Pain in chest under left breast
KMO1961 replied to ZaylaEmora24's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh my gosh this happened to me!! I called my friend who had this procedure 3 yrs ago and she had not experienced anything like what I was describing nor had her husband (who also had VSG). Of course my mind went to complications, heart issues, etc! I finally took a prevcid and the pain went away! It was indigestion/gas bubble! -
Depression and feelings of giving up

Know these things...you are beautiful, you are worthy, you are strong, you can do anything you set your mind on! You’ve already tackled the battle, now let’s win the war! Tips from my Dr. Do you have access to a recumbent bike? If you do start using that....slowly 5-10 minutes at first. Work up to walking 1 hr at a time and work up to a brisk walk. I’m still working on both of these too so please don’t feel alone. You’ve got this! -
My Dr told me pre surgery to get something for gas. So I have gas x and Prevacin. the prevacin is a life saver. Walking certainly helps but the prevacin got rid of the horrible pain under my breast bone, which ultimately was gas or indigestion! Im at the end of week 4 and saw Dr on Tuesday. He told me to eat food! Which was good because I had been hungry and the protein drinks only last so long. Im Eating, it’s going slow, but it’s nice to have real food! He said I may not be able to eat some things I used to eat....he was right! I can tolerate coffee but not a full cup. I’m also supplementing food with protein drinks until I get the whole food thing down. constipation....get some Phillips milk of magnesia. The book he gave me said to dilute it a bit with water. You’re almost as far as I am so u should be able to take a small dose now. He said our stomachs are healed at 3 weeks. I’m still being careful but you should feel ok about taking a pill or something for Constipation. If yI u can tolerate sweet potato eat a little. It will help you go to the bathroom. You may have some gas (not abdominal pain if you know what I mean) but it helped me go. Also get some miralax and put t in your hot tea or coffee. That helped me a lot! Everyone is different and some things work for some and not for others. I hope the tips help you feel better! Just think in 6 months we will all be healthier and feel better! cheers!

I was hungry too. Get a can of chicken noodle soup, blend it and drink. It will help fill you up. I also ate some sweet potato which also helped. Oatmeal for breakfast with milk. Don’t make it completly soupy and that will also help. Clearly not all of this in one day, but choose one thing and see how you do. It helped me a lot.

Help so many protein shakes to choose from?
KMO1961 replied to Kr1ckit's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My dr. recommended Muscle Milk, Premier Protein, Isopure, Designers Whey Cytosport, etc. I've been drinking either Muscle Mile or Premier Protein. Trying to get 60 grams of protein/day -
I had surgery on 1/22/18. Sharing a few tips from my dr just in case you're interested. He recommended protein shakes with Whey protein 4 oz a a time sipping every 15 minutes. He said the whey protein is more rapidly absorbed into your body and will help with hair loss and overall nutrition. I like the muscle milk drinks and the Premier Protein shakes. I'm trying to get in at least 60 oz of protein each day but if I can't then I'm not beating myself up.. I too have been finding it difficult to get the protein drinks in and the amount of water needed. Gatorade G2 is great and he recommended that as opposed to propel and vitamin water since G2 has electro lites. I find it easier to drink than regular water. The other thing I've been doing is walking as much as I can to help remove the gas from my body. I still nap during the day because my body is still healing but try to move as much as possible. Just take it one day at a time. Keep us posted on how your doing.

I had surgery Monday, Jan 22nd! So far so good! Although I can feel the protein drinks go into my stomach which is an odd sensation and my stomach grumbles a lot.
