Let me tell you of my story and you can decide for yourself. I've had a little, if only a fraction of indigestion before the band. But it was easy not to notice because the food kept it down. I ate a lot to take care of a that nagging hungry feeling. Since being banded I too have developed Gerd. I lived with it for about 6 months before I was willing to go back to the doctor because I had lost a lot of weight and honestly I thought I didn't want to change any of that. What I know know, is when I don't eat so much, I do have acid reflux or Gerd and all that eating before surgery was to surpress it. Now that there is not so much food disguising what was once mild symptoms has clearly raised it's head when there's less food coming in. It's all a balancing act - he took some fluid out and I now feel much better. I commend you for trying to find the answers but I wouldn't be so quick to blame your doctor. You're young, you're still starting out, you'll get there. regards, Nellie

Hi I've been banded since March, 06 and can't eat unless I take Prevacid every day and one before I go to bed. I was BPing pretty bad and a girlfriend said it was the acid - sure enough after taking my acid medicine, it much better - but I have to take it twice a day. I want to know if anyone else is experiencing this, also or if you've hear of others with the same problem. thanks GayNell

Thanks for replying JessyInSD, I had actually forgotten this since I haven't had trouble in so long... but alas, for the past week, I'm back to having the reflux. I received this email and it what a nice reminder that I can do something about it. I will try the 'apple' suggestion and see if it works. Thanks again, Nellie:clap2:

Please don't give up - it took 5 fills before I felt anything - and then it was almost too tight. Be patient - it took you years to get to the size you are not - take your time and know that it WILL work. I know we all want immediate results but I think it's better for your body to take it off slowly. I've lost 24 lbs over a period of 10 months (Mar 21,06) and there are times I wish it were more - but am grateful for it not going the other way. Hang in there - it's worth it. PS: as for the picture, I had to go to the site, make it look the way I wanted, then copy and paste it into this site... regards, Nellie

Hi everyone - I have started taking Prevacid daily and on occasions, in the morning, when I can tell it's "acid", I take about a teaspoon of vinegar. I shared very positive results with my doctor who is not convinced about the vinegar but feels that if' I'm doing well, then, that's what counts. Sometimes food seems to get stuck in my esphogas (sp?) before the stomach and this is the other good time time to try the vinegar. It's like the valve down there won't open/close as it's suppose to to push the food on down. Use the medicine as directed even after you are feeling well. Use the vinegar sparingly. That's my experience.

LapBand Food Stages Lists Suggestions

Hello Marg - Most doctors recommend liquids for a week, then mushies for a week, then soft foods, then what you can tolerate. I've got to tell you, although I think you are doing a hell of a job, I could not do the same. I'm not into suffering and therefore would not be able to do what you are doing. Soft eggs are just fine - but before you start eating, write a little plan of just would be okay for you - and then don't cross that line. But please, relax and enjoy life, with all it's tastes and textures... Just do it smartly. Best wishes, -
Tammy - I read about your constipation - are you alright now? I was worried about you! have you been doing enough liquids? Girl, you hang in there!
