Now that we are approaching our 1 year anniversary I wanted to check in and see how everyone is doing. I hope everyone is happy with their progression. Surgery date 2/9/2018 Heaviest Weight 405 Surgery Weight 367 Current Weight 265 I’m happy with how I’m doing. At my 9 month check up my doctor’s staff had some concerns with me meeting goals. I know this is a life change so I wasn’t upset if I couldn’t get to it within a year. I probably should be closer to my original goal of 250 (which a year ago I thought was impossible) but lately I am having a hard time motivating myself to work out. Brad

I am 6 months out and I still have problems with ice water. Water is all I drink (no coffee or tea) and unless I add a little Crystal Light to my water it feels like lead once it reaches my stomach.

Highest weight : 405 Surgery weight : 367 Current weight : 310 Goal weight : 220 So I realized I haven't posted in a while because somehow my group emails started going to my spam folder. My progress has slowed a little during the summer months. I blame my kids. I'm a stay at home dad with 3 kids and none of them want to eat breakfast, lunch, or snacks at the same time and if I have to help my younger two prepare anything I sometimes end up nibbling on something I'm making them. Not always the times but sometimes. I'll have a couple good days then a couple bad ones (usually right before I weigh myself on Wednesdays). I'm hoping to be well under 300 by my 6 month follow up so I have a couple weeks to get back on track. And just so all you ladies know, hair loss impacts us guys too. Maybe it's because mine is usually kept shorter that it has taken me a while notice but right now I'm in need of a trim and I have definitely started to see it coming out in the shower. Hope everyone is doing well.

Highest weight : 405 Surgery weight : 367 Current weight : 327 Goal weight : 250 So I’m down 40 since my surgery and almost 80 since I started the process. I’m slowly going down in shirt and pant sizes, but besides my wife no one else seems to notice. And that bums me out a little. I know I’m doing this for myself but with I guess I want more recognition.

Highest weight 405 Surgery weight 367 Current weight 330.6 Goal weight 250 right now but really just want to see a 2 in that first column. Down 2.5 this week. When I checked earlier this week I was up so I thought this was going to be a bad week weight-wise. But I was still in a good mood because regardless of what the scale says I know I’m doing good because my pants keep falling down and I needed to get a new belt. Like someone else said I wish I took measurements before surgery so I could see the changes there too. Hope everyone else is doing well!!

Highest weight 405 Surgery weight 367 Current weight 333 Goal weight 250 right now I’m happy I lost the weight I put on during our cruise vacation plus I lost an additional pound so yay!! My main issue now that I’ve been cleared for most foods is chewing. I was always a fast eater one bite two bite swallow. When I do that now I have to make a quick trip to the bathroom because I’m about to get sick. In other news I had a wound open up on my stomach right after surgery. It left a 1.5 inch hole on my stomach. Well two months later and it’s finally closed.

Hi everyone. I’ve missed the last 2 weigh ins. I’m actually up 4 pounds since my last post. On the 21st we left for Miami. My family had a Disney cruise booked since well before my surgery date was set. I was cleared for an unrestricted diet starting the 17th so I thought I would be good. We drove from Chicago straight through to Miami and at the start of the trip I was good but 23 hours of driving I caught myself snacking on the kids pretzels or goldfish. I made sure to get my protein in but just like the trip down carbs made their way into my diet on the cruise. I usually only ate an appetizer at dinner and got my fill. My body would let me know if I wasn’t behaving, at least once a day I had to go to the bathroom to purge because I ate too much or too fast. I’m upset about the 4 pounds but I did it to myself I didn’t always make the best choices and now that I’m home again I can right the ship.

The clinic I go to required my wife and I to watch a video about the surgery and that mentioned that some type of bowel prep was going to be needed. But when I actually went through the pre-op meeting with the doctors they are only having me on protein shakes and water tomorrow no magnesium citrate, surgery is Friday.
