  1. I also had no pre op diet, my surgeon also doesn't believe they are necessary. I can see no negative effects of not having had a pre op diet. I have lost 100% of my excess weight. I'm successfully in maintenance, so far. My liver was perfect and pink, so I was told. I had no physical hunger for weeks post op. I was able to have food funerals, which I believe help me be more focused on healthy eating post WLS.

Ohhh ... so bad! Miss @Orchids&Dragons aka the rule follower, must be so disappointed in you!

    "You're too skinny!"

Most people mean well, so I just laugh it off. I generally say something like "I wish!" or "Not there yet!". I turn it into something light instead of getting my dander up.
  4. Actually the boreens were easy! Those were generally pretty lightly traveled. They weren't as wind-y, so you could see someone coming from the opposite direction, since speeds were slow there was plenty of time to find a spot to pull over slightly so you could squeeze by each other. Where my hives started was traveling along the southern coast, say from Waterford to Kenmare. We were on busy 2 lane roads that each lane was just barely wide enough for a small car, and with the hedge covered stone walls and ditches on the side. Makes me itchy just thinking about it Oh, and I plan to eat EVERYTHING in Egypt!

is this a stinky gas cure/help?

I'm a big fan of Beano
  6. I'm generally unflappable. In all my travels there has only been two times I've been seriously frazzled. Once in Vietnam when we were stranded on the wrong side of town from our hotel at night due to flooding, and then the power went out in the entire town. The other time was as a car passenger in Ireland. Adventure TB was the driver, and she thought it was going swimmingly, while I was so tense I was getting a core workout while sitting in the passenger seat. Why are there stone walls on the sides of the road? Why are they disguised by friendly looking bushes? Why are the lanes just barely wide enough for a car, when tractors, which are wider, drive on them? Why are there so many twist that every single corner is blind and there is no safe place to pass said tractor? And then there are the sheep, and the bicyclist, and old people walking, all in the road, inevitably around a blind corner. I actually broke out in hives from the stress . It took us a few days to figure out what I was allergic to. I'd be fine in the morning, then broken out by evening. Apparently I was allergic to Irish driving! I'm actually going to Egypt this trip.
  7. Stalls are the norm and they happen to nearly everyone. So although you do need to be getting protein in, it is more than likely unrelated to your stall.

  11. You need a travel buddy! I've never been with anyone who likes to travel like I do. Some of my ex's I would have murdered if we had been on a long trip together, or at least stranded them in a foreign country. Now when I date someone and they're like "Oh, I want to do some traveling, we can do it together" I'm like "Sorry my dance card is full until I get more vacation time AND you prove that you won't annoy the f out of me!"

#21 - My Biggest Support I'd have to say the friends I've made here on BP have been my biggest support. We all started in different places, we have all taken different paths. But we are helping each other figure out how to navigate a whole new world that comes after the thrill of post WLS rapid weight loss. Trying to find what works to cross the finish line of goal weight and how to stay on the other side of that line, long term.

Ok ... this is somewhat disturbing .... We even have similar taste in jewelry only you appear to favor gold, while I favor silver (well I prefer platinum, but without a sugar daddy I settle for silver). This is the dead link https://www.etsy.com/listing/72242988/herkimer-diamond-earrings-silver-post?ref=shop_home_active_8&frs=1 .... not the same ... 😅 Oh, and rings you say, just had this one custom made in all peridot. Getting resized currently even though it fit last month. Latest weight loss from a$$, t!ts and fingers apparently. https://www.etsy.com/listing/68745158/three-stone-white-topaz-ring-past?ref=shop_home_active_22&frs=1 Great, I didn't know I need a bull & red velvet cake painting in my life, but I do now ... https://www.ugallery.com/art/watercolor-painting-Ole I would love to visit a Californian beach house, but I'm slightly worried I'd arrive and find it vacant, or with an older Chinese man living in it, because we are actually from similar-but-parallel universes and can only interact through writing. Like Griffin and Sabine. But there is only one way to find out ......

    Drinking alcohol again????

Yeah, that's not true. It is processed through our stomach and intestines, not straight to the blood stream. IME, alcohol does now affect me more, but I attribute it to being nearly half my previous weight, and not being able to pad my stomach with food before/while I drink. I drank very rarely during most of my weight loss phase. I was working hard to get to goal, and didn't want to add additional empty calories.
  19. Yes! Agree with all this!

    Super dry skin

Same here. I went through a couple month phase about 3 months post op where my skin became super dry. I used coconut oil every night before bed. Good news is it passed, and now my skin is back to normal. I only moisturize my legs occasionally as needed.

Found this recently, I'm biased, and really hope there is some fact behind it! http://www.bbc.com/future/story/20190116-a-high-carb-diet-may-explain-why-okinawans-live-so-long One thing the January Challenge has taught me is I will practically never get to 60g of protein a day. Even getting to 50 will require some kind of supplementation, like a protein shake. I REALLY don't want to drink a protein shake every day of my life.

I agree with everyone else, it sounds like diet fatigue to me, or a general case of the MEH's I become obsessive and absorbed in stuff, and that takes my mind off food. You have a new place ... have you worked on decorating it? I've spent hours building couches in so may fun colors https://joybird.com/ I'm torn between lemon yellow leather and deep turquoise tweed, you know if I had a bigger house with room for another couch Do you like art? I LOVE Artfinder https://www.artfinder.com/#/ I've bought quite a few pieces, but I have 4 from this artist alone https://www.artfinder.com/product/partytime-too/#/ I also had several pieces commissioned from Etsy. It's amazing how affordable original art can be. (Let's not talk about framing though!) Window coverings? I found my fabric on https://www.fabric.com/ and had drapery made for my bedroom and roman blinds for my kitchen made by a local woman I found on Etsy. If you're not feeling the home stuff, and speaking of Etsy, I've bought a lot of my jewelry on there. No need to worry about sizes. These are probably my favorite piece I bought recently https://www.etsy.com/transaction/1532817775 For a weekend getaway, I happen to know someone who lives in a beach city, in Cali with a spare bedroom. Whatcha doing SB weekend?
