Aldi has squatty potties for $9.99

My wife doesn't mind it in front of our toilet. All she asks is that I clean it and not her. -
at week 5 I was between 500-700 calories

Great job on getting in activity. If you are working out as much as you posted you need energy to keep going. My nutritionist had me add more calories daily to keep up with my new routine. Talk to your bariatric team on this as well as how much activity you are getting in, I had to wait 6 weeks to be cleared for exercise beyond walking.

my goto was ground turkey, a low carb pasta sauce blended together. Add a little parm when eating and its like heaven

I have Kaiser in Southern California. If you have gone through the Options Classes (sounds like yes) you are in. A friend was put on a different program as they did not meet the requirement for Options (BMI 40+ or BMI 35-39 with one co morbidity). If not sure just speak to the Health office coordinator where the classes where held and ask if your referral to the surgeon has been sent.

Was Sleeved back in March of this year, turned 40 a month later. I looked into it about 5 years ago but decided to wait. Right after surgery I thought should have done it then, but now is a better time than any and feel my thinking has matured more. I am no longer Diabetic (type 2 since 2011) and everything else has been great health wise. Just got into running, slow and and steady but building endurance, and planning on doing my first 5K this Thanksgiving. When I started walking back in September of 2017 at the beginning of my Sleeve journey I was walking at a 24 minute mile, currently right under 15 minutes a mile now. So far this has been a great experience and an eye opener at my lifestyle. I weigh less now than when I got married 16 years ago and almost down to my high school weight. My motivation is flying high and am enjoying this part of my life.

Received the ebay shirts. Spider-Man is XL and Hulk is XXL

No worries, please use it as you like. I heard it from a classmate in our post surgery group, and it made sense.

I only told a few people before the surgery, I did not want to hear about their dads friends uncle who's neighbor sister had surgery and failed. When people that knew me prior to surgery mention I have been loosing weight, I tell them thanks. That usually kills it it right there. If they ask what I'm doing I might mention the surgery, depending on how the person asks, I can hear it in the tone. I am 4 months out now and up to about month 2 I would tell them I had surgery when asked, but noticed how judgey some people were. Depending on how I am asked, I respond with "I am watching what I am eating and going to the gym", or if I'm comfortable with them I will mention the surgery as well as the changes in eating and the gym. The way I see it is haters are gonna hate, that's their trip and not mine.

Pain wasn’t to bad. I had the IV pain meds at the hospital and one day of pain pills. My nurse called on the 3rd day and I told I didn’t feel I needed the pain meds and she said if I need a little something liquid Tylenol otc was fine. I was really sore and it felt like I had done thousands of sit-ups. By the 5th day I was feeling better. I was off from work 2 1/2 weeks. I wish I would have taken longer. I was really tired by the end of the day. Felt a lot better once I got to soft foods.

Hello Mama_Gee, sorry this is super long. I went through Options at Kaiser Panorama City. I started classes in late September of 2017 and ended them on December 7th. Cleared by Dr. Alskaf (head of Options) on December 13th losing 12.8 pounds during the Options program. Then had to wait for my surgeon appointment and was called right before Christmas. Met with my surgeon Dr. Kim at Kaiser West L.A. on January 8th. During that time I gained about 5 pounds, it was tough because of Christmas and New years. He said I was good to go but wanted me to loose 10 more pounds and let me know that at any point I gain weight, I would have to restart Options. I was also told once close to the 10 pounds to schedule surgery. After getting back on track I called to schedule surgery, knowing i would hit the 10 pounds in a few weeks. I was scheduled for surgery on March 7th 2018, with pre-op surgery appointment on February 23rd, which by then I had lost 12.4 pounds. On surgery day I when weighed I had lost an additional 5.5 pounds. Surgery went smooth and I was home the next day on the 8th. So far its been a great experience and the team at kaiser very helpful. Best advice I can give you is don't miss any of your options classes. I noticed people who did had a tough time making them up. Also I recommend the Surgery group meetings. I go weekly and its great help because every week the Behaviorist and Nutritionist alternate and you are with people who are or have gone through the surgeries, we even have a few who will be going. Some of the people in my group are 5 plus years out and its good to pick their head about experiences. Overall I'm very happy with Kaisers program and found it very beneficial in the expectation leading to and after surgery. The after surgery group is the best, yesterday I learned a few recipes that are great tasting and very satisfying for my sleeve, without making me feel icky. Best of luck.

