  1. Thanks to all of you on this list, especially to Lap Dancer who emailed me personally; I finally did it. I was banded Tuesday, May 20, and am doing very well as far as I can tell. Dr K did my surgery in Parker CO No more pain meds for me; hate that stuff. Yesterday morning was the last of that; can't stand being wobbly on my feet and halfway hallucinating ! I still can't believe I'm actually on the raod to WL permanently ! Wahoo ! I've been hungry today and yesterday; Natalie in Dr K's ofc said to go to the next level for eating. I've had no problems keeping anything down, haven't felt full but just stop when I've had 8 oz of something. I think I've been one of the lucky ones . . . no problems of any kind. The day in the hospital was an okay day, too. Hopefully, I can reduce a few meds in six months or so. Keep it up you LOSERS ! C J in Parker CO When is the next RR getogether? I'd like to join all of you
  2. Hi all, My Banding day is next Tuesday. I'm excited and a tiny bit scared. I'm hoping I'll recup fast so I can get back to the things I enjoy doing. I'm down 15 lbs from my highest weight of a few months back. I'm on pre-op now and am ALWAYs hungry. Have to really work hard to not eat stuff that I shouldn't have. Hasn't been difficult to give up BPPR, tho (bread, potatoes, Pasta and rice) Kudos to all of you; it's inspiring to see those numbers going D O W N from all of you. Thanks C J in Colorado
  3. Is there a list for people who are several years out for banding? I'd like to know the success rate for keeping the pounds from coming back (we've all had THAT experience I'm certain!) My first appt ... the consult ... is one week from Monday. CAN't believe I'm SO close. C J

    Menu for the pre-op diet?

THanks for the reply. I made my appt with a surgeon for the consult re: lapband surgery. One week from MOnday I will see the Dr. CANNOT believe I may be CLOSE. sugar free stuff with aspartame doesn't do well for me; must settle in my joints or something. I get so sore/stiff I'm slow gettin' around. Did my own experiment a year ago and cut out all aspartame; Couldn't believe how I improved and how much better I felt. Anyone else with that experience?

    Menu for the pre-op diet?

Being a pre-diabetic with blood sugar problems, I'm wondering how things like Carnation Instant Breakfast (lotsa sugar) and some of the other drinks will set with me prior to surgery. After trying a SlimFast diet years ago I felt absolutely terrible after four days of Slim Fast. What can one do to suplement with protein? C J

A place for bandsters in their 60's

Hello all, I'm new to the list but not new to thinking about the banding. I was ready to proceed last summer and our insurance changed . . . no coverage AT ALL for bariatric so I was quite frustrated and extremely disappointed for several months. I'm proceeding now and don't want to wait two more years for Medicare to help. Just gonna do it. Am waiting for a cardiac clearance and will then meet with the surgeon to get the surgery scheduled. Your posts are encouraging - - - thank you ! C J in Colorado
  7. To Lap Dancer from Sewpfun I just rec'd a msg from you but unfortunately hit an incorrect button; I don't know how to recover your msg. Would you email me again? I was asking about Dr. K in Aurora CO. Thanks CJ
