starting BMI over 50? come on in!

Thanks Mary, I am discouraged. After a year of the band, thought I would have lost alot more. I eat 800-1000 calories per day and am very careful with my diet. I dont exercise as much as I should, but I thought the dieting alone would take off more than it has. Thanks for the kind words. I am not giving up, but the struggle does get harder and harder. Chrissie

starting BMI over 50? come on in!

I found my way over to the new forum. Just thought I would say HI, I am not on here as much anymore, as I never seem to have anything to report. Very slow loser here, get very frustrated at times. Chrissie

    November Bandsters!

I went back to Doctor today and had lost 5 lbs in last 6 weeks. Finally a loss instead of a gain. Since the last time I saw him, I went to see the dietician. I was taking in 1000-1200 calories a day, since seeing her I am now eating 800-1000 (most days on the lower end). I am going to start going to the gym this week too, since I have a hard time being consistent with walking due to weather. My husbad has promised to help push me, which I have asked him to do because I need the motivation and hate the gym. But I am going to do this. I got another fill today, .25 cc, which brings me up to 6.50 cc. I feel alot of restriction today of course. Just hoping it lasts. This time of year isnt easy. Really wanting to get back where I was on the loss and make some new ground. Hope everyone else is doing well. I so admire you that were banded last year and have lost 50, 75, 100 lbs and more. You help me to know it IS possible. Chrissie

    Slow Losers - Unite!

I was banded on 11/29/06 so my bandiversary is coming up soon. I have been disappointed with my weight loss so far. Did good for the first 6 months, then it just stopped and had gained back 20. Now back down 5, for a total loss of 25 pounds. Definitely not what I expected. I wonder if I have stretched my stomach/pouch. For a long time I did not have proper restriction I know and was eating @ 8-12 ounces per meal. I have cut back and am now eating @ 6-8 ounces, but that still seems like too much. Yes, I am losing a little again, but just not sure I am where I should be or doing what I should do. I have had some unrelated health issues over the last 6 months, which I think caused depression/anxiety about the weight. I guess what I am trying to ask is....what do you do if you think you have stretched your stomach or band? Is there a diet you can do to get things back the way they should be? Should I just go back to stage 1 with liquids? If so, for how long? I could really use some help here. Thanks so much.

    November Bandsters!

:help:Hello my November Brothers and Sisters. I havent been on here in awhile, mostly because I haven't had anything good to report. I was a standstill for a couple of months, and have now actually gained back 18 pounds! I could just die! I know I dont get as much exercise as I need and I am trying to do better. But it seems everytime I get motivated, something happens. First I fell and hyperextended a ligament in my knee a few months ago, which is still causing me a lot of discomfort. Then I had to have some "female" surgery, which put me out of commision for awhile. As far as what I eat, I really do watch it and my portion size. Still have lots of issues with PBs and just simply alot of things I cant eat (which I have always seen as a blessing in disguise). Anyone have any advise, suggestions, comments, anything? I would appreciate any help. Thanks

    I'm from Tulsa, Oklahoma

Hi everybody, I know I havent been in here in a loooong time. I just dont get online that much anymore. I am very active with family and friends especially now that I can get outside. My life has changed so much in the last 6 months its amazing. I used to just come home from work and flop down on the couch, now I come in, change clothes, and go outside. Life is good. My husband says all the time, he cant believe how much energy I have now. Well just wanted to peek in a minute and let everyone know that everything is good, I just have a totally different lifestyle now. Hope all of you are well too. Hugs to all.
  11. Yes, this is a work in progress. The first 2 were taken the day of surgery and the last 2 were taken earlier this week. I still have a long way to go, but it's nice to see a little progress along the way. Thanks everyone for your support.

Who Has Lost Over 100 Pounds?!?!

