Hi there debbie, as you would have already read i had my op at derby on the 27th dec just over 3 weeks ago now! I cant speak highly enough of the team there, they are excellent, all the nurses and staff were so kind and helpful! the op its self went relly well as i too stuck to the pre op diet even on xmas day!!! this reulted in me being at my lowest wieght and making me under the bmi that requires a band.. this worried me but my dr was so pleased with me and comended my commitment which was really nice. The day after sugery i was let home but to be honest i would have liked to stay another night as i wa rather sore.. much more than expected. This goes away within a week and the wieght dropping off makes you forget about the pain!! if your on ward 311 i may see you as my nan i going to be there also on that date!! well thats good to know!! getting out of bed is difficulit and breathing deeply really hurts!!!! any advice on what to eat whilst on this 4 week liquid diet??? im already sick of soup and its only week 1!!! Im vegi so food is limited....ca u have jelly? could you eat a lot before your fill? and when did you have your 1st fill?? does it hurt?? thank for your help it really is great to chat to someone who has had a lot of success xx

Hi there everybody really happy at mo a ive jut been sent home after having my lap band fitted at derby city hopital!!! thanks to everybody for your advie and help ive already dropped from 19stone to 16!!!!! op hurt more than i expected but the hopital staff were excellent!! happy new year to all!!!

Thanks for all your replys they are really helpful and reassuring. Im so excited now and rush home to see if i have mail even though its only been 2 weeks since referal!!! Can i just ask the lady who had the op in Dec did you go for your consult in sprig time in the same year too or was the waiting list alot longer? I will keep all posted keep your fingers crosssed for me x

Thanks for your reply, ive never had a blood test!! What type of tests will they do? Im currently bmi of 40.2 but have no side effects from being over weight ie heart probs as i am 24. The gp has been trying to help me loose weight since i was 14 with pills and referals to diet clinics and fitness classes. I am so desprite for this op and have considered going private but at £7,000 and and recent graduate from uni this is an impossable price to pay. What do you think my chances are for Mr leeder to offer me this op? I am really happy that ive found someone who not only had this done on the nhs but had this at the same hospital with the same Dr!! Hows things for you now?

please help ive just been refered to derby hospital for the band, can you tell me what to expect from my consultation. Because my Dr. has refered medoes this automatically mean im having the op or do i have to wait and see what the hospital has to say? Also how long till i go for the consultation after being refered? thanks Em
