IDK, but I remember being in Italy more years ago then I want to admit and watching a little old couple devour a kilo Porterhouse steak and antipasti, and veggie sides and dessert 😳

    Food Before and After Photos

You know, from my travels I don't find US portion sizes to be overly large comparatively. I felt the servings were generally large in Germany (although I've only been in Bavaria, and then into Austria). I'm currently in France. In traditional restaurants the portions maybe smaller, but 3 courses is the norm. In casual restaurants, single course meals, like salads, burgers, etc. the portions are the same IMO. I could do a photo dump, but I'd bore everyone, lol

  8. I'm starting my plastics journey this week! Creating this thread as a place to gather my thoughts, and gather opinions as well. My priorities 1&2 - Tummy & Boobs 3 - Thighs 4&5 - Butt & Arms Specifics for each area Tummy - low & thin scar, natural looking belly button, and lipo/conturing to narrow my waist as much as possible Boobs - augmentation & lift, VERY important that my boobs look natural, thinking D cup with tear drop gummy bear implants Thighs - do not want a full thigh lift with long scars, so only a crescent lift, or as part of a lower body lift Butt - either a fat transfer (BBL) or buttock lift with a dermal fat flap as part of a lower body lift Arms - do not want a full arm lift with long scars, so only a crescent lift I reached out for consultations with 5 surgeons who specialize, or do a fair amount of surgeries on massive weight loss patients. I have #1 & #2 choices, and have consultations scheduled with both on Friday 😁 Interestingly neither of my top choices charge a consultation fee, but the three others do. I am seriously considering canceling my other consultations to see #1 & 2 first, before I invest up to $750 on consultation fees. Anyone have opinions if I should just see #1 & #2 first, or is it worth the investment in consultation fees to have more surgeons quotes? My #1 surgeon does lots of lower body lifts. I hadn't originally considered this because I'd rather not have the circumferential scar. But his results are amazing, and at least in the posted photos the scars are very thin. It may also be the only way I can get most of my wish list accomplished in one surgery. I have seen where he has done a lower body lift & a breast lift & augmentation in one surgery. That would only leave arms to tackle at some point later, if I still wanted them fixed. Here's an example of the work of my #1 surgeon

    Regained it all

Look into Mounjaro. It is a diabetes med that is showing early success with weight loss. It's currently in fast track FDA trial to be approved as a weight loss drug. Patients using it report appetite suppression, decrease in food thoughts and slowed gastric emptying. I think it has the potential to be revolutionary.

SoCal has by far the best produce prices in the country. It's a combo of being close to growing areas and ports for importation, and the large number of ethnic markets which affordable produce is key for their consumers.

You're going to be really mad that I was wrong and the jalapenos were $0.50/lb 😂 SoCal is lucky to have the most competitive grocers in the country. But if you have an Aldi in your area, they're always the lowest priced in any market. Prices vary regionally for meat/produce/eggs/milk, but everything else is the same price nationally. But yeah, the cost gap between home made food and fast food is much greater when it's a family to feed and not just one person with bariatric portions. In my example it's a $.30 gap between my pulled pork meal and a Taco Bell taco. But it would be multiple times that for a family with normal size stomachs. I just did the spreadsheet and was annoyed that I saved so little for inveting so much time. 😂 So today I decided to save my labor and get a sandwich 😋

Has anyone else tried these low carb buns from Aldi? They were indistinguishable to me from regular (cheap) buns. Had a meal of pulled pork sandwich, potato salad, coleslaw and cucumber salad And inspired by @Starwarsandcupcakes, I calculated what this meal cost Taking a soap box tangent here, but I think this is a good example of why fast food is so popular. This same volume of food to fill me up, I could have had a Taco Bell taco, for approximately the same cost. But for the homemade meal, I had to actively shop for deals, and spending the time planning & cooking. It is often so much more economical for people are pressed for both time and money to go through a drive though or pick up a pizza.
  13. My surgeon is based in Medellin. He is board certified in Colombia, did a fellowship in the US, and active in various plastic surgery boards and committees as well as teaching. But his cost was a fraction of what your quote is. I honestly feel like $20-25K is egregiously overpriced and total gouging because you are American. As far as aftercare, I stayed in a very nice 2 bedroom, 2 bath Airbnb for $40/nt and could have hired a nurse for $40 per 8 hr. So the two weeks stay with nursing is not worth more than $2K. I have followed and researched Colombian surgeons for a few years now, so feel free to pm me if you want to discuss further
  14. I had a fantastic experience having surgery in Colombia. But $20-$25K is very very overpriced, even including aftercare. I suggest continuing to look at Colombian surgeons, but not use one who will grossly overcharge you.

I was craving Mexican last night as well. But I love ❤️ street food versions above all others No pics of my lengua & al pastor tacos. Cause I scarfed them up standing on the side walk. Street tacos are perfect bariatric portions 😂 But I heated up my bf’s leftover suadero quesadilla in a skillet for breakfast this morning

Yes, more commonly called shirataki noodles. I know that @ms.sss is a fan. Just be aware, they have a strong odor and need to be thoroughly rinsed.

Eating carbs (pasta, rice, or bread )

I think we all have to know our weaknesses. Carbs aren’t a slippery slope for me, but feeling deprived is. I’m over 4 years out and currently eat whatever I want, just in smaller portions than per op. From the beginning I included carbs, but a smaller % than now, in order to focus in protein and limit calories.

Oh, I have! I'd say roasted goat is a little gamier than roasted lamb. But gamey isn't a bad thing IMO. Birria is all the rage here is SoCal. It's crossed over into mainstream. BUT in doing so, it is now usually beef instead of usually goat. 😥 Buffalo is very good, lean, flavorful meat when it's ground, I agree, very tough most other ways. I've never had kangaroo. Is it farmed or wild? What does it taste like? I also didn't know squab = pigeon. I have had pigeon, it tasted just like a milder version of quail to me, close to turkey I'd say. I had it in Egypt, where it was deliciously stuffed with grains. One of my favorite restaurants in one of my favorite food cities is Lonesome Dove in Austin, which is focused on game meats. Sooo good!

    Food Before and After Photos

Hi! 😀 Long time no see everyone! I don't post much, but I had to chime in and agree with this. I'm up 20 lbs from my lowest weight. At first I was scared. I mean, we've all lost weight, just to gain it all back again, right? But then, as @ms.sss said, I realized that I'm in control of this. I could IF, count my calories, and drop weight, it was totally within my power. Then I had a second realization. Not all weight gain is bad! I objectively look better at the top of a healthy BMI, at the bottom of an overweight BMI. My face looks my youthful. My arms and inner thighs lost most of their crepey-ness. My breast are bigger. I have thicker thighs and hips, and a juicier butt. Long story short, I'm glad I didn't panic at my weight gain. I loved seeing that low 120's number on the scale. But I'm glad I got over that, because it's more important what I see in the mirror.
