    I’m so ashamed

I had a food funeral(s) about 2 weeks before I started pre-op. It seems like a rite of passage when we are doing this kind of surgery for some of us. You've got this!
  2. My "baby" turns 14 today. This year I give her the gift of a mother who can do things with her now that I couldn't before.

    Bratwurst?

As a healthier option, many grocery stores carry chicken sausage. I tend to stay away from it since it does have a high amount of fat.
  4. Okay, so I have never had hemorrhoids prior to surgery that were bothersome. I have had 2 children so yes I have them. So now every time I go poop I am in horrible pain because of the hard stool and the hemorrhoids. It took me 7 hours to poop today and I was so sick to my stomach I couldn't work. I felt like I gave birth to my 3rd child. What are people doing for hemorrhoids now that the stool is hard. I was in tears I was in so much pain. I am still bleeding from when I did finally go. I can't sit on a chair without being in pain. Thanks in advance for constructive advice.

    Any idea why?

I drink constantly throughout my workouts otherwise I feel like I might pass out afterwards. My legs are like jelly and wobbly if I don't drink throughout.
  6. Do you mind if I ask how approximately much you pay for a personal trainer? I am looking to start with one myself soon. Thanks.
  7. I am down from a size 28 to a solid 20. I can even fit into some 18/20s. The motivation I feel when I see myself in these smaller clothes is incredible. I almost don't recognize myself because the transformation is pretty drastic. I met with a personal trainer yesterday that they offer at my office's fitness center and got some basic info. He is going to give me 2 free "trial" sessions if I sign up for at least 2 additional sessions. I am pretty sure I am going to sign up. I am making this the summer of SleeveinIL! I can't be the mother, wife, caregiver and anything else I want/need to be unless I am healthy. Food is fuel! I see the scale moving again and that is also very motivating for me as well. NSV this week...taking a bath (first since before surgery) and my behind and thighs weren't mashed up against the sides of the tub not allowing the water to flow between the front and the back of the tub. The water was able to move around and nothing of me touched the sides of the tub unless I physically moved my legs there. This surgery is giving me some confidence back for sure. I even updated my photo at work because I don't look like that anymore!

It's funny you mention the photo at work! I got questioned a bar this past weekend because my picture didn't look like me anymore. Congrats! You may have inspired me to take a bath :)

Post op concerns- phase two foods

I couldn't stomach many foods or smells in the first couple of weeks post-op. I even had some vertigo issues as well. It did go away over time. By week 4 I was in good shape. I am 12 weeks out now, and I am pretty much back to my normal.

    Outstanding bills

Do you have any additional information? What were the bills for, maybe the hospital stay/surgery? I know my primary insurance covered my surgeon with no problem, but not the hospital he would perform the surgery at. The ins required a Center of Excellence. Thankfully my secondary covered it as primary. Without any additional info, the coworkers need to inquire what the bills are for, if they have been submitted to their insurance, and follow up with the insurance as needed. Sometimes bills get separated from the pre-approval case number and the two need to be matched up. It is also possible the ins requires additional info to pay the bill and haven't received it from the doctor/facility. Too many "what ifs" here.

    How often do you eat?

That is just plan old not right. It sounds dangerous if you follow that advice. I am 3 months out and my guidelines are 600-800 calories a day, 60-80 g protein and min 65 oz water a day.

    Taste!

I had a similar issue for a few weeks after surgery. It waned over time and now only a few things bother me. My worst is Pam butter spray. Makes me green.

    The Numbers Are Adding Up

This is a great post. You are losing right on track, keep it up! I am 12 weeks out (as of tomorrow) and am down a total of 67 lbs from my high weight. Of those, 33 lbs since my surgery date. So I am losing an average of about 2.75 lbs a week. When I think of my loss weight loss broken down like this it helps as I feel like I haven't been losing like I "think" I should. I am impatient I guess.

Recommendations for sugar free treats please

Yes, we used Splenda to make the recipe. It was yummy. I would add a little more Splenda if I make again but that is all to taste.

    Aetna Insurance

I also have Aetna and I had a response within a few days, but our plans may be different. The thing Aetna threw at me last minute is the surgery had to be at a hospital considered a "center of excellence". I am in the Chicagoland area and there are only 9 hospitals with the closest being 40 minutes away that are centers of excellence. Of course my surgeon didn't have privileges at that hospital so last minute everything got tossed into a whirlwind. Your plan might not require this, however mine did.

    First Nutrition Visit

My appointments usually started with weigh in and BP. The appointments were quick and I saw a weight loss DR and a nutritionist, and we spoke about refining my diet pre-surgery. Mine put me on a 100 grams of Carbs or less/day eating plan. No calorie limit - think Keto. I had to show that I was able to lose. I dropped 26 lbs in the 3 mos prior to surgery. I am still seeing my nutritionist but now it is every other month. I have Aetna Ins.

Recommendations for sugar free treats please

I have to say that Jello-o SF chocolate pudding is my go to treat. I have also tried the Enlightened "ice cream" bars once a week (my nutritionist approved) which also has protein in it (they are low sugar not SF). I have also made homemade Keto "brownies" which are completely SF and were delicious. Texture reminded me more of a cheesecake than a brownie when refrigerated. If you'd like the recipe, I will be happy to share.

    NSV Today!

How exciting! I can't wait to join you. Congrats!
  22. I had a great morning. Weighed in and am at 239. Finally went from Morbidly Obese to Severely Obese.  Who knew celebrating obesity is a thing?  LOL Saw the nutritionist today. She is very pleased with my weight loss since my last visit which is 15 lbs. I have been remiss in taking my iron since the whole bathroom impaction deal and she wants me to get back on it due to the anemia I have. I promised her I would. All in all the appointment went well. On another note, I have also noticed increased hair loss the last few days. I know it is normal, but having previously lost my hair due to chemo, I am not a fan of losing any again. Let's hope it is just a few more than the normal shedding. I am taking Biotin and Horsetail but that doesn't seem to impact the loss. I am up to 45 min on the elliptical or the treadmill and free weights on the upper body several times a week. It feels good except for my bad knee I need to have that checked out again. Oh, one last observation, I am now under 100 lbs of weight left to lose to my goal weight. It is the weight I chose, not a weight that was determined by my doctors. I am very curious what they think my goal weight should be.  I'm going to make a note to ask about that at my next appointment.
