Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability
sillykitty replied to FluffyChix's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Welcome! Sounds like a plan! I guess there are benefits from coming from a non breakfast eating family, no guilt trips! -
This is me. I do IF without trying really, and if I want to I can narrow the eating window down pretty easily. Like you I rarely am hungry in the morning. It is just a matter of pushing myself to eat as late as possible, sometimes 2-3 pm, and then shut down any eating late at night. Though if I'm truly hungry I will eat, even if it's late, but try not to if it's just cravings. I can't speak to the strictness, calories in coffee cream, etc. All the beverages I drink are calorie free (except alcohol and protein shakes), so I don't have that challenge. The theory behind IF is about keeping your body pulling energy from fat stores instead of from what you have ingested. So if you can eliminate or minimize calories during the fast then theoretically your results will be better.

Thanks for not mentioning my pasty white legs!

12 years post-op and I'm lost
sillykitty replied to Machinegirl's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Honestly, IF is the easiest "diet" I have ever been on. And the great thing is the more I follow it, the easier it gets. So much easier than carb restriction, etc., IME! -
Oh, and one more caveat for me, all those goals apply (except for logging) when I'm home. All bets are off when I'm traveling. Fluids, protein and vitamins are tough to all manage on the road, and I'm not super motivated to make that happen.

I'm in! SW: 243 CW: 137.8 GW: 135 11 months post op Small caveat, my current weight is last time I weighed myself on 12/27. I won't get back to a scale until 1/4, and I'll try to remember to weigh in. I'm at goal weight, so I don't necessarily want to lose more (unless I can choose where the weight comes from ). The 135 was my recent post WLS low weight. Goals Consume 50 g or more protein per day Take all my Vitamins Get in 64 oz fluid a day Start logging again I know, back to basics. I've gotten very complacent the last few months as I approached goal. But I know for my long term health I need to get more protein in and take my vitamins. On a practical note I have a sh*t ton of protein supplements, so I need to get through those. Pantry clean out challenge as well! The hydration thing, meh, I'm not a true believer , but I do know if I drink more, I eat less, so there is that. And I need to start logging again so I can find the balance between losing, gaining and maintaining. Here's my starting pic - 1/1/2019

Pharmacy issues with getting pain meds filled
sillykitty replied to Coexister's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree, change pharmacies -
I'm super vain, so I did a lot of research about how to prevent and reduce scarring. Only silicone tape or gel has been clinically proven to reduce scarring. If you do any research on plastic surgery, using silicone tape is almost universally recommended. It has a long history of being used on burn patients. I used silicone tape, from Amazon. It was cheap, I still have tons left since you only use like an inch at a time, to cover all your little scars. I tried the gel, but it requires 2 or more applications a day. I'm too lazy for that. The scar tape last 3-6 days on me, through showers and everything. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B002VE9AL8/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

10 months Post op: How much to eat?
sillykitty replied to YandereAngel's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
We are going to need more information. What was your starting weight, current weight, goal weight? What and how much are you currently eating, and compared to a few months ago Activity level now vs a few months ago This could be a normal slow down as you get near goal, or it could be backsliding and sabotaging your WL, but with the info you gave there is no way to tell. -
New year, new thread, thanks @sideeye! Woo hoo! Second night stands are always better than the first! As far as the boobs and skin, I think we are way harder on ourselves than anyone else is. IME, it seems to be all my issue, and not at all my partners. Also, hopefully most men, at least at a certain age, know we don't look like photshopped Instagram models, right?

Alex or anyone else on the BP team ... can you please look into what has happened to the user's account @Orchids&Dragons? She has tried to log in and gets the message she is banned. That makes no sense, as she is an extremely positive and helpful member.

This is nothing specific to our society. All societies revolve around food, and have since the beginning of time. Ever head the term "breaking bread" with someone. Showing some hospitality has always been to invite them into your home and share your food. Ever been to Vietnam? EVERYTHING revolves around food. You can't go 10 ft without running into a street vendor, or a restaurant. But no problem with obesity.

Saltines? Caught a stomach bug
sillykitty replied to Starry*Night's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
If all you're eating is a few Saltines and some Pedialyte, you are in ketosis. You have a large enough calories deficiency, so your body is using fat stores for energy, which is what ketosis is. -
Help for user Orchids&Dragons
sillykitty replied to sillykitty's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
Update from @Orchids&Dragons It appears to be an app issue. She can log in on a computer, but not on her phone. She would still like to have it fixed, obviously, since she is nearly always on the app vs. a computer -
Both!

Some random stuff My hair is growing back, that's the good news. The bad news is, it looks insane, all this hair sticking up all over my head! Also, I was oblivious to this, until I get to a hotel with good lighting in the bathroom. I wish life were more dimly lit! No more worries about crazy hair or pooling thigh skin! I maybe had my first dumping incident last night? Had dinner, nothing unusual for me, taco, cheese with chorizo, rice, beans, beer. Then was offered free Baileys. Who am I to turn down free!? Well, almost finished and started to feel nauseous. Then a few minutes later the cramps started. I've felt slightly nauseous before eating something sweet, but it usually passes in about 15 minutes. But this was me in a fetal position for 2 hrs until the cramping mostly stopped. No other symptoms, didn't puke, no runs, just a couple of hours of misery. I think I have had Bailey's post op. Not positive, but it is something I sometimes order if I'm on a plane and want something sweet. Whatever it was, I'm swearing off Baileys for now, even if it's free!

Good to know @FluffyChix. I have some of those in my pantry but have be hesitant to use them due to the off putting smell of other shirataki noodles I've had.

Favor to ask .... can the contributors here bump this thread? Apparently @Orchids&Dragons is getting a message she is banned when she tries to log in. As those of us who know her, that makes zero sense!

It’s crazy the vast differences in plans.
sillykitty replied to Chuck Clasik's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So many different plans, I agree. But the good news is, many people on here with vastly different plans have all found success! -
Agree with this. Pretty soon eating small amounts will become your new normal, it won't feel nearly as awkward. And once you start losing and feeling and looking great, this will all seem unimportant!

Ask your surgeon's office. Not all surgeons ban NSAIDs forever
