March 2018 Success Stories
dhardy30 replied to kakatlady612's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved 3/19 and it was horrible for me because. I was extremely nauseous. I couldn’t stop vomiting I had so many regrets. But come to find out it was the narcotics that use for pain. As soon as they took me off I was fine. No pain and NO nausea. Going home today yay. And my husband stayed with me which help a lot. So now only positive vibes from this point on. -
Getting Sleeved Monday 03/19/18
dhardy30 replied to BuzzVSG's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am being sleeved on the 19th as well and I’m so excited. Nerves are starting to kick in. Liquid diet has been a rollercoaster but I’m getting through it. I know pain threshold differs between people but I’ve had 5 kids and mentally I feel like that is what’s gonna hey me through the pain lol. I know I’m not suppose to compare my progress to my husband. He was sleeved in Sept and he’s doing amazing. I’m just blessed that I have him by my side -
Yaaaay!! My insurance (Aetna) approved my surgery for 3/19. Super excited and my liquid diet starts 3/5. Any advice during the liquid diet? My husband was very constipated during his liquid diet and I do not want to experience what he did. I already have benefiber packets. Any other suggestions?

Look, different guidelines for different surgeries. We require that a patient stops smoking at least a month before surgery to insure a safe surgery AND healing process and if they haven’t stopped , we won’t do the surgery. We require certain medications either be started or stopped at a certain to prevent bleeding out!! The patient has to understand that it’s for their benefit

I’m located in Central New Jersey and will be having my surgery at Overlook Hospital hopefully the end of March. I haven’t received my date yet but I’m excited. Not nervous. I was nervous for Hubby tough of course, but his surgery went smoothly. He had his done out in NewYork by a different surgeon and that was only because of his insurance. So I’m anxious to start eating the same as him and joining his workout regimen

Hello my name is Dee. I’ve trolled on here (in a good way) to get, what I’ve found to be some very useful information. I’ve started my journey in November with my first appointment weighing in at 358 (I’m 5’8”) My second appointment was 12/21/17 and I lost 4lbs. Third appointment I just had 1/30 and I was down another 2lbs. My last and final appointment is 2/13 then after that off to the insurance company (Aetna) to be approved. I’ve fluctuated so much with my weight. I’m super excited that I’ve FINALLY made this decision and so is my husband, whom by the way had his sleeve done in September and he’s down 94lbs and looks amazing! We support each other and that’s what matters but I also would love the outside positive influences from you guys I look forward to sharing this experience.

Yea I’m guessing late March which is fine with me. I’m feeling great about it, trying not to be jealous of my husbands success lol because as you may know men loose weight differently than we do and that’s ok. I’m in this for my own success [emoji4]

I have to agree. I work for Cardiovascular Surgeons and if you do not comply with the guidelines they WILL NOT do the surgery. It’s to make sure that you have the safest surgery possible. So with that being said, yes the doctor was rude and unprofessional but there is a frustration that is added on when they feel like the surgery is not being taking seriously

CPAP Nightmare?!?!
dhardy30 replied to blind unicorn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just found out that I have sleep apnea ( yay for another comorbitity) but boooo for not being able to sleep. I keep snatching mine off and I don’t know if I’m really getting my 4hrs in!!! I know I have to try harder but it so frustrating. Maybe I need the full face mask. Right now I have the nasal pillows....ugh
