  1. Saw the surgeon yesterday. He is very pleased with my loss thus far. I am averaging about 10 lbs a month. Turns out my nutritionist and my surgeon have vastly differing ideas on how many calories I should be eating right now. Nut put me on 1K a day. Surgeon said nope, they are wrong, go to 800/day. Too bad I have been following what the Nut advised. I could have lost more weight already. Oh well, I will do it now! I am also going to add another day of working out to help break this stall I have been in since 8/28. I am very happy as this week I was able to get into a size XL shirt and I am wavering on pants sizes, but I am wearing a lot of size 18 that are too big or are getting too big. The inches are still dropping off nicely. I saw my parents for the first time after a long time this past weekend (they live out of state) and my Dad who never says anything gave me some super nice compliments. My sister also did...her words as we were trekking through the airport on a long upward ramp were along the lines of "Before the mind was willing but the body wasn't. Now your mind and body are in sync. Before we would have had to have stopped at least once and now you aren't even phased by this." What a great thing to have someone recognize.

I was there yesterday too! My appointment was at 1:30pm. And its crazy that they told you 800 calories per day, when they told me 1k yesterday, but I've got my own agenda lol.

Were you up here??? I am sorry I missed you. My appointment was at 1:15 so it seems we may have just missed each other!!! When do you see him for the 9 month? Maybe we could meet up and say hi!

Oh my gosh, that's a gag... we literally just missed each other! It was technically my 9 month appointment, even though I'm only 8 months post op. I missed my 6 month, so I went a month early to my 9 month. I probably won't be back up until my year appointment, but if I come sooner, I'll be sure to let you know!

    How do you Move it?

I work out with a personal trainer Mon and Wed for 30 min then I do an additional 30 - 50 minutes on elliptical or a combination of stair stepper and elliptical. Rest of the time I break it up and do treadmill, walk outside, elliptical, stair stepper. I also take a 45 min yoga core class and a 20 minutes arms/abs class on Tuesdays. My office has a gym with 2 trainers. They have classes every day and they also offer 30 and 60 min personal training (for a fee of course). I find I am not good at doing exercise when I am at home because of all the other items pulling at my calendar so I come into work early or leave late to accommodate getting workouts in.

Post op pain - be honest

I had sleeve and had no gas pain, no pain walking, etc. The worst pain was the shots I had to do for 10 days to prevent blood clots! As soon as I was home after 2 days in the hospital I stopped all pain meds as I didn't really need them and I found them binding and contributing to my constipation. I still have no pain, nada, nothing, almost like the surgery wasn't done. I guess I am one of the lucky ones.

    Checking in

Oh my goodness! Feel better. I hope things are turned around now and keep going that way.

    Compression clothing?

I wear compression capri leggings to keep my stomach from jiggling. Lane Bryant sells them. I am sure other stores also sell that kind of pant. It makes a HUGE difference when I am working out and then I just have to concentrate on not passing gas instead of my belly jiggle!
  6. I only felt restricted for about a month. Now I do not have that feeling anymore. I was sleeved on 3/16/18. I have had absolutely no complications and at times wonder if I really had the surgery as nothing bothers my sleeve and I mean nothing.

    Mosquito Bites??

Totally not WL related rant coming. So what is with all these mosquito bites I am now getting? *scratch**scratch* I usually can skate through a summer with only a few and Saturday night I was outside for a few hours WITH bug spray on and those darn bugs ate my feet like I was throwing a party just for them! Seriously, *scratch**scratch* I can barely even wear shoes as I had flip flops on and the only part of my feet that are unscathed are the bottoms.*scratch**scratch* UGH!! *scratch**scratch* Those nasty little blood suckers must think I am tasty now that I have lost weight. *scratch* *scratch*
  8. I have seen people post about the Squatty Potty here and wanted to share that Aldi has a knock off version for $9.99 in store right now. Just wanted to share.

    Anyone eat omelets?

Oh yes, I did eat them and it was wonderful. I had no issues, just make sure to chew.

    ONEderland...blessed!

