  4. Sorry Ive been MIA! A lot has been going on in my life... but I finally got my dates!!! Pre-op work is June 8th and surgery date is June 21st! I also finished a 4 hour class our insurance makes us take on friday. Is it weird that im terribly excited?!

    Finally got my dates!

Basically what to expect after surgery for the first 6-9 months.
  6. I finished my last appt, which was Psych today! Now to to sit by the phone and play the waiting game for my date... *twiddles thumbs impatiently* How long after you final appts did it take to hear from you doctor?
  7. I finished my psych appt today! The last thing to do on my check list! Now to play the waiting game...
  8. Tomorrow at 10Am, I get to meet with my surgeon again. I've actually lost the 10% of weight they've asked of me, and finished my take home quiz...(Did anyone else have to do it too? LOL.) I'm truly hoping I get my surgery date tomorrow. Also my primary cancelled my appt with her tomorrow, since she was not feeling well. I was supposed to get my clearance letter from her and get my referrals for Psych, UGI and Abdomen ultrasound... But now I'll have to wait until the 15th. How is it I'm nervous and excited at the same time?!
  9. Yes! Yes they were. And no, no extra goals, just to finish up my UGI, and now Psych. Fingers crossed bot call me for an appointment today!
  10. No, I still have to do a UGI, Ultrasound ad Psych visit. I actually just scheduled for the UGI and ultrasound for friday. and I see my primary on the 15th for my medical clearance and referral for Psych. Hopefully I can get all of theis done so I can get in early march...
  11. Lost story short, My mom is not being supportive of me having surgery. Honestly, it kind of sucks. My husband, sister, sister in law, brother in law, and best friend all are. I've only told them... but my mother is telling me I can lose the weight on my own. She knows how much I suffered with my weight all of my life... But she doesn't understand that PCOS, Endometriosis, Hypothyroid and Hypertension all cause water weight/weight gain (idk if she just doesn't believe it?)... Do/Did you have a family member or friend who wasn't supportive?
  12. I would just be open and honest with them. It will show that no matter how hard things can get, it’s okay to get and ask for help with anything.
  13. "The best revenge will be living life as a happy, healthy, active, trim individual." YES!!!
  14. That's horrible. That's something my mother in law and grandmotherinlaw would do if they were still alive... I'm sorry.
  15. My mother, when she was younger was overweight and yo-yoed with it. You think she would fill my pain and struggles (She also has no disorders or diseases). But the last 15-20 years my moms weight has stayed at like 150-155, and shes 5'5". She also had my cousin, who I cherish with all of my heart tell me that she doesn't want me to have surgery too. 97 percent of my family members on my mothers side are all skinny... you think they would want what's best for me...
  16. I hope shes does. thank you hun!
  17. Im sorry you had to go through that with your husband. Thats sounds like my mother right now. May I message you a few questions?
  18. I hope my mother turns around before or after. Maybe because it is a major surgery shes just being weird?.... But I have told her regardless if she supports me or not, I'm having it done for me, my health, and my future.

I honestly don't know love. I did my 6 months weight management with my doctors office, and at my last appt my doctor referred me. and I think insurance has to approve it first before the seminar. But ever doctors office is different.

Yes ma'am. After you talk with your primary, they'll referral you through IEHP. I think I received a call from Dr. Krahns office, 2 or 3 weeks after my appt with my PCP, telling me about the seminar. They hold it I believe twice a month, at like 6 or 6:30 pm at St B's (in a conference room by the cafeteria)... Once you confirm the seminar, you'll get a packet and info to fill out (basically asking what have you tried to lose weight and medical history). I filled mine out before the seminar since I arrived early. During the seminar there'll be some people who work in his office there telling you about the four different types of bypass' and go over any questions you'll have. I think by the time everything was said and done and questions were asked and answers, I think i was there for 2 ish hours. About two weeks I received a call from Dr. Krahns office to schedule my first appt. My first appt was Dec 28th, and there they double checked my medical history and talked about with surgery would be best for me. I was given a giant packet to study and keep for after surgery and was given a "quiz" packet to answer to return back in at my next appt. I was also asked to follow a low carb, high protein diet and to lose 5-10% of weight. My next appt is Feb 2nd, with my PCP for my medical clearance, and also Dr.Krahn's office. Hopefully I'll get my surgery date and do the other necessary requirements done for surgery.

That's where IEHP referred me. Dr. Krahn and Dr. Chin at Saint B's. http://www.westernbariatric.com/ Have you talked with your primary Doctor yet?
  22. Hello, I'm new to all of this. I went and had my first consult and meeting with the surgeon Jan. 28th, 2018. She asked me to lose 10% of my body weight. My weight at my doctors appt was 221.8. and my next appt with my surgeon and PCP(for medical clearance) is Feb 2nd. After following my doctors instructions and sticking to a low carb, high protein diet, today I stepped on the scale and weigh 203.5. If I lose more than 10 percent, will they cancel my surgery?
