That is SO EXCITING!!! Congrats!! What were your training plans/training routines? Running/jogging and completing races is one of my major goals for post-surgery. I'm three months out now and trying to get myself back into the gym but having some trouble building a routine. I also have a treadmill at home so that should mean NO EXCUSES but since I haven't really formulated a plan yet it's easy for me to just skate by! I'd love to sign up for a race to be looking forward to and training for...any advice you have on plans that you followed would be much appreciated! CONGRATS AGAIN! 36 minutes is AMAZING!!

I tried searching but did not see anything on here for this question - I sincerely apologize if I'm repeating!! I have an incision that's just about ON my bra line. As a result, I have not yet worn a bra post-surgery...but I'm only on day 6 and have managed to stay at home/backyard where no one would see my girls bouncing around freely. As much as I'd love to be someone who's comfortable just letting them "fly free" in public, I know that it'd make me feel really self-conscious and would make it hard for me to go out anywhere. So, my questions are - How long did you wait post-surgery to wear a bra? Any suggestions on finding a bra that will not hurt incisions too much? Any luck finding camisoles with built-in bra for D/DD? Thanks in advance!!

Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: POST-OP Discussion
AEdoesRnY replied to Ylime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Went on a hike and had a few pics of me taken, first pics in a while! Pics are of me from a hike in June/July vs this weekend, coming up on 50 lbs down since start of two week preop! -
Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: POST-OP Discussion
AEdoesRnY replied to Ylime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I gained this week! Trying not to be too bummed/worried about it because otherwise despite what seemed like plateaus at the time I’ve actually been losing steadily if I look at it weekly. I still weigh myself most mornings but I only “count” the weigh ins on Monday mornings, which helps me not obsess as much... I’m about 10 weeks out if I’m counting correctly, breakfasts and lunches are going well but my dinners have been all over the place and not great, so that and getting to the gym will be my focuses this week! -

Does anyone have those charts for expected/average weight loss by starting weight? With different time milestones and weight loss expected (bypass)? I’ve seen others post them and keep meaning to save it but forgot...would love to have as a reference now that I’m a couple months out! -
Congratulations!!!!!!

I'm just here to whine/vent...my hair is already thinning out CONSIDERABLY and I'm only 8 weeks out. I'm getting all my protein and taking all my multis/calcium/etc. per the instruction of my NUT/Surgery team. I know many people go through it and hopefully it'll be temporary BUT it's still bothering me and stressing me out! If it's already starting now, what's it going to be when I hit month 3-4 when it usually starts being an issue for people??!?! Trying to be optimistic but just having lots of anxiety about it, oh well! I'm going to add Biotin to my routine, not because it can prevent any hair loss but because it'll make me feel like I'm at least doing SOMETHING about it. BLERRGGGG. Rant/whine/vent over!

AEdoesRnY replied to Matt Z's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
Not in your notifications, but on phone if you click on the hearts/reactions it’ll show you who reacted. On the computer I thought it just said who reacted at the bottom of the post, but I’m not sure! -
Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: POST-OP Discussion
AEdoesRnY replied to Ylime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Looking for protein powder recommendations! My NUT is on board with me using a protein shake either as breakfast or mid-morning snack, and the premier protein pre-packaged shakes are getting to be a pretty expensive habit. SO I want to switch to powdered to shake up in my blender bottle with water or milk in the mornings...Anyone have favorite protein powders to recommend? I tried a few from BP website and found them gross-tasting and/or grainy, etc., so I'd love to hear from you what you've tried and liked! In the past I've done the ON "gold standard" brand which was fine, but I'd love to hear from you and maybe branch out! -
Which phone apps do you use to remind you to take your vitamins??
AEdoesRnY replied to cdriver422's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here's a screenshot of my "tally" app. The free version I think you can set up to 3-4 items to track, and then for like $0.99 you can unlock unlimited. You set the goals/reminder notifications/colors/order/etc, and it tracks your stats for you of when you remembered & didn't. I started using this months pre-op and have been using it since! -

AEdoesRnY replied to cdriver422's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use and LOVE "tally" to keep track of my water, protein, and vitamins! They have an app for the apple watch too which makes it super easy to track! -
Aww, thanks! I’m a worrier by nature and definitely above what my dietician said I’d be “able” to eat, but generally I’m feeling really positive! 38 lbs includes my two week preop, but I’m still thrilled with 38 lbs in two months!

Thank you all for boosting my confidence!!! I’m going to go for it!! -
Hi everyone! I'm late to the Minnesota party but I'm here! I live in Minneapolis and had my bypass surgery with Dr. Laura July at Mercy in Coon Rapids about 7 weeks ago. I have really liked her a lot throughout the process!

This is a major one!!! I feel like in the past taking pictures I haven't hated always required several shots at very purposeful angles with me trying very hard to sit/stand/breathe in the right places...and even after all that I often just hated them. What a great feeling to like a "real" and candid shot of yourself!!

Haha I hadn’t even thought of that!!

Popcorn safe to eat?
AEdoesRnY replied to Estrellita's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’ve found that popcorn is a MAJOR slider food for me, so I have to be very very careful with it. I can eat a ridiculous amount of it before I feel any restriction if I end up feeling any at all. -
I posted this on the summer post-op thread too so I’m sorry for double posting, but what do you all think about this dress for work tomorrow? Yea or wait 5-10+ pounds or just nay in general? Trying to decide/work up courage...

My NSVs from today: Went to old navy wearing my now very very loose size 22 jeans. Tried on a bunch of size 18s and the size 16s which were only a SMIDGE too small for right now! And I got an XL sweater! I also bought a pair of “pixie” chinos in a dark pink/maroon color - way out of my black pants and black sweater ‘uniform’ of the last several years/multiple decades! I also might be wearing a new/not my usual thing dress tomorrow if I work up the courage :)
-
Love this look!!! I’ve been excited about finally wearing/trying out all sorts of things I’ve always wanted to wear but never felt confident enough about wearing...generally I try to blend into the background with black/neutral clothes!!

Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: POST-OP Discussion
AEdoesRnY replied to Ylime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m trying to get up the courage to wear this dress to work tomorrow. It’s definitely not my usual style bc usually I hide in basics, but I bought this from Amazon for like $19 and I really like it but feel self-conscious and unsure... Edited to add a pic from 1 week post op for comparison...though the clothing and stance is really not apples to apples! Yea or nay? -

Can’t tell what the app is, I’m curious now! -
I tried the quest pizza (at target) and it’s really good!

One thing that did help with the eating/fullness thing is being much more strict about my water - something my dietician recommended at my last appointment. I have been much more careful about not drinking at all for at least 20 minutes before I eat and at least 30 minutes after I eat. That's helped me feel more full!
