Struggling with whey....
Mermaid4Life replied to Just4nise's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
New whey Liquid protien it’s available in the BariatricPal store. It’s fruit bunch flavor It’s whey mixed with collagen and some other type of Protien and doesn’t take like whey either! I can’t keep straight whey shakes down even before surgery. I wld start gagging the minute it touched my mouth. Even the smell before wld have me wanting to throw up. Before i found new whey liquid protien the best I found was roadside lemonade syntax protien powder also in the BariatricPal store. Syntax still had the nasty smell but I didn’t taste the whey. But this new whey liquid protien has neither. It’s so good when I make Protien popsicles with it I have to hide from my kids or they eat them all. Also premier protien clear mango orange is good however it does leave you with cotton mouth idk why but it’s a strange sensation So I have to alternate b/w sips of that and sips of water. -
New Whey Liquid Protein! It's a miracle!!

I LOVE new whey liquid protien. Honestly being able to drink so much protien from day 1 of post op helped my recovery soo much! This stuff tastes great! I have had no pain or complications. I’m 5ft and surgery weight was 194lbs and in the first week post op drinking only water w/ new liquid whey (on the clear liquid phase) I lost 15lbs and had NO nausea! My scale also tracks fat and muscle and the overwhelming majority of that weight loss came from fat. I don’t expect new liquid whey to be my only source of protien forever but it’s soo much easier to keep down than regular Protien shakes when you’re early in the post op stage. It doesn’t have that nasty Protien shake aftertaste that makes you want to gag even before you have surgery. This stuff is so good I made protien popsicles with it and I’ve had to start hiding it from my kids b/c they started eating all my protien pops! -
My doc had us walking from day one. Like 15min of walking every hour Goal of 10K steps a day. But told us no lifting weights or swimming until day 25 post op.

Short and Lower 200's

I started on jan 22 at 216 and 5’1 doing meal replacement shakes twice a day and then the third meal low carb lean protien and green veggies for 3.5 weeks .. i Then had to do 1 week all liquid diet before surgery. By feb 23 I was down to 194lbs the day of surgery. By end of week 2 I was 179 (so -15lbs two weeks post op) I did walk at least 10K steps as recommended by doctor everyday except the day of surgery and 2 days after recovery. I’m religiously low carbing and getting in all of my liquids and protien and vitamins. No cheating for me. Cravings and hunger basically gone. I have to set a timer to remember to “eat” but really drink my Protien. I’m Averaging about 500 cal a day. I’m now in middle of week 3 and have stalled doing exactly the same thing as before. However I hear that week 3 stall is very common. Def worth it for me and like anything if you put in the work your results will be better. Also walking helps your heal faster and lose weight faster. From hours after surgery my doc wanted us walking a lot. Like every hour nurse was waking me up to walk for 15 min. It was annoying at first but honestly I’ve had no gas pain. -
Gas x strips helped me. As well as walking while I drank. Sleeping on left said and also using an electric heating pad on my tummy.

New Whey Liquid Protein! It's a miracle!!

I read great reviews about it on amazon and came here to see what ppl were saying before I ordered. I can’t stand the taste of real milk shakes/Ice cream shakes so having to drink these ice cream flavored protien shakes has been the worst! So I’m looking for something compact I can take like a spoon full of medicine. At 3oz for 42g of protien this seemed like the best option.
