Considering Gastric Sleeve but I have Gout

It's been absolute hell for me. sent from a samsung s7 edge... -
I am in my mid 30's and 6'-1". September 2017 - 429 lbs February 2018 - 365 lbs (Surgery date) Currently 290 lbs. The doctor asked me to do a pre-pre-op diet and wanted me to lose 10% (42 obs) of my weight prior the surgery. It's hard work, but a good life or crappy life. Everything has been fine except for an increase occurrence of gout. sent from a samsung s7 edge...

The bill to my insurance was over $75k. That was just a normal RNY surgery, no complications or anything funky. The bulk of the costs were for the 3 days stay. I paid in the $2k range. sent from a samsung s7 edge...

I have read and was informed by my doctor that the rapid weight loss (of muscle and fat) releases things stored in the fats and muscle that can affect uric acid levels. -

Considering Gastric Sleeve but I have Gout
eplanajr replied to Mrambition30's topic in The Guys’ Room
I am in my late 30’s and have lived with gout for 15 years or so. My father and his father both suffered from it. In the recent years I have mostly avoided flare ups by limiting red meat and just watching what I intake. Maybe once’s every other year. Last year I started my RnY journey. In November, I really ramped up my weight loss through the use of lean cuisines, smart meal choices, protein drinks. I really started shedding the pounds. I am now on my 4th gout attack since November. Left hand (a first time here) Right ankle (pain in Achilles not top of foot like normal) Left ankle (pain in Achilles not top of foot like normal) Right knee (a first time here too) I’m dealing with right now. I had my RnY done last week on 2/2. HW 429 SW 368 CW under 350 I’ll tell you. IT SUCKS. Nothing helps with the pain. Add to that the lack of anti-inflammatory meds....The worse part is that it may be a while before it gets better. I know long term it’s the right decision for me and my young family. -

I started this journey in August... At my September appointment I weighed my HW at a svelte 429. In late October I kicked it into high gear. Tomorrow is my RnY surgery. At last check, two days ago, I was at 368. So we are talking 20ish lbs/month currently. After surgery what rates of loss where you guys experiencing? sent from an android...
