down to maybe one or two a year. Again these are army doctors they don’t need my to have this surgery to get paid they tend to tell u the truth. He did say to only do the sleeve nothing else it’s no much of a risk -
canceled surgery 3 times
azmassage2000 replied to connie123lok's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You seriously need mental health provider. You are not in the right mental state for this procedure. You surgery will not be successful if u do not control habitats. I recommend trying to lose the weight yourself first and controlling it that way with mental health. You are emotionally eating. Until u control and change behaviors your surgery will not be a successful one -
My surgery for my sleeve is May 29