All of you on this board are amazing! Congrats to each one. I dont know if you have any idea what an inspiration you are. I do have a question though. It seems that some lose the weight much faster than others. I am one of those slow losers. I had my surgery in Nov 2006 and have lost 37 lbs. While I am very happy with that, I must admit that I am envious of those who have lost 100 lbs in 6-7 months. What is your advise? What is your typical days' diet like? I know sometimes its the small things that make a huge difference. I am really interested to hear from this group. Thanks.
  13. Before my surgery I was wearing size 32/34 and too ashamed to buy a pair of jeans. I had not owned a pair of jeans in about 6 years. I seem to have lost alot more in inches than in pounds. I am now down to a 26/28 and my husband 's one request was that I buy some jeans. So last month at Lane Bryant, I did purchase a pair of 28 jeans (which are now almost too big :clap2: ). It really feels good to wear something you haven't wore in years. And the best part of it all, my husband can reach all the way around me now when he gives me a hug.

Congrats Tonya! Sounds like you are doing great. :cheer2: Everyone loses at a different pace, but we all have our ups and downs of weight loss. the liquid thing sucks yes, but only a few more days :scared: We are all rooting for you:welldoneclap:
  17. I dont really worry about failing. I know I will be successful with it. I also know it is a long road. I have been overweight all my life. I think others expect me to fail, which is discouraging and disappointing. I just wish others would keep their mouths shut if they cant be supportive. But I will succeed. Dammit I will !!!
  18. :help: I dont know about the rest of you, but I really wish now that I had kept my mouth shut and not told everyone I was having surgery. :speechles I thought by sharing with everyone that I was educating people and maybe encouraging others who are battling obsesity. And I dont know, maybe I am. But I am really frustrated with select few coming up to me every week asking the same :censored: questions..... "How much have you lost? Are you following your diet? Are you exercising? How much? What size do you wear now? I thought you would have lost ALOT more with surgery. Was it worth it? Wow you spent all that money and only lost _ lbs. Can I have your old clothes?" And one even have the audacity to come up to me in a restaurant while at lunch and say "oh I just came to see what you were eating ." :heh: Hello people! When did the world get so rude?! I am really frustrated. Yeah, I thought I would be losing faster too, but I am not telling my unsupporters that. I keep telling myself I didnt get to 380 overnite and its not going to come off overnite. The scale is moving in the right direction and thats all that should matter. right? Well I totally understand now why some people chose not to share with the world about this journey. Wishing I had been that smart. :phanvan

    November Bandsters!

good luck with your next fill. I am going next week for my second fill and hoping for more restriction. I feel the same way about wishing I hadnt told everyone....now certain ones ask me "how much have you lost? are you sticking to your diet?" :faint: I guess there are some people who are just waiting for me to fail. But I wont fail this time. I wont!!!! and neither will you.
  20. You can buy an "obesity scale" on ebay that goes up to 550 pounds. I bought one back in November so I could weigh in between doctor visits. Think I paid less than $50.

I am just south of Tulsa and I was self-pay. Dr Fisher at Surgical Associates and Southcrest hospital both give a discount for self-payers. It's still not cheap, but it is certainly worth it! Also some insurances will cover you from day one, other consider obesity a pre-existing condition and you will have a waiting period. Just check with your company. Good luck. Also one thing to think about if going to Mexico is where are you going to get your fills and do your follow-up after you get back? Most doctors around here wont do them if you had surgery done elsewhere.

    November Bandsters!

:update: I went on vacation for 2 weeks and thoroughly enjoyed it. Was able to walk and breathe at the same time! :high5: Y'all know what a good feeling that is! I took off work the whole month of December and although I dont see big changes when I look in the mirror, all my coworkers and family notice immediately. I had my first fill last week (3cc) and Dr. Fisher says I am right on track with what he expects. Of course, I wish I would wake up and be 100 pounds thinner, but ultimately I am happy as long as the scale is moving down. :welldone: I am moving and that is really alot! I know I will lose it. I didnt get to 380 overnight and I dont expect to get to 180 overnight either. I am just trying to maintain a positive attitude and be a healthier person. Oh yeah, and I got married to my best friend and biggest supporter while I was on vacation in Vegas. I am attaching a picture.
