    Keto Rash

I googled Keto rash and it looks like what I have & it seems like it tends to show up where mine has shown up. I do hydrocortisone cream and even went to the doctor to have it looked like. Basically they said to keep doing hydrocortisone and follow up with them later...
  2. I didn’t have to do any shots, just had to walk/move for at least five minutes every hour...

    Non Scale Victories

When I was a freshman in college this happened to me (in front of my only cousin on my Mom’s side who I’d met only once before plus other family and lots of strangers). I was turned away at the entry gate to the ride after not wanting to try fitting in the example seats they had up at the front. I was frustrated and embarrassed and have held the experience with me for over a decade. I used to love roller coasters and rides but have not been on a single ride since. I can’t wait until I’m small enough to feel okay going again!
  4. This is the buffalo mashed cauliflower recipe I posted earlier. We made it from scratch but you can also use frozen mashed cauliflower. It was SO delicious and easy to do!!
  5. I’m still on puréed so I might do the mashed option, thank you for the suggestion!!!
  6. Just found this, looks delicious! https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/256205/buffalo-mashed-cauliflower/
  7. Okay, I’m SUPER craving buffalo something. How gross would adding Franks buffalo to cottage cheese be? I have some ranch seasoning, would taste okay to add a little of that plus a bunch of Frank’s buffalo hot sauce to cottage cheese? Can’t decide!
  8. Yes! I have definitely had an issue with this. Right now I’m sticking with mouthwash and occasional gum as well as brushing my teeth more frequently...I’m curious why this is a thing!
  9. I should have known, I was congratulating myself on no sugar/carbs, but clearly that as not enough! I’m definitely not planning on doing it again soon! To add insult to injury even though I threw it up I was up 1.8 lbs today. I know it’s unrelated but it still was an extra effective nudge away from cheating!

    Dry mouth

Dry mouth is a thing that exists separate from hydration. It’s something multiple dentists over the years have told me I have an issue with, as it’s something that can lead to more cavities and things like that. So yes, staying hydrated is super important, but very possibly not the issue at hand. There’s an ACT mouthwash specifically for dry mouth that my dentist recommended for me, it helped a bit!

    Actual time off work

I think with teaching part of it would depend on what age level and subject you teach. I had my surgery 7/30, so it worked out that I had just finished teaching summer school and had four weeks before we report back. The first two weeks were really nice to have, the second couple have been nice vacation-wise but made it easy to spend all day obsessing about my weight. If you teach something more active like PE or you teach younger kids who might not be good about being gentle and/or who need more active teacher, I’d say it’d be good to be closer to three weeks. Otherwise I think two weeks off would have been fine, just plan on being really exhausted the first week or so back...
  12. I made ricotta bake and fat free refried Beans with thin salsa and low fat cheese melted on top! Yum! I also made thicker Protein Drink by adding banana, PB2, and ice in blender with my premier.
  13. My plan has me drinking a protein shake still between meals (I'm on pureed). I've been doing a premier protein+1/2 banana+PB2+ice in the nutribullet for breakfast. I drink it over the course of a few hours. Then depending on what else I'm having over the course of the day I will sometimes do a second premier spread out throughout the day to make sure I'm getting to 60g. It's definitely way more stressful/challenging to track and figure out when it's not as simple as "yep, had my two shakes today"!

    Got my date!

Congrats on getting your date! For me it was a combination of so much excitement and a lot of nerves when the theoretical finally became practical by getting a date. Just keep reminding yourself why you're doing this, what you want to do/try and how you want to feel 3/6/12 months after surgery - I found that to be a very useful practice when I got stressed!

    Hospital Packing

I brought too much, but I'm an over-packer in general! I was only there for one overnight. I purposefully wore a long, loose maxi-dress with loose/comfy undershorts to the hospital on the morning of surgery because I knew it'd be comfortable to go home in as well. Here's what I actually used, as far as I can remember: - Phone charger&Phone - Headphones (audiobooks & podcasts were great choice for me) - Make-up remover wipes/face wipes - Change of underwear!! - Deoderant
  16. So happy for you! It’s nice when a stall turns into two successful days! I’m also scale obsessed but trying not to be, trying to also focus on the other things like clothes, body fat, pictures, but it’s hard. I have my workshop/training week next week and then the school year starts again - both as a teacher and nighttime graduate school - so I’m hoping my obsession will die down a little once I have more going on/more to think about!
  17. Curious if other teachers have advice on what worked for them, anything they’ve learned or tried that has made a difference. Specific things to have on hand or things to think about?
  18. Omg hours later I still feel nauseous and disgusting...ughhhh. In some ways I’m glad I did it because I don’t think I will be cheating again anytime soon. Then again oowwwww/blerggggg
  19. Also: I’m 3.5 weeks out from surgery and succumbed to temptation of an organic, nitrate free, no carb, etc, small packet of three very small smoked sausages. I’m still supposed to be on puréed and now I very much know why. I ate two of them, chewing for a long time etc. I got home and was so queasy and it was painful and I had to throw them up immediately. Oh and even after throwing them up I still feel nauseated and gross.  Back to the straight and narrow for me, I think...😳😳😳
  20. Are you going to Dublin??? My hubby and I are going over Christmas!!!
  21. Yours sounds similar to mine except for the length of puréed! I was Clear Liquids for a week, liquids for two weeks (basically clear liquids plus milk and strained soup), now I’m on puréed foods for a few weeks before they let me graduate to solids one day - sometime in month two.  What you quoted from me was directed at one person in particular who was upset with rate of weight loss immediately post-op, but it’s been interesting to hear others’ post op plans in general!
  22. Speaking as a TOTAL newbie (only a few weeks postop): My goal isn’t to never ever have foods I love again. My goal IS however to never have them for giving into a craving, or for self-soothing and emotional eating, and to only ever have them in a mindful, planned, well-thought out way that works in my program. I think the motivation and planning is really important! I’m curious if those further out think I’m deluding myself/if this distinction is bogus!

    8 days post op

Btw I no longer have the itchiness around my incisions, that probably got better around the 2 week point, maybe 2.5.

    8 days post op

The itching of the skin around my incisions was THE WORST. For #5 my doctor told me that as the swelling goes down/as things heal, the opening into the stomach gets bigger. So immediately after surgery it’s teeny and won’t let anything bigger than like a pea or grape through, but eventually the opening is like maybe ping pong ball size in diameter...
