I am from the Chicagoland area here and March 16th is the big day. Just started my pre-op liquid diet today. This is getting real!!!!
-
I started my pre-op today. I am using Bariatric Advantage protein and am supposed to consume 4 - 5 shakes per day (so far I have done 4) with a total consumption of between 700 - 900 calories per day. I also have the same guidelines as yourself for other liquids and sugar free jello. I feel like I have survived day one! The one thing I think I need to be more aware of is I let myself get too hungry at dinnertime and even though I had a shake my brain thinks I am still hungry. I have been satisfied with the shakes so far. Hardest things for me today was cooking dinner for my family and I feel like I am always in the bathroom having to pee.

I have Aetna and I had to do one at home first. Once that one showed apnea then I had to go do a sleep study at the hospital. I did hear other insurances do not require the at home one first. This is just my experience.

Hiatal Hernia found in pre-op testing and something else...

Thanks everyone. I hope the plan is to fix it so it goes away. I am still very concerned about the extra thing they found. Won't know more about that until after the surgery. I hope they decided to remove it and have it biopsied. -
I also have Aetna and I only had to do 3 consecutive months of Nutrition counseling before scheduling a surgery date. My BMI is 45 so I didn't have to worry about the pre-surgical weight loss. I hope all goes well for you. Aetna has actually been pretty good about answering my questions so far.

Begin Pre-op Liquid diet tomorrow!
SleeveinIL posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My sleeve surgery is on 3/16 and I start the pre-op liquid diet tomorrow. How did people manage eating the liquids at the office? We don't have a blender available to us and I was thinking some of the mix-ins won't blend enough in the shaker. Any tips or suggestions? Also, did you make your shakes and night and then pack them to go with you already blended, or did you make fresh? I have to use Bariatric Advantage per my doctor's orders. I chose chocolate and vanilla for the base. Thanks in advance. I want to do this right. -
Intro time: who's new to the group, who's pre-op, & who just recently made it to the loser's bench?

One thing they discovered when the submitted everything to the secondary insurance is I had to have my surgery at a different hospital for the procedure to be covered. Changed my date from 3/12 to 3/16. I was disappointed, but not as unhappy as I would have been if my secondary Ins didn’t cover the procedure! -

i’m super irritated with my surgeon’s office. My surgery was scheduled for 3/12. They suddenly realized my secondary Ins BCbSIL requires my surgery to be at a “blue star” hospital. Sooooo my new date is 3/16. I realize it’s just a few days but I really do not want to have surgery at this hospital. My husband was treated there in the ER and they completely missed his gall stones. Sent us off and went on vacation to Napa and he ended up right back in the hospital vomiting and in severe pain and the doctor there said well I can see your gall stones on the ultrasound results. Didn’t they tell you that you have gall stones? Nope hey didn’t. So now I’m irritated my doctor office suddenly realized this requirement, I have to go to a hospital I don’t want to use, and I have to rearrange my time off at work. I’m sorry to vent but I know this is a safe place. Don’t you think the doctor office should have checked with my secondary Ins before today? What if there were more requirements? -
How to tell older kids Mom's having weight loss surgery?
SleeveinIL posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a 13 year old and a 16 year old daughter and I am debating how to tell them about my surgery. I don't want to cause them any body issues. I am also nervous about their support because their spring break will be spent at home because of my recovery. Spring break will be 2 weeks after the surgery. Thoughts are appreciated. -
My insurance is Aetna PPO

Hi. I just joined the group. I am in the pre stage where you visit all the doctors and I am doing nutrition counseling as a requirement from my insurance. I am nervous and excited. My surgery date is 3/12/2018 as long as everything falls into place. -
I did my evaluation after the doctor contacted my insurance for benefits. Just completed it last week.

Surgery date March 13th.

Hi! I am also new to the forums. My surgery is scheduled one day before yours on 3/12. I am excited and nervous and am also looking for buddies. I start my liquid diet 2 weeks before surgery, same as you. I found out today from my pulmonoligist that I will have to give myself shots of blood thinner for a while after surgery. Have you heard if you have to do the same thing? Not thrilled with shots. -

Hi I am brand new to this forum. Actually this is my first post. My surgery is scheduled for the EXACT same day as yours. I am doing nutrition counseling as part of my insurance requirements. I am on 100g (or less) of carbs per day. Not counting calories, no liquids yet. 2 weeks before surgery I have to do an all liquid diet for all meals. -
