Down 32 lb since surgery on 8/21, 45 since pre-op diet began. Looked online today to get some perspective. I just came out of a FOUR WEEK stall. Thought I'd lose my mind and also thought the weight loss might be done and that surgery failed? The last couple of days it is literally dropping off again. I've been good with my diet and really good with exercise (5x per week - spinning classes and running and noticeably stronger after 11 solid weeks of exercise). I hope things keep moving as it is hard to stay motivated when the scale does not move. I had hoped that by Christmas I'd be about 15 pounds lower than I am now.....probably won't occur. However, I do feel amazing and have so much more energy these days.

Hello, I had surgery on 8/21. I lost 10 pounds in the first eight days after surgery -- and nothing since. I've heard about a typical "stall" at week 3, but nothing this early. I transitioned to pureed food yesterday (at 2 weeks, 2 days -- because my surgeon was out of town for the holiday and I needed to wait for him to return). I have followed the diet without cheating. I have started exercising in the last week (just walking). I don't particularly feel hungry and I'm typically at 500 calories or less per day. I should add that I lost 13 pounds in the two weeks that I did the pre-op diet. All in all, 23 pounds down still feels fabulous. I guess I'm just surprised that I can eat 500 calories a day, drink all my water, and for over a week now nothing is happening. I've stopped weighing myself every day as it was driving me crazy. I previously had a Lapland (removed 2 years ago). Even with the band I lost faster than this early on. My starting weight was 259, weight at surgery was 246, weight now is 236. I'm 5'5" -- BMI just dropped below 40 with the weight loss I've seen thus far

What's your go to exercise DVD/Program
katie608 replied to photogirl70's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is that an apple app? Because I don't find it available for android users Yes, I use it on my iPhone and am able to then project it from my phone to the tv in the room. I can also use the app while traveling for work and staying at hotels. -
Awaiting answers on this. At this point, since I still have some stitches bothering me when I move around I know it is too early (almost 3 weeks out). I'm ready to get back to Pilates.

What's your go to exercise DVD/Program

Peloton digital app......they have good running and walking content these days that you can use outside or on the treadmill. You don't need their equipment to use the app. -
Lisa, I just saw this message. I don't look at many Lapland posts anymore since my band was removed (after 11 years) almost 2 years ago now. My band was removed because of a port infection. My family doctor and I spent months trying to figure out why I was having so much pain in the area of my port when my bariatric doctor indicated nothing was wrong with it. We were looking at every other part of my body and could not resolve this. No one actually suspected the port itself for all those months since there had been no obvious source of infection in recent months. Ultimately my port started to even loosen up and flip under my skin. Even the bariatric doctor I visited was not alarmed. Finally the pain became really strong -- definitely at my port location. The last sign was that I developed a small abcess above the port (it looked like a tiny pimple to start with). I finally gave up on my bariatric doctor and visited a major hospital in my area and saw another doctor. He very quickly diagnosed this as an infected port. The entire band and port were removed within the next 24 hours. The infection had not reached my stomach or the band itself, fortunately. However, this entire situation went on for almost a year before someone told me my port was infected. I just want to highlight this as I figured if I had an infection it would be obvious. Even the doctor I was seeing for this and my family doctor never suspected this could be the case. I figured since I was so far out from the original surgery that something like this really could not occur......I was wrong. Best of luck and I hope your port is fine. If you still have pain (it's been some time since you posted this), I would really encourage you to push your doctors to find an answer.

Extreme Pain in the Roof of your Mouth with first meal
katie608 replied to Justin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
OMG!! I am no longer banded (port infection required it to be removed). I'm online trying to learn more about the sleeve surgery and was looking for Lapland to sleeve experiences when I came across this. I had this "cramping" in the roof of my mouth while banded (and not for the last two years since band has been off). I never could find answers about this condition. This is the first time I've heard anyone else describe it. It was the most bizarre feeling -- and really uncomfortable. A vitamin deficiency is an interesting theory. -
Hope you figure out the "tricks" to open it up more. I was running marathons when I had my band and found too much exercise was "too stressful" on my body and it actually tightened. More moderate exercise was just right. It was a bit absurd all the "rules" my band had -- but eventually I learned to live with it. I know what you mean about it being wide open in the evenings -- it was the same thing for me. Good luck.

I had the Lapland for 11 years (removed b/c of infection about a year or so ago).....I continually had this issue and would find that if I was stressed out this was even more pronounced. If I would get some exercise and find a way to de-stress, then I'd be more open. Also, you absolutely need to be hydrated. Sorry you are experiencing this as well -- I never could get a straight answer as to why this occurred (I definitely was not too tight).....but it was an ordeal the entire time I had my band.
