Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability
sillykitty replied to FluffyChix's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
What's everyone's Thanksgiving plans? Casa SK is turning out baked goods in the predawn hours, cornbread and cheddar biscuits. Then will go over to my mom's house. I cook, she hosts, since she has the bigger house, but I am the better cook. It will be a very traditional spread, turkey, stuffing, mash, green beans, etc. Nothing at all bariatric about it. Will be hosting the extended family plus a few friends, about 20 peeps total. Making a few compromises this year because of how busy I've been coming up to the holiday. Pies have been purchased, instead of me making them. Kind of kills me, but I didn't have the time or energy to get them done this year. My mom begged me to let her buy Costco premade mashed potatoes. She tells me they taste as good as mine and don't require peeling 20 lbs of potatoes . We'll see ... -

Thanks for all the feedback on the pass code situation. Too funny you took a survey @GreenTealael I think my take away is I'm gong to wait and see, and not worry about it until the time comes. Hopefully by that point he'll see I'm not a controlling person, and he can be comfortable with the idea. I think I was more surprised he was taken so aback by it. He has been very open up to this point, even leaving me his key to get into his place if I arrived before he did, starting on our 5-6th date. I just doubt my instincts at this point. I mean he seems like a good guy, but I've been wrong before. Take away ... relationships are hard! (But still better than being the cat lady ) -

What do you eat in the airport?
sillykitty replied to insta_adventurer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I spend more time in airports than I do at home some weeks, so I might be a resident expert here! At 5 months out, there will be tons of options available for you. It's harder on liquids and purees but not impossible. As mentioned, nuts, cheese crisps, protein bars are available in the news stand type shops. Also jerky, protein bars, protein packs with dried meat and dried cheese together. Lots of restaurants have a to go section with yogurt, fruit cups, hummus etc.. There are also premade salads readily available, and sandwiches you can just eat the meat out of. Even fast food, you can get a chicken sandwich and just eat the meat, or burger and just eat the patty. Sit down restaurants are just like any other restaurant, so always some kind of good choice on there. When I'm at DET, I often eat at Sora, the sushi restaurant. There is a Vino Volo, which has meat and cheese plates. PF Changs has good options. I usually get chicken lettuce wraps or the hot and sour soup. Vino Volo and PF Changs are in many airports, not just DET, so I eat at those pretty often. Finally as mentioned above Plum Market has good options, I've also eaten at Adiamo and been happy. -

On the road again, just can’t wait to get...
sillykitty replied to vic91218's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I travel for business. Not non stop like touring, but weekly. It's a lot harder than being at home. It's hard to make good choices, when you are faced with so many delicious, but poor choices. I'd suggest stocking up on healthy options and have them with you, protein shakes, protein bars, and as you progress, veggies, jerky, cheese. But really it is about mindset and making good choices vs. bad. The surgery reducers our stomach capacity, but doesn't afect our cravings, at least in my case. -

@GreenTealael ... so excited that you un-friend zoned, and got boo'd up! Now we just need to get @redhead_che a cardio partner, and then all of our regular participants will hopefully be getting their workouts in! So, my boo'd up situation has a couple of milestone coming up. First family meet will be this weekend. Not Thanksgiving, he has his own family commitments, but we're going to a hockey game with my cousin and his wife. And we have our first weekend getaway booked for January. So, yay! Topic for discussion .... may have hit a bump in the road .... What are your thoughts of when in a committed relationship, having each other's phone pass codes? Some personal background. I have been cheated on in multiple relationships. The last one really pushed me over the edge. He lived a for real double life, extreme cheating, and very potentially a sexual addiction. Since I'm busy, travel so much, and appreciate my freedom, I've never been one to validate my partner is where they say they are, doing what they say they are doing etc. But his whole double life was right there on his phone, and if I had simply seen that, it would have saved me a world of hurt and humiliation. So, that is why it is important in any future relationships that we have each other's pass codes. Not to check necessarily, but to know that I could. I know that someone determined to cheat, will still cheat, but it's just a tiny bit of peace of mind. So, I bring this up to new boo, as something I'll need in the future, if things continue to progress between us. He's a way above average communicator, and emotionally mature, so this type of convo wasn't weird. He was pretty taken aback at my request. He said it made him a little uncomfortable and he'd have to think on it. So that honestly worries me a little bit, even though he has never given me any signs I should doubt him. Rational me says trust until given reason not to, but I have been badly burned by doing that .... Love to hear opinions .... -

Hello everyone! So a lot less craziness in my life right now. I expect work to be significantly quieter until after the New Year. So that means more time for bs-ing here! I'm not doing much IF, other than what comes naturally not being much of a morning eater. I'm still experimenting with eating as I please, and seeing what happens to the scale. So far so good, so I'm hopeful for my future in the maintenance phase. But still cautious about still being in the honeymoon phase, and having a lot of restriction, which may not always be the case. But ... I've lost 101 lbs! -

Apparently my house is dimly lit, because I feel borderline ok naked when I look in my home mirror. But there is something about the lighting in hotel rooms, OMG ... the horror! -

Hello! A lot to catch up with on this thread! Just wanted to pop in and let you all know I'm still here! Work travel has been insane, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel right now. Only a couple of more trips between now and the end of the year. I'm still figuring out what happens to the scale if I just eat what I want. I seem to be able to maintain .... maybe, we'll see ... Hope y'all had a fantastic weekend! -

Man .. @FluffyChix ... you were headed to Shenanigan Land, but took a sharp left into Reasonable Splurge Land -
My late GSD LOVED being boarded. She'd actually be disappointed when I came to pick her up . She loved all the attention from the employees, the play time with other dogs, the potty walks. So don't assume this will be a negative experience for your pups, they might not want to come home!

Late to this thread ... but adding anyway ... I do a lot of travel and entertainment for work. So that is several nights a week usually that absolutely revolves around food and alcohol. It's my job, so I can't avoid it, or change the focus. Additionally, spending time with friends usually revolves around food and/or alcohol as well. Happy Hour, wine tasting get together, cocktails at X's house, etc. Maybe because I'm older, but it hasn't really been that hard. At first I was hyper focused on losing the weight so it was an easy decision to make to have water. When you're only eating 500 cals or less a day, then a 100 cals for a light beer is a lot, and not worth it. As I've gotten near goal, I have relaxed a bit. I'll have a glass or two of wine, or cocktail, or beer. But it is much more so in moderation. I'm mindful that drinking like I used to would add 1000's of cals a week to my diet, many 1000's some weeks. There is no way I'm going to sabotage all my hard work in that way. So it really comes down to the fact that losing and keeping the weight off is much more important to me than drinking alcohol in excess.

@GreenTealael ... you already have the solution!

How long do you need to prioritise protein?
sillykitty replied to Chevron's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes ... there are long term consequences to protein deficiencies http://time.com/4374959/protein-health-benefits-nutrition/ -
I take Whole Foods Prenatal, they don't bother my stomach, which nearly all other vitamins do. The downside is you have to take 3 per day. I also take Calcium Citrate, B complex, B12 sublingual, Biotin. L-Lysine, Propboitics. I was taking Zinc for a while, but it was hard on my stomach.

I've been doing some mild IF, just basically going to bed early, and then I've never been much of a morning eater. Other than that I haven't been very mindful about what I'm actually eating. Nothing gluttonous, but nothing virtuous either. I'm hoping maybe I've found where I can maintain? Maybe it won't be such a battle to do so? I'm afraid to say it too loud to jinx it -
