Still in the pre-op stages but I’ll be joining the post op club in August 😄 -
Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies Check In Here!

@yobl that’s crazy! -
Well, I learned that lesson today. I hadn’t had any negativity my way since I’ve been going through the process but I should have known better than to assume.
-
I’ve had a pretty supportive circle through the pre-op process. My family that knows has been supportive and happy for me, my friends who I told the same. Today, in a Keto group, I mentioned it and boy the whole negative onslaught came at me. “If you just stuck to Keto you’d lose and wouldn’t need WLS.” Yeah, been there done that. I was in Keto for 6 months and barely lost what some lose in a month. Some people swear they know everything. 🙄

Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies Check In Here!
msauerbrei replied to Ylime's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don’t have an exact date but looking at early August. Almost done with all the pre-op stuff and so excited! -
I’m really happy with how easy this whole process has been. Was cleared my the pulmonologist and they even gave me the home sleep study machine. X-ray being done today, blood work Friday morning. Nutritionist and seminar next Wednesday and Thursday. Body composition and RMR in May 14 and next appointment with surgeon on May 15th. After that psychiatrist and ultrasound of upper GI. I’d love for surgery by first week of June but probably won’t be until End of July realistically. Hoping and praying there are no setbacks!
-
I still have two more nutritionist visits, psych, and endo left.
-
No date yet but my surgeon said August date is a definite! I’m so excited!
-
Same here! No weight loss required just trying my best to get used to my new way of life post surgery. I’ve been cutting back on caffeine and diet soda too
-
Is it true that there is no flying for 6 months after you are sleeved? It’s on my list of questions next time I see the surgeon but a friend told me this and I’m curious.
-
Right and I think when flying home to where your doctor for aftercare is waiting is different than leaving the state or country for vacation. I think his no flying really is more like no vacations right after surgery.
-
My surgeon prefers we wait three months but said if we must 6 weeks is the time period to wait
-
Okay thanks all! I thought 6 months sounded crazy maybe she just typed it incorrectly. I’ll ask my doctor! Thanks

Hey Jersey Crew! Had to initial consult yesterday and things are hopefully going to move along quickly!

Waiting at the office now for my first consultation. [emoji3] It looks like I don’t have a ton of hoops to jump through since my blood work and blood pressure and everything is normal. -
64oz is 8 glasses a day which is what the minimum recommended for adults. For weight loss, half your body weight is recommended. That being said it is possible to drink too much water. Water poisoning is a real thing and it can kill you. But you need to consume massive amounts to even get to that point. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_intoxication 3/L doesn’t seem excessive to me though.

Hi all! I introduced myself about a month ago but now I have a legit date for my first appointment with a bariatric surgeon. My PCP was also amazing and gave me referrals for cardiologist, gastroenterologist, and psychiatrist because she knows I’ll for sure need them. I got my blood work done yesterday and the Cardio office called me To schedule my consultation with them for Saturday. I’ve been researching like crazy and am ready for this. I’ve been toying with the idea for about three years but now finally took the plunge to make appointments. Looking forward to getting to know others here.

Intro time: who's new to the group, who's pre-op, & who just recently made it to the loser's bench?

Hi! New here. Doing a lot of reading and just some posting. First appt. with the surgeon is April 11. Appointment with cardiologist for the consultation with them is Saturday. I’ve been flip flopping on this decision for a couple years and am now finally taking real steps towards doing it! -
I’m working on my list. As I read through these forums and research I’m writing down everything.
-
From Jersey City....still in the very early stages. I have my first consult in April 11th!

Favorite things you can do now that you couldn't before, or things you're looking forward to doing?

I’m new here and have just been taking it all in but these small stories of victory and success are making me more firm in my decision to pursue this.
