time off from work - help

I think with the nature of your job you should give yourself 2 weeks. You need to heal and will not be comfortable bending and lifting. This way you will not feel rushed. Remember you are going to be ajusting to your new band as well, and will be on a liquid diet and may have less energy. I took 2 weeks off and felt that it was just about right. My surgery was on a wednesday and I returned on a wednesday for a short work week. This worked out nice for me. I'm a cook supervisor for the school district and there is not much down time there. If your situation allows I would try to take the 2 weeks. Hope this helps, Nicole

    Your Pre-Op Diet

I was on a liquid diet for 10 days before surgery. After surgery it was one week clear liquid diet 2 weeks full liquid diet 2 weeks pureed foods then slowly introducing soft foods for 2 weeks. I did survive this pretty well. I had a good restriction up until about 5 weeks post-op. I was lucky about that. Some do not have this restriction and that would make these phases much more difficult. Your body is healing and it is very important to do what your doctor has asked. This is not the same plan I have seen others have but this was my journey. Nicki
  4. You do calculate your points by putting the calories fat and fiber of the food into the calculator. Remember this number is per serving. Hope this helps Nicki
  5. Weight watchers points. Every thing has a point value based on calories, fat and Fiber. (around 50 calories per point). You have your alloted daily points and then you have 35 points per week of extra points. You can use these however you choose, either spread out through the week or for a special occasion out on one night. Or you can choose not to use them. You do earn activity points. It is based on your current weight and then your level of intensity. For example if you are 200 pounds and do 20 minutes of high intensity it earns you 3 points. Moderate intensity will earn you 1 point. 35 minutes of moderate intensity earns you 2 points. Just to give you an idea. Target points (Daily points) Less than 150 pounds 20 points 150 - 174 =22 points 175- 199 =24 points 200 - 224= 26 points 225-249 =28 points 250-274 =30 points 275-299 =31 points 300-324= 32 points 325-349=33 points 350 and more= 34 points Hope this helps Any other questions let me know Nicki
  6. I went in for a fill today and found out the reason I'm so hungry and could eat larger portions was because my first fill dissipated. Anyone else else have this happen? I was put back up to my 1cc and I can return in 2 weeks if I'm not feeling restricted. Nicole

    Post surgery truth

I would recommend getting help for at least 3 days post-op if you can. You will be sore and tired. Your body will need time to recoup. I napped at least once a day the first few days after I got home from the hospital. My husband took some vacation time to be home with me and the kids. You really need to take some time for you. Let a friend or relative help out. Good luck Nicki

    Seeing the Doc tomorrow

I think family is just worried, I told my immediate family and they were the same until I told them I was serious and was halfway through the steps to get my lapband. That is when they really started to listen and understand. My mom is a wonderful support for me, she is not sure that she could do the same but she gives me a great deal of respect for the choice I made for me. Other relatives I told after surgery. I was banded on December 21, 2005 and am very happy with my choice. ( no problems so far ) Take care Nicki
  9. I was banded on December 21, 2005 by Doctor Wetherille at PNC. I'm new to this website, so glad that I have found it. Look forward to chatting Nicole

    Breads

I'm almost 6 weeks post op and have tried some baguette bread and find I do not have a problem with it. Lots of info says to avoid bread. Is this just because of nutrition value? Will I still be able to tolerate bread after I get my first fill? Send your experiences!! Thanks NVanDev

    December Bandsters: First Fill Yet?

I'm about 5 weeks post op. I have felt restriction just from the surgery. I have lost 30 pounds so far. I think the swelling from surgery is going down as I can eat a little more than before. But I still do have restriction. Out here they do not do a fill until at least six weeks post -op. Then it is based on if you really need one yet. Are you losing 2 pounds per week and what are you able to eat and how much. I see my nutritionist on Monday and we will evaluate if I will need a fill soon. Surgery Date December 21, 2005 NVanDev

    little one

I 'm about 4 weeks post -op and have lost 30 pounds. I think many things can affect your rate of weight loss.( age, health etc.) Average weight loss is 2 pounds a week. Mine will most likely slow down to that. When you get the band it is not filled, some people feel a restriction just with putting the band in place ( I do, so far ) and others do not feel restriction until after they get a fill. Good luck on your journey and remember everyone will lose at different rates. Good Luck, NVanDevelde
  18. I'm new to this site and keep seeing pbing? Is this vomitting or something else I'm not thinking of. Thanks for the Info
  19. I was recently banded also. December 21st 2005. So I'm about 4 weeks post op. It does get easier, I do look forward to every new week that I can have something new!! I'm very happy with my band so far. The weight is coming off and I feel full. Good luck and keep us posted NVanDevelde

    Hello

You have just come off the Clear liquids so you will feel better this coming week. One week post op I was still sore and a little tired. The dizziness may be from meds if you are still taking any. When you move to full liquids, pay attention to your Protein. I'm about 5 weeks out now and feeling pretty good. I'm tired by the end of my busy day though!! NVanDevelde
