    day one of liquids

I wanted to let you know that I used to live in Slidell, LA if ever there is a place that loves their food it is Louisiana!! I applaud you in your decision! Nancy
  3. I totally agree that you have been given a wonderful Birthday gift!! The decision that you need to take charge and do something for YOU!! My pcp is the one that suggested that I have the lap band!! My cardiologist actually asked me if I met the critieria!!! What a hoot that was when I told my pcp!! My pcp just about flipped when he heard that one!! He told me that he could strangle that other Dr for asking me such a stupid question. Anyway, you need to find another pcp one that will offer you encouragment in your quest to be healthy. You would think that they would want that for you above all, but I guess not in your case. I wish for you the best in your search for what it right for YOU in your search for a new life. Nancy

    day one of liquids

I have not had to do the liquid stuff yet. Only watching what I am eating to try and drop a few pounds before my banding date of the 16th!! I have lost 7 pounds and that is good for me. I am goint to do this right and I have been blessed with such a wide circle of support. I have to admit that I am not really looking forward to the two weeks of nothing but liquids. But I will try my best to do what is needed to be done to get me on the right path to a new me!! I am so glad that all of you are here to share your thoughts and ideas and of course your encouragement. Keep strong and you will do it!! Nancy

    Tylenol Cold preop?

I would not take anything unless you check with your Doctor. The motrin and the advil and things like that contain asprin which can affect your clotting factor. You would not want to have blood that is too thin when you are going to have surgery.. I am confused about the Vitamins. I wonder why they would tell you that? Please let me know why, if you ever find out that is. *smile* Nancy:rolleyes2:

    O.M. Goodness My Co-Worker...

I can only hope that she can get help for her addiction. It was hard for me but it took a hard lesson for me to realize that I needed to change my way of life. Poor thing she has nothing else in her life to give her the pleasure that food does. That is so sad. I had to find something else to take my mind off of the pleasures of food. That was some doing, I can tell you!! LOL!! I know that you will be strong and you might even inspire your co-worker to change her ways! You know, lead by example!! Keep on being strong for yourself and try to ignore your co-worker and her bad habits. Nancy
  7. I wanted to say that I have been one of the blessed ones that has gotten nothing but support from those that I have told about my decision. I guess I should say that 2 people asked me if I was going to do this for my boyfriend. I told them nope! It was for me!!! The ladies in my office are being more than kind to me in helping me stick to my dietary restrictions. It has been a very positive time for me. I am truly blesesd to have all of this happening for me. I hope for you the same. Nancy:rolleyes2:

    O.M. Goodness My Co-Worker...

I wanted to say that I feel sorry for your co-worker. If she truly is addicted then she has a very serious problem and deserves pity not bashing. My mother is like that and it is very hard for us to keep her on the right track. She is 74 and I tell you she is like a true addict in her behaviour. We cannot leave anything out or she will eat it, and I mean eat it all!! She is miserable due to health reasons and then she wonders why we are concerned that she weighs the amount she does. She has lost 100 pounds only by us helping her in her restriction of her food. That was a job!! But she is doing better now, as she lives in a care facility, as long as there is nothing there to tempt her. If we give her some candy for a gift, she will eat the whole box right then and there. So needless to say we do not give her more than a piece or two at most at any one time. As I have some others in my family that are addicts of one thing or another, your co-worker has all the markings of one. You know that old saying that mysery loves company. You should be glad that you do not have that problem and you will be the better for doing what you are going to do to take care of your weight. I know that I am a food junkie and have to do this to help me break my cycle of gaining and losing and gaining it back again. I can only hope that you will not allow her to drag you down with her and you manage to stay strong and maybe even help her (if you can) some cannot be helped and those are the ones that I really feel sorry for. Hello From El Paso, Texas!!

I am being banded in the US. I am being seen by a very good team of Doctors and I feel comfortable with all of them. Since I do not speak Spanish, I would have a terrible time with communication. *smile* besides, the lines going back an forth over the border are way too long for me to sit patiently in. *giggle* I am not that patient. Nancy