I can't imagine he won't be. I go back for my 6 month on 9/18. I have been averaging a loss of about 11 lbs a month. I was told at the 3 month mark that was right on track. I am anxious to go back as I had some strange blood levels the last time so I have to repeat all the tests again for the 6 month visit.
  13. SleeveinIL

    I've lost as much as...

And you are rocking it girl!

  16. Today I hit 216 and officially weigh less than my husband. That hasn't happened ever in our relationship and I am celebrating this exciting first! Small victories like this keep me going. :D

Congrats! I am soooo jealous. I have never weighed less than my 6'1" husband! But in about 16 more pounds . . . (If he doesn't drop 10 pounds by skipping lunch one day ;))

      Love it! Congrats!

  17. I have done lasers at the dermatologist's office (stronger lasers) and have been doing my lip, chin and jaw line. I have been going for almost a year and am still fighting hair growth. I was told my hair follicles are very deep so it will take longer. I am also an ideal candidate - fair skin, very dark hair. Oh, lasers do not work on hair that has already turned white. Those babies I will be plucking forever.

    Kayak Adventure!

Looks like fun! So exciting that you were able to do something you love again.

    What were your starting workouts?

I started with elliptical due to having a tricky knee which has bone on bone. Soon afterwards I hired a personal trainer and see him twice a week. They push me pretty hard these days. Some things I can do, others I am striving to do. My only complaint is now that I am so gassy, sometimes when I work out things just slip out, especially when I am doing core work.
  20. SleeveinIL

    15 month progress.

    Absolutely stunning. Congrats!
  21. My weight loss has been slow - only 51 lbs since surgery, but 89 lbs overall. I just entered the 2-teens (219) and am so excited that onederland isn't too far away. I wish I had done this surgery sooner in my life!
  22. SleeveinIL

    WHY?

I can't speak for others, but I chose my surgery based on the least invasive. Having had cancer 6 years ago, I am leery of doing too much to my body but wanted to have the surgery done. I hope that makes sense? So far so good as I have lost quite a bit of weight already, but I have more to go to get to a healthy BMI. The part that I do know, is I CAN get there. I have had the surgery and I work with a psychologist that is helping me emotionally and that balance has been tremendous. The tool is only as good as what we put into it.
  23. Stall is finally broken and I am losing again. Stalls suck but I understand them much better now. I am still feeling great and have kicked my workouts up a notch. I went to an arm/abs class that turned out to be all men and "me".  The dudes walked in with their 30 lb hand weights and I have my little 7.5/10 lbs and I was thinking to myself...what did I get myself into, and am I going to embarrass myself?  Well I decided to stick it out and although I couldn't do everything the dudes were doing, I did a pretty darn good job of keeping up and I am proud of myself for being able to stick with it. I decided I am going back again tomorrow and I am going to kill it again. I belong there too!

I'm embarrassed to say this, but I'm afraid to run. Scared to death that I'll damage my knees or break a bone in my feet. I don't know how far down I'll have to go before this isn't a fear for me.

    2. SleeveinIL

I am afraid to run as well. My left knee is bone on bone but I had to try it and see if I could actually do it. I will not be doing it on a regular basis tho. The pain in the knee is killing me today. I have done everything but have a knee replacement and nothing has helped. Doc doesn't really want me to get one at my age. He says I am too young.

That sounds awful. And no ibuprofen. (I soooo miss my ibuprofen :()

I spoke with a co-worker today who was sleeved about a year and a half ago. She just started taking fairly large amounts of ibuprofen. I think she misunderstood the pharmacist, or maybe the pharmacist didn't know she'd had wls, but I told her that my dr. strictly forbade it. She googled it and now understands. I told her to speak with her dr.

  24. My husband recently told me that he is starting to find me attractive again. I am almost to the weight I was when we married (11 lbs to go). I am sure there are other factors in here, but this is the one that I chose to hear during the conversation. Let's just say physical intimacy was down to nothing the past few years...
  25. I ate real ice cream on vacation and I had 3 glasses of wine at a wedding over 5 hours. Neither of these items bothered me at all and I didn't get drunk. I was dancing all evening which could have helped.
