  1. Congrats and thx for sharing! You are an inspiration!
  2. I am 3 weeks out and still struggling to get my protein. Not a fan of shakes or anything I have tried which has been a hellofa lot! Ans since I can only eat so much I look for foods with the biggest bang.
  3. I didn't have any movement til day 5 so I would say give it some time as long as u don't feel uncomfortable.
  4. I was up 13 lbs when I got home from the hospital! But they had me so pumped full of fluids cause I had kidney failure during my surgery so I expected it. It dropped off with in a few days then I knew I was on my own in having to get enough fluids

    lightheaded

That can contribute to dehydration if it has a diuretic in it. Earlier this year I started taking BP med and lasix, within 2 weeks I ended up in the hospital severely dehydrated and in kidney failure as a result.

You could be dehydrated. Get more fluids any way you can. soups, juice, popsicles....
  7. At the hospital Monday morning at 5:30 am. Wheeled to surgery at 7:30 am. Surgery was suppose to be about 3 hrs. Hubby not called back until 3:30pm. They had problem waking me up. My asthma kicked in and I had acute kidney failure. Didn't get up walking until Wed morning. Came home Thursday and soooo glad to be in my bed! The surgery pain is very minimal. Biggest issue is my back pain from sleeping on those damn hospital beds! So if it weren't for my complications things would have gone a whole lot easier! Can't wait to start reaching some of my goals like tying shoes, fitting in a booth seat without having to test it to see if I fit before the hostess walks away, and of course buying smaller clothes sizes!

    Home from 10/29 Surgery

Glad to heal Lilly! That is progress I woke up a little sore today. Must of pushed a little to hard on my stroll last night. I am just getting cabin fever Feel like I am still sleeping a lot too but notice that is during the day and I am full of energy in the evenings and staying up pretty late. Have a friend that keeps reminding me my body needs sleep to heal. Wishing us a an even better day today!

    Pain

Sounds like u might be over the hump now and should expect to improve each day. Walk Walk Walk. It helps dissipate all the trapped gasses. I need to try some protein shake too. So far I have only had soup, popsicles and jello.

    Home from 10/29 Surgery

I'm improving each day now. Yesterday and today I was able to stroll to the end of my road and back (like 4 house). Food is looking good to me again. Excited about trying new recipes when I am ready. How are you feeling?
  14. Bypass surgery 10/29. Had some complications. Developed kidney failure. Came home yesterday. Past few days I have been getting random hot flashes. My face and neck turn bright red and lasts a few minutes. Anyone else experience this or know what is causing it?

    Post Op hot flashes

Thx mylighthouse and sorry to hear you are having night sweats. I have that problem as well. My research is pointing to too much estrogen in the body. From what I have read, estrogen is stored in our fat cells so as we lose weight the hormone is released. Let me know if you find any other possible causes.

    Post Op hot flashes

They are not sure. Surgeon thinks I had a bad reaction to something they gave me during surgery like the antibiotic maybe but they are just guessing. Urine was backed up in my Kidneys so I needed a foley catheter and then they just started pushing mass fluids thru me.
  17. I get iron infusions. Started with them before my surgery cause always running anemic. You just sit in the chair and get an IV drip with the meds for about hr. My doc rechecks my labs every 3 months to see when I need more.

I am 50 but I do not think it is that. I finally found some old posts on here of many others having the same experience and it can last pretty long after surgery

    Vitamins

Has anyone tried the Journey Vitamins? If so how did they taste? Also my program says chewable vitamins for life. Does everyone do that or do you eventually change to pills?

    Pre surgery monitored diet

I did not have that req but was told some have 3 or 6 months as well. I agree 7 is random. Go with your gut.
  21. UTI antibiotics are pretty specific. You should see about treatment prior to surgery. It is usually a 5 day script so there is time to fix it prior to your surgery. I went for my final surgery clearance with my surgeon just over 2 weeks out from surgery and ended up having a UTI. Got some meds and he never mentioned it being a problem.
  22. Day 3 of liquid diet n I have spent all day in the bathroom! How will I ever get sleep tonight?!?!
