After all the failure of diets, etc. I am proud to say I had the lap-band surgery. Frankly even with the band we are eating healthy and living right. I simply add that line as well that I'm eating properly as well. Be proud, you have paid for it and are living it and maybe it will help someone else that is in need! Also, thank them as you must look good!!

Three weeks after my lap band surgery I fell forward down 4 concrete steps and broke 2 bones - the ankle and up on the side of the calf. I am now walking without a boot or crutches and with a slight limp. Getting ready to start back with exercise and walking slowly.

A week ago today I had my 2nd fill. If you copy the link and paste in your browser address line, or click on the link you will see a video of the fill. I did much better with this one than my first one as far as feeling comfortable and not being nervous. I have had more PBing with this than anything, but have finally figured out how to control that issue. I have noticed I have a lot of air bubbles, so when I take my first bite of food, I wait after swallowing until I feel the bubbles come up (such as a drink like coca-cola has the bubbles in it). I feel them moving upward and then I can actually feel the food move downward. This has really changed my response to food. Watch the video and tell me what you think! Looking for mentor/accountability partner
88KEYZ replied to allheart's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am working on losing 100 lbs. I as of today have lost 39 total so far. I would love to be in touch with you for support as I need it too! Who did your lap band and where at? Check out my profile when you get some time. -
Welcome! Go through my profile and read my blogs as I tried to post things as they happened. Basically I was self pay, but in Tijuana and did great. Pain for me was a lot of gassy pains, left shoulder, etc. Not everyone has pain! My Dad breezed through his as did my sis-n-law. Recovery, again some people 1 - 3 days, me a little longer, more like 2 weeks. It is a wonderful surgery, I would do it again today if I had too. Stay on this site and get support! Good luck!!

I agree with "Skinny Grandma" - walk - walk - walk!!!! My gas pains were horrible and all through my left shoulder. Understand that they will come and go, but walking is the answer. Also, I still get those pains from eating, so you might get them later as well. Everyone is different. Good luck!!

I would go by what the doctor says, but my doc had me on 40 - 50 carbs a day and now I just watch it close.

My pre-op diet consisted of: 40 - 50 carbs per day, High protein, do not count calories, liquids, broths, jello's, etc. The last day was solid liquids and clear to see through.

Decided to get the Lap-Band done
88KEYZ replied to Bleste's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The liver sits in the path of the surgery. In order to be protective of it as it is fragile, we shrink it so the doctor can move it or hold it out of the way during surgery. There is a lot of videos on You-Tube of lapband but I did see one really great one that shows the procedure and shows the liver being moved. The diet is made up of 40 - 50 carbs a day - high protein - liquids. The doc gives his / her version of the diet to each patient. -
Ahhh....I have not blogged in a little while, so thought I should jot a few thoughts down. Today was the first day I could get on my scale and not wear the boot for my broken ankle and leg bones.....I was very excited as it said I have now lost 34 pounds! Then I put the boot back on. I am transitioning out of the boot, I either have to use crutches or the boot. I'm healing up nicely though, I am happy to say. The lap-band is something that has now been 9 and a 1/2 weeks for me since my surgery. I am so very happy I had this done. The weight loss is very important, but feeling better is more important. My health was going down fast and I knew it. This is the only way I found to gain control again of myself and my body. It is working!!!! Today is the first day I have had a PB which mean "Productive Burp"; I have on a couple of occasions hurt after eating, but today I lost it. I ate about 8 bites of fish. It was fried from a restaurant and I had it at home, but let me tell you - I won't eat fried anymore. I will only eat baked, broiled or grilled. That is an awful feeling to have. I was told to drink lemon juice if this happens and it will break it up, well it did! Not too tasty, but it helps. I'm going to return to my chair and The Braves game now. I'll hope that something I have said might be an encouragement to you!
