Sophomoreville - A Home For The the Tweeners

Oh, I like this topic of the day! I've spent a lot of time thinking about PS! I'm definitely going to do plastics. I knew when I decided to have WLS that just losing the weight wouldn't be enough for me, and I'd want to look the best that I can. I had actually intended to have surgery a few weeks ago. But work travel schedule interfered with that. I won't have another break until this time next year. I already gave my boss the heads up, and I have his support to stay off the road through the holiday season next year. I agree, I am actually less unhappy about the way I look then I expected. I'm pretty damn happy with the way I look in clothes. The only thing I can't wear, but want to, are sheath or body con dresses (You totally can, which is awesome!) And actually even without clothes, it's better than I expected. It helps I'm dating someone steadily now, who is super complimentary. So I don't have the anxiety of a lot of first time seeing me naked situations. Here are the procedures I want Tummy Tuck - I want a flat stomach for the first time in my life. The sag isn't as bad as I thought it would be, but I'll be happier when it's gone. It will also allow me to wear a broader range of clothes that don't have to disguise the tummy. I'm hoping I won't have to do muscle repair, since I've never had kids. But apparently we won't know until I'm opened up. Breast Augmentation and Lift - I'm most surprised and pleased with how my boobs have ended up. I've done from DD to a C. But they're retained a nice shape. I really miss the fullness of my old breasts though. I don't mind how they look, but I dislike how they feel, if that makes sense. My implants will definitely be gummy bear, tear drop shaped. I can't stand porn star breasts, so they have to be natural looking, or I'll hate them. Arm Lift - I wasn't expecting as much flabby skin on my arms as I have. I'll need an arm lift. But I really really want it to be a minimal incision left, not the extended kind. I'm pretty anxious the surgeons will tell me to get good results I'll need a longer incision. Thigh Lift - My thighs look like old man's balls, ugh! They are also worse than I had anticipated. This is the procedure I'm most afraid of, both pain wise, and risk of complications, poor results. It is a pretty tricky procedure with a long painful recovery. Again, like my arms I really only want an inner thigh lift, without the extended incisions down my thighs. I'm also anxious to hear opinions on what type of results can be achieved with only a crescent type lift. Lipo - To go along with the body procedures. I'd especially like the fat sucked out of my back and flanks, in addition to anywhere else the Dr is willing to Hoover. Neck Lift - This I did not anticipate at all. But in selfies now, my neck is so old a crepe-y looking. So it has been added to the list ... sigh The bad news is, with all those procedures, It will most likely be 2 for the body, and then one for the neck. And probably a different surgeon for the facial (neck) work, than the body procedures. I have no idea how I'm going to get that kind of time off from traveling What is everyone else thinking?

    Instant Pot and Slow Cooker

I'd throw a chicken breast in with broth. It cooks up moist and tender. Then I could make chicken salad, or mix shread and mix with buffalo sauce, or harrissa, or thai curry sauce, just to keeo it interesting. I also made a lot of the things I did pre WLS. Grain or bean based soups (ex Lentil or Beef and Barley), beef stew, Chilie Verde, etc.
  3. I get the same way when I'm doing tedious work. When I was in my hyper focused losing phase, I let myself eat, if head hunger was out of control. BUT I made sure it was all lean and low cal. Grilled meats, jerky, protein chips, cucumbers and carrots with low cal dressing, Laughing Cow cheese, SF Jello. So my head was happy I was eating, but I wasn't blowing it calorie wise.

    Post op vacation

Similar ... I started traveling for work at 3 weeks post op
  5. Oh no, you had the much wiser choice! And you would have just been the 2nd wheel, I was by myself. That's why there was pics. I can't let the not a boyfriend know about my level of crazy.

    Post-Op Vitamins?

Most vitamins make me nauseous as well. But my Dr.'s PA recomnded these, and they are fine, even on an empty stomach
  7. It's in a chipotle sauce. It is amazing, but not at all low cal!
  8. Since it was his office's error, not yours I would push for the same date. Surgeons usually have some wiggle room in their schedule for stuff like this.

I'm not sure ... I mean it's cured, so you got some time at least! Google also tells me that at least some Whole Foods carry it. I eat it like little tacos, meat on the outside, arugula and parm on the inside

Not really. I really have only liked diet soda and alcohol pre WLS. Never really drank juice, or anything else that wasn't diet soda or alcohol, or alcohol with mixer. Now days, I get my fluids as a mix of water (ugh!), diet soda, La Croix & protein shakes. The diet soda and La Croix are the most appealing, but nowhere near enough to drink 64 oz without a lot of focus and effort.

Super interesting! Isn't it funny everyone has heard 8 glasses of water a day thier whole life, and even Dr.'s repeat it. But with no real (current?) research to back it up.

Have you ever had bresaola? It's Italian cured beef. What prosciutto is to pork, bresaola is to beef. This is how it is typically served in Rome and Tuscany, with arugula and parmigiano or pecorino. So good, salty, bitter, savory, peppery, a little sweet!
  14. Well ... it's hard to show what I ate as it was a slow progression First I started out with this Then my meal came. (notice the bottle of beer has disappeared and like 30 chips are missing) And then this is the after, sorta. There is a half of a tortilla missing from the tortilla warmer, and I finished my michelada after I took the pic!
  15. I'm IF-ing ... that's what I'm calling skipping breakfast at least I was down to my ticker weight on Saturday. I forgot to weigh yesterday. I was up to 141 this morning. I'm fine with all that considering this happened yesterday

But it is such a reassuring safety net! I never doubted I would get to goal. But maintaining long term, that is more daunting!

I get that. My super restriction is gone, and now I think it is just a little more than your average sleeve restriction. And that scares me.

Like alcohol? Pre WLS, yes, definitely. But post WLS, I lost most of my taste for alcohol. I have left more half drunk beers behind because I just didn't want anymore.

I don't know ... I've googled the heck out of it, and have come up with nothing on the effects of non-acute dehydration. I have a good friend (an ex) who is a GI, and I have asked him about it. He repeats the 64 oz rule, but he admits he can't back up why, and admits he doesn't usually drink that much himself, except when he works out. And I'm the opposite, the more I drink, the harder time I have to continue drinking. If I hydrate well one day, the next day it is a struggle to repeat. We'll see ..... Hmm ... the skin aspect is interesting. But my skin is almost never dry, curious and curiousier Maybe I was born with a old person thirst mechanism? Maybe it's genetic, my mom is the same as I am, and has been her whole life? Making myself drink when I'm not thirsty is a struggle, hte more I drink, the less I want to take the next sip. Instead of becoming a habit, each day I fully hydrate, it is harder and harder for me to do so the next day. The thought of taking a sip is distasteful. I haven't spoken to my Dr. about it. I've spoken to his PA, she ok'd me drinking diet soda when I told her I struggled w fluid goals. She said it was better than nothing. But even with soda, I'm almost never getting 48 or 64. As I mentioned I've spoken to my GI friend, and he said it was important, but couldn't tell me why. He is generally very good at explaining the why's and how's. I'm definitely special But really, isn't most of the world getting sub 48 oz? Maybe the super hydraters are the special ones?
  23. Neither am I .... we will be in trouble when you move your a$$ out here
