    Most important..

My advice is not to buy too much. I bought way more liquid, pureed and soft foods than I even came close to eating. So much I gave or threw away.
  2. Continuing the theme of posting my "bad" meals here, and my "good" meals on the Before and After thread, as to try to limit my corrupting influence (we are all too far gone here for me to worry about j) Various crap at an airport lounge Mini brat in a pretzel bun, chicken nuggets on top of buffalo sauce, steamed carrots, cheese ravioli in marinara @GreenTealael, this lounge was far less fancy than the last! I seem to have a lot more capacity w soft food, than dense protein. I know that is normal, but pretty new for me, when I didn't have a lot of sliders up until recently
  3. I was on and off Depo for years. My favorite bc, EVER. But I got scared off because of the effects on calcium and bone density. https://nwhn.org/depo-provera-and-bone-mineral-density/ Also when I went off depo after 3 years, it took me over a year to get my period back. I didn't like that the hormones had built up in my body for that long. Also if I had wanted to become pregnant during that time.it wouldn't have been possible. I got the Mirena IUD just prior to my WLS. I agree, it hurt like a b*tch, and I have irregular spotting both light and heavy since. But I like that is is the most effective form of bc, and I don't need to remember to take a pill, or go get a shot, etc.
  4. I got this in my fortune cookie today (yes, shouldn't have eaten a fortune cookie ) I don't need courage, I need a flat tummy, non saggy thighs .... sigh!
  5. I agree, that seems unrealistic, and unnecessary on clear liquids.
  6. "Your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR is the amount of calories you would burn if you were asleep all day." Here is a calculator. But it is a rough estimation, at best. https://manytools.org/handy/bmr-calculator/ Higher is better, but other than adding muscle mass, a lot of it is out of our control. Ok, I like your NUT much better than your surgeon. I think a low cal protein dense shake can help boost protein intake, without forcing another "meal" down, and keeping cals low.
  7. Hmm ... I think that is a very aggressive goal by your Dr. You have to have a calorie deficit of 3,500 calories to lose 1 lb. So by your surgeon's goals you should have a 2,300 calorie deficit each day. Your BMR may not even be that high.

It was a fancy @$$ lounge. It's hard to resist the fancy drinks when they are free
  9. That is so great! Congrats!!!!!

    Dating

It's really not that bad. You just meet at a busy public place, have your wits about you. I'm sure there are millions of first dates that happen everyday. Nothing to be scared about.
  11. I agree with this. I might not need Cheerios ... but Cheetos ... maybe

    Gum after surgery??

Sleeved here .... but no issue with gum whatsoever.

    Non Scale Victories

I'm in total agreement on everything but heels in airports. That's just crazy talk!

How fast can I bounce back?

I agree with this. I could have done it. I took no time off, but I work from home. I was back to full work travel at week 3 post op. But not everyone has the same easy recovery.
  15. From a personal perspective, I have no issues w blood sugar, seemingly no diabetes risk, etc. My interest in "diets" is purely from a weight loss perspective. The support for low carb = greater weight loss is not at all universal. For instance, this recent study http://med.stanford.edu/news/all-news/2018/02/low-fat-or-low-carb-its-a-draw-study-finds.html And this article cites a few different studies https://www.vox.com/2018/2/21/17036004/do-low-carb-diets-work I'm not a member of any coven, just someone for whom a long term low carb diet is unsustainable.

Let's talk about date night (or gals' night or...)

I agree, you can still do Netflix and chill, but have it fit in your new healthier lifestyle. Order in Thai (lots of yummy protein based options), middle eastern kabobs, sashimi, poke, etc.
  18. Checking in .. Continue to have a craptastic week. I technically did a 14 hr fast, but I don't think it counts since I broke the fast with a Totinos pizza roll. Trade show is over, but will be wine-ing and dining tomorrow, so no real improvement in either my diet nor motivation in the forecast. Was funny this week, saw lots of people I haven't seen in the last year. I can't tell you how many people straight up didn't recognize me. Good thing I had a name badge on. Glad everyone here is having so much success, I'm so happy for y'all!
  19. Best workout ever .... beats the gym any day!

    Non Scale Victories

At a trade show this week. Usually miserable with sore feet and back. I'm 100% fine this year. Younger and skinnier people were complaining how much they hurt, no idea how I had no pain at all!

    That counts!
  22. This is the song that pops into my head
  23. Thanks @FluffyChix I am glad that this does feel like a temporary f*ck it phase, and not a long term, who gives a crap type thing. I am confident that after I come back from vacay, I'll be able to get back on the wagon, or at least make healthy choices a majority of the time.
  24. Thanks ... I mean, it's easy to use the traveling as an excuse. But it is entirely possible to make good choices, even while traveling for work. I'm just not motivated to do so right now.