Question for you Matt. I know they list the sizes as Asian, how off is it to US sizing? I currently use a US XL size. Which using the inch to cm conversion looks like their size XXL. What size is you superman shirt for reference? we are the same height and i weigh 255 now.

Hey Matt, check out aliexpress. This is most likely where redplume is sourcing their gear, and most have free shipping. The only issue is the time to receive your gear. https://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?catId=100003071&initiative_id=AS_20180706080853&SearchText=super+hero+compression

I originally purchased a compression shirt right after surgery because it was easier to use and more comfortable than the band the doctor gave me. Now I use compression shirts to help with the loose skin. I am starting to run and with 100+ lbs lost my skin jiggles a lot. The compression shirt helps reduce much of that jiggle, that is the main reason I use it. There are other claims about it such as helping circulation and keep body heat in as well as wick away moisture.

I bought a sleeveless under armour at big 5. it was on sale for $25 i went with a 2x weighd about 280 (about a month after surgery) at the time. I also found compression T's at target for $13. As for size go 1 size smaller than you wear. good thing about going to a store is you can try them on. After you learn your size you can buy online as well. Good luck.

Did anyone else’s doctor tell them a pre-op diet is not necessary?
nenes78 replied to Elle_Woods's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My program was 13 weeks of classes prior to getting cleared for surgery starting with 1800 calories a day working down to 1200. After classes we were cleared to visit the surgeon. After the initial weigh in with the surgeon he warned if i weighed one ounce more on any visit (initial and pre-op) I would have to start all over. Once surgery date scheduled i had liquid diet 2 days before and nothing for 12 hours before surgery. I went through Kaiser Options program -
its normal, your body is adjusting. Here is a good read http://100down.org/the-whoosh-effect/

How do I get through the "3 Week stall"
nenes78 replied to AdiosAnnie300's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Its totally normal. Our bodies are very efficient and don't waste. What happens is when the cells holding fat are depleted they fill with water. Our bodies do this because it would be inefficient to destroy a fat cell immediately, in case we need fat storage at a later time so water is stored in the cell until the body realizes that the cells are truly no longer needed. Then all the water and cells are let go. Its known as the whoosh effect, there are many articles online about it. here is a link for you to read up on http://100down.org/the-whoosh-effect/ Just stick to your plan and ride the wave -
Also the pouch reset is a reset on the metabolism which really happens and helps. I have seen many variants online but the fundamental issue is the same for all, you are relearning to eat again.

Perspectives on Losing Fast & Slow
nenes78 replied to GreenTealael's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I want the weight to fall off faster, but remind myself i didn't put it on overnight either. I am very happy that I now exercise and actually enjoy it. I didn't go one evening and actually threw myself off and felt off. I hated walking and can now do a 15 minute mile, am slowly introducing jogging and hope to do my first 5K this fall (i know I can walk it but i want to run). I'm off all my diabetic meds and no more back pain. I'm down 54 ponds since surgery and 105 since my heavyist, I am 3 months out. I hated vegetables my whole life and learned what I was missing during my pro-op program (Kaiser Options) and quite enjoy them now and have learned there are many ways to prepare them besides boiled/steamed (what I grew up with). What has been fun is actually going to the movie theater and sitting comfortably in the seats, or sitting in a chair anywhere and not having the fear of snapping it. It's been a fun ride this far and still looking forward to the rest of it.
