  1. I am 6 months post op from roux en y. I'm wondering if anyone has used any supplements from young living as your daily multivitamin? The program I am in suggests the Jamieson chewable multivitamin. I just don't think these are the best vitamins. Multivitamins infused with essential oils absorb faster.     I need help

    Why are you doing this? What do you want to accomplish? Who do you feel accountable to? Think of those things when you're struggling. You can do anything you set your mind to. I was terrified of the liquid diet stage. I started January 1st, and wasn't on soft foods until February 1st. It was easy before because I didn't have to think about what to prepare.     To tell or not to tell

    I've told tons of people. I am a hairstylists. I talk to my clients about it. They want to know more. Some have also had it done. Plus when a person in great physical health tells you they would not have the strength or willpower for a 2 week liquid pre op diet, it helps to sink in that this truely isn't the easy way out.     1st Dietician Class

    Hi NocaLove, I understand it's easy to get overwhelmed. I am in no way a dietician on an expert so please understand my advice may not be the best. My focus is always on balance. I need to balance the macronutrients (proteins, carbs, fats) in my meals. Although you should be aware of calories, they are not as important as understanding how to fuel your body with nutrients. Choose whole foods. "Diet, low fat and low sugar" type foods aren't what I consider whole foods. Choose foods naturally low in sugar instead of sweetened with some type of chemical.     Big Ward

    I'm just watching the 3rd episode right now. I must say I don't understand how this is a last resort for people. If this breakfast of KFC sandwiches is you trying everything to lose weight, what the hell were they doing before. I've had rny in January and my biggest complaint about the program I'm in is that it's for people who have never really done anything but fad diets. I changed my life about 8 years ago. My diet is better than most thin people, I am a triathlete, yet I'm 100lbs over weight. When I ask questions about fueling for races, my dietician and surgeon don't give specific answers.     Snacks

    My favorite go to is Greek yogurt mixed with powdered peanut butter and protein powder (I prefer chocolate but good with vanilla or banana flavour). I also like to sometimes add cinnamon.   7. I'm following this thread. I'm in a similar situation. I am 6 weeks post op. Before surgery I trained hard as a triathlete, so swimming, cycling, running and strength training. I am currently following my post op diet but I have no energy. My program requires me to get 60-80g proteins per day. My trainer thinks this is way too low. I'm finding the bariatric program to be out of date. Lots of talk about calories, low fat, sugar free foods. Instead of balancing macros I'm taught to only look at calories. The protein is the only macro they talk about and only to stay within that range. My trainer says I need way more as an endurance athlete. I guess they are not used to dealing with athletes.   9. I am 5 weeks post op from RNY. I have struggled to get all my water in. Mostly because of my drinking style. I gulp. I practiced for months before surgery to take small sips and after surgery I think I'm taking small sips but it still hurts. I'm also very thirsty since I feel full after 2 sips. I recently started using my food processor to chop ice. I eat the ice because it quenches my thirst. Today a friend told me that eating ice chips can actually dehydrate you. Is this true? If so why? I have not asked the almighty Google yet, but am headed there next.
  10. Hi all, I am 4 weeks post-op today. My surgeon/dietitian recommend eating 60-80g of protein per day. It also says not to exceed this amount. At my 6 week check up I will be able to start trying more solid foods but still the recommended protein is 60-80g, and this is the life long recommended from my program. Yesterday while talking with my fitness coach (I am a triathlete) he wondered why it was so low. We agreed I would follow my program recommendations but would ask at my 6 week appointment why this is so low. I am curious to know what other surgeons/programs have recommended.

    Carbonated beverages

    Why don't you try infused water. Tons of flavours to try and mix and match. My favourites are Apple cinnamon (good hot or cold), mint cucumber, and vanilla bean. Get yourself a cup or jug that's meant for diffusing and be sure to let it sit long enough to get good flavour.
