    Psych Eval

Monday is my Psych Eval! I’m super nervous about it. I’ve had to wait forever for it. I hope once I pass this part the surgeon appointment comes quick. I’m down 20lbs since orientation so I hope he sees this as progress. I just hope I don’t have to wait another month for a surgeon appointment.

Hi! I had the same issue when I first started wearing mine 8 months ago. It does get better. You’re recording great hours for the beginning. Stay consistent and keep it up. It will get better. Make sure your mask is leak free but comfortable...what really helped me is that I started wearing it while watching TV at night before bed and while being on my phone so my mind and body got used to it and I became more relaxed with it. Stay with it
  8. Hi everyone hope you’re well, I’ve been on the pre-op diet for three weeks and I was very nervous because I had a scheduled trip to Las Vegas. Before the trip I had been meal prepping, measuring my food, weighing my food, etc. so naturally I was very nervous for what I was going to have to go through Las Vegas because all my friends were going and I knew I could not eat as I normally would or drink any alcohol whatsoever. It was very difficult because all the options are fast food and restaurants so I made sure to order the most protein dishes but I found myself eating more larger portions than I should have. I did a lot of walking and I took the stairs when possible. I was there for five whole days no desserts sticking with three meals a day and no snacking while watching all my other friends eat anything they wanted. I was so nervous to get up this morning and weighed myself since today is my first day home because I have my psychologist appointment on Monday. I wanted to show progress but I was so scared that this trip may have set me back. I am so excited to announce that I am actually down four more pounds while on my trip in Vegas putting my total weight loss in the past three weeks on pre op diet to 21 pounds. Thank you God!

  13. Hi Everyone, I attended my orientation yesterday and received my pre op nutrition guidelines. Today was my first day following it completely and I am feeling terrible. I’m weak, light headed, headache, and hungry. My psych appointment isn’t until February 26th [emoji24]. I know I’m doing the right thing by trying to lose weight before the appointment. However I am soo not myself. I even had to leave work early today because I I feel yukky. It’s probably a combination of caffeine withdrawals and food withdrawals... doesn’t make it any easier. This is HARD.

    Pre Op Diet Nightmare

Hi:) The way my insurance works is if we show progress by the time the Psych get appt gets here and the surgeon appointment then you are scheduled quicker. During orientation we were to told to start the diet. My psych is in 2 weeks and then he will schedule me with the surgeon appt. They will go by your beginning weight from orientation. So they said the speed of the processes is up to me. Hopefully the surgeon says I’ve done well and gets me an appt with the case manager who will schedule my date. [emoji4]
  16. Hi Everyone, I had my orientation last Thursday. We then received our next appointment which mine is with the Psych for February 26th. They said this process will go as fast as we want it to, however I feel sooo discouraged sometimes with the length in between the appointments. I started the pre op diet (not liquid) the very day after orientation so that I can show progress. I’m on Day 5, and haven’t gone off of the diet. It’s been rough! But what makes it even more difficult is the fact that I haven’t even met my surgeon yet or have a weight loss goal. Everyone keeps saying he will take in my beginning weight into consideration when creating a goal weight. I’m hoping that I can be enough on track for him to say “let’s get you scheduled with the case manager”. I went to my first support group so I have that crossed off my list. I just REALLY want this and can’t wait for the surgery to get here. However the not knowing anything makes me feel like I am walking in the dark:(. I hope I’m not starting this pre op diet too early. Any advice?

Wow that’s tough. I am so glad my insurance doesn’t require that. You’re right. I need to just take a deep breathe... I’m on this diet and I’ve lost 14 pounds so far. I’m really curious as to what they will require me to lose

    Proper diet?

Hang in there, you’re in for a bumpy ride. My last meal was Taco Bell hahaha [emoji30]

    Proper diet?

I’m right there with you. I just had my orientation last Thursday. I started my prep op diet the very next day. It’s been rough. I cut out all carbonated, caffeinated, and sugar beverages. No coffee, no tea, nothing. My plan has me on about 1200 calorie diet. It’s about 3oz of protein, 2 cups of raw veggies, or 1 cup of cooked, one starch, and one fat like 1oz avocado or 1oz oil. I’ve been doing well with 3oz of chicken (I weigh it on scale), broccoli, mini sweet peppers, turkey lunch meat on 1 slice of whole grain bread... 1/2 cup small potatoes for my starch. Ect. Lots and lots of water . The first 3 or 4 days were the WORST! Very hard! Headaches, no energy, nothing. Be prepared. But it will pass. I don’t even have my surgeon appt yet. I meet with my psych in about 2 weeks, and I wanted to show that I am ready.
  21. Nice! Were they pleased with the 10% you lost? Didn’t give you an additional goal did they?
  22. Did you get your date??

Thank you. I just wish I had my surgeon appointment to tell me what he wants me to lose. You’re right though- they all count in this journey. My focus is on being approved and scheduled for surgery. It drives me crazy that I have my psych appointment before my surgeon consult...

    Pre Op Diet Nightmare

I haven’t met the nutritionist for a personal appointment yet, only had the orientation with the binder and they give you the nutrition plan. They said the processes is in your hands so the speed things move is up to me. So I wanted to get start. I should have gradually did it. Like first replacing dinner with their dinners... then lunches, then breakfast. I just started doing it. I used to eat really bad, fast food once or twice a day, soda, sweets. So I know I will lose weight if I gradually start. My fear is getting declined by the Psych before I meet the surgeon.
