Am I eating too many POPSICLES???

Remember of the 4g of carbs 2g are sugar alcohol. So you can deduct that from net carbs but the sugar alcohol can also mess with your gut. I eat about 3-4 as a snack maybe 2-3 times a week, especially since its summer and hot.
  6. I use Bariatric Choice from amazon. I think BariatricPal sells them as well. here is the amazon link. https://www.amazon.com/Bariatric-Choice-Multivitamin-Supplement-Patients/dp/B07HZ3YQ5X My numbers are great for bloodwork and only $30 for a 90 day supply
  7. I have forehead acne since surgery. Never had an issue as a teen. I'm 41.

    Super Cold

I am cold all the time since surgery. I know many people that feel the same since surgery as well. I now carry a sweatshirt in the car at all times, and have a jacket at work since the temp is set at 72 all the time. Prior to surgery I was always hot and easily sweat. Now I really have to work to break any sort of sweat.
  9. Not as tall as you all, 5'9". Weight is as follows 333 at the start of Pre-Op program 306 Surgery date 3/7/19 264 3 months 240 6 months 201 12 months 178 today 16 months With bypass you should be loose more up front than the sleeve.
  10. 1. Latinos or anyone strongly influenced by your culture: HOW did you cope with losing this part of you? You don't loose this part. It sits on the back burner for a bit. 2. What do you all do at family gatherings, parties, and on holidays while everyone is eating? Early on I would bring my own food to events. It is hard to see everyone eat while you are limited but the more you do it the easier it gets. I see people avoid the situations, but lets be realistic, you cannot hide this way for the rest of your days. learn to deal with it and move on. I like to sit with family and friends while we eat. I used to eat more , but now I talk more. 3. What do you eat? recipes are welcomed! I’ve been told to eat yogurt, chicken meatballs, canned Soup, and all kinds of food I'm not use to... Have you found a way to make your Latin food healthy? I stuck to my teams meal plan for the first 8 months and then started to make it my own. I focus on protein and veggies, many Latin foods are both. 4. Peruvians or Peruvian food lovers: Can you still eat things like ceviche, aji de gallina, lomo saltado, and anticucho, just minus the rice? Can your stomach handle the spice and seasonings? I am Guatemalan, with 2 best friends who are Peruvian. I can handle most spicy things again, (can no longer deal with straight habanaro anymore). By 10 months out I was fine eating spicy. As for the foods above all are easy except the anticucho and lomo saltado. Beef has been real hard for me unless its ground, but I know people who have no issue, and yes rice I can no longer handle, but to me that's a good thing. 👍
  11. Don't look at it as a slip. Look at it as a choice. It's okay to choose something off plan, just try to not make it a daily thing. I choose to go and have a margarita with my wife once a month. We used to go every weekend to our spot, order a pitcher and I would go through most of it. Now I order a single one and savor it, most times I don't even finish it. I will share some food bites with her and enjoy a side salad. That is my choice. Don't sweat it.
  12. I was told by my team half an hour at least before or after. This has been the hardest for me, I am 1 yr 3 Mo since surgery. Especially if its very salty. My Nutritionist suggested asking for a half cup of ice cubes. If I really feel the urge I will request ice, I love the stares from people, and take a cube if I really need to. Luckily it has gotten easier and I don't request it as often.

    Purées egg salad?

I do 1/4 mayo to 3/4 Greek yogurt. The mayo passes the flavor to the yogurt and you save on calories. Same for tuna salad and chicken salad, when you are ready.
  14. Walking is what I do. When head hunger strikes, I walk for 20-30 minutes. If its still there after, i will have a healthy snack. Most of the times it has left.
  15. Found some old shorts. Had to do the cheesy pics.
  16. I had surgery in March last year and went to Vegas that August. Eating was according to plan, I mostly shared with my wife, went to a buffet (it was $5) and had egg whites and a little ham. I only went to that one as it was cheap, otherwise I would not have done the buffet because of the waste of money. Alcohol I hadn't tried yet as i waited for 6 months before having a sip. 👍

    Day 2 post op

Glad to hear you are home and healing. Too bad about the staff at the hospital. If they give a followup call make sure you tell them about your experience and how it made you feel.

Made it to the other side!!!!

G2 may not be the best choice for a drink, as each serving of 12oz has 7g of sugar, 8g of carbs. Gatorade now has G Zero, it maybe a better alternative as it has 0 sugars and less than 1g of carbs. Another I love is Powerade Zero. Congrats on your surgery.

    NSV shout outs

Was at the GAP on Saturday and they had a Spider-Man T-shirt I liked. They only had S and M. I just went from a XL to and L recently and was a bit bummed no L in stock. My wife said try on the M, I did and it fit. From a 3X to a Medium in less than 1 1/2 years, what a trip it has been.
  20. I did sleeve. I figured why change the plumbing. Seriously though, my surgeon recommended the bypass because of the malabsorption would help the rest of my life. He said that RNY tends to loose more and keep it off overall compared to sleeve. That comparison he said was his experience and was just letting the surgeries work. He said there is usually regain after people start eating off plan years later and that the bypass malabsorption would help with less regain compared to the sleeve. But in the end he said it was my choice.
  21. The recommendation from my team is keep it simple at first, hold off on fancy sauces, marinades and sides. Your first solid food meals you probably won't even finish since a bite or two will fill you up. Also introduce foods one at a time, that way if your new sleeve/pouch rejects something you can narrow it down easier, food logging also helps with this. Good Luck 👍.

    Frustrating

This is correct. Stick to what your Bariatric Team told you and the stalls will pass. The stalls are frustrating but it all works out in the end.

    amusement parks post-op

One of the best NSV since surgery as being able to go to Six Flags and ride any coaster. I had not been able to go on 80% of the rides in the last 15 years because of the girth I was at. I love them just the same and they feel no different now.

    Non Scale Victories

yes I miss the natural padding my rear had. I feel it the most on non padded seats such as the wooden pews at my church. But I would not give up where I am today to get that padding back 😄
