  1. I use iTrackBites. Originally i used for the WeightWatchers part (can do the different WW systems as well as calories) as well as it has a great scanner, exercise tracker, recipe builder, online search for many common foods as well as restaurant guide etc. these are all in app purchases that come out for the bundle for $6 and has auto cloud backup. They also offer a monthly pro subscription plan, my wife has this for the new WW plan. The main app is a free download, check it out.
  2. For taking in air while drinking you need to adjust how you take in fluids, which for me was tough after decades of doing it one way. I'm 3 months out and still will take in air if I'm not careful. What I do is take the water in my mouth, exhale through the nose and swallow. My wife would giggle as I drank, but I have got it down to where almost no one notices. Good luck.

    3 weeks down

    great job
  5. My doc took me off all the diabetic meds minus metformin. If my numbers are over 100 in the morning, I was told to take one tablet (i was taking 2 a day and 2 other meds). At first it was every other day now I can go about 4 days. I'm 6 weeks out since surgery. Talk to your Dr.

    Powerade Zero

Grape Powerade Zero for the win.
  8. Things I can do again since surgery are tying my shoes by just bending over(hadn't done that in almost 15 years), sitting comfortably in a movie theater seat. I'm looking forward to working up to running a 5K, go on long backpacking trips with my sons Scout Troop (did a 2.5mi each way once at 350, I was the slowest in the rear and in pain after that weekend) and fitting into a roller coaster seat again. Eventually I would like to do a sprint triathlon and sky dive.

    Time Off Work?

I took 2 1/2 weeks. Sleeved on 3/7 and back 3/26. I do have a desk job but also have a lot of walking around the office as well. First week I was dead tired by the end of the day do to the low calorie intake from liquid/puree stage of foods. Now onto soft foods have felt a lot better.

    One Month Post Op/Plateau?

    hope this helps https://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.php
  12. I've hit a stall. I know its my body adjusting. My body shape is changing but the weight is staying the same. I know its water and am waiting for the woosh. Hitting about 70-80 grams of protein and my 64oz of water and between 700-900 calories. Just starting soft foods.

    Sleeved 3/7/18

I was sleeved the same day. I'm 20lbs down. Don't worry that is quite a bit of weight in 3 weeks. Plus if you count any pre surgery weight loss its much more. Remember we are very low calorie intake at this stage and our bodies are adjusting.
  15. I went back to work this past Monday after 2 1/2 weeks of resting. Every day by 4pm I am drained. I do have a desk job but the standing and sitting have been rough. I feel like a sit-up champion by the end of the day.
  16. No. That was my starting weight back in may of last year from talking to my PCP about surgery. Surgery day I was 306 so 20lbs in 3 weeks.
  17. 3 Weeks out as of yesterday. On Puree stage now. Started work again on Monday and everything is good minus feeling dead tired by the end of the work day. 2 shakes plus a little protein like yogurt, cottage cheese. My goal is about 90g of protein and my 64oz of water. Besides that, all is good and getting in about 2 miles of walking in the late evening.
  18. Good to hear. Have a speedy recovery. I’m 3 weeks post op today and felt as you described. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Secret sleevers?!

Prior to surgery I only told a few people I was comfortable with, who were all supportive. Now that’s it’s done people are noticing, especially being away from work a few weeks. I tell them if they ask what I did. The way I see it is haters gonna hate and that’s their trip not mine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Any Kaiser Patients

The Psych evaluation is optional from my understanding. The interactions with the doctors and options staff is what could necessitate the evaluation. Our behavioralist said that if a person was like “right after surgery I’m signing up for the miss universe pageant” that could trigger the evaluation. Everyone is different and has different needs.

    Any Kaiser Patients

I have Kaiser I went to options in Panorama City campus. I finished classes on Dec 7th. Dec 13th Dr Alskaf at Panorama cleared me to schedule to see the Surgeon. I was scheduled with my Surgeon Dr Kim at Kaiser West LA on Jan 8th (holidays pushed it back). Dr said I needed to loose a few more pounds. Once I got close to goal weight I called and was scheduled for pre-op on Feb 23 and was sleeved Mar 7th. Yesterday was 2 weeks and going back to work on Monday Mar 26th. Just make sure you stick to your options eating plan once done. I gained 6 lbs between end of classes and first surgeon visit. That’s why Dr Kim told me I had to looses a bit more and warned if I came back and weightled more the surgery would be cancelled. It literally flew by and I’m feeling great. Best of luck to you.
  22. This is gonna be long. Had surgery on 3/7/18. Went smooth per the doctor. No catheter, nurse said they don’t use them on such a fast surgery. When I woke no pain from the breathing tube luckily. What I do remember is being told to breathe because my respiratory rate was hanging between 8-13. Once out of recovery I was moved to my room. Went on my first walk about 3 hours out of surgery. It really helped and caused me to burp a lot (get that gas out). Went on a second walk which got me to pee which made the staff happy. I walked a few times through out the night. Had killer dry mouth and they gave my glycerin lemon swabs to help. I went through at least 10 packs. Next morning had first sips of water starting at 6am. I had to drink an oz over 30 min for a total of 6oz. Went for a walk around 7 and finally passed gas. I sounded like ducklings in the hall and was laughing. Released around 11:30am. Was it really in much pain at the hospital as they kept the pain going in the IV. At home the pain was not horrible, more discomfort. Stopped takin the liquid liquid hyrdocordone/Tylenol on Friday the 9th. My nurse said take some extra strength Tylenol if I have pain. Taking my vitamins and meds per the doc. Finally had a BM on Sunday morning. I would feel a bit of pain sitting and standing up as well as rolling over at night in bed. Today on day 7 (my doctor called going home day 0) I woke up and rolled over and no pain. I rolled back and still no pain. I was like huh, so I sat up and stood and again no pain. It was like literally my body was done with it. Have never had that happen ever but have felt great today, even walking 25 minutes around the neighborhood. Best advice I can give is to walk as it helps the blood circulation which helps the healing process. Now let’s get to eating. I have not really had hunger in this last week. I have to remind myself to take water that I installed the WaterMinder app on my phone. First 3 days I had isopure protein and water. Now on full inquisition diet and have a premiere protein shake in the morning and evening. I tried yogurt for the first time yesterday and ate half over 45 minutes and had the other half today. Also had progresso light soup strained out all the potatoe and veggies, had half on Sunday and the other half Tuesday. Went out for dinner with family on Saturday night. My wife said she felt horrible because I could not eat but I was fine with my water. The water really keeps me full. I’m keeping a food diary and counting the calories and have an intake between 350-450 a day. And lastly weight loss. My weight on suergey day was 306. Today my weight was at 292. I’m only a week in but am going to take advantage of the “Honeymoon Stage”. Best advice I can give in this early stage is to make sure you get in your protein and water as best as you can and walk. Sorry for the long post and good luck on your surgery.

    War wounds lol

The burping seams to be normal. Let it all out. This morning I woke up and it didn’t kill to get out of bed this morning. Also this maybe TMI but I passed a lot of gas the night before. My doc gave me GasX and it seams to be working. Soreness is a lot less this morning and the bloating has gone down considerably. Hang in there.

    I made it outttttt wooohoooo

I agree. Last night was my first night home, and I slept so much better than at the hospital. Congrats again.

    Any March 2018 Sleevers?

Sleeved yesterday. Was able to walk a few hours later. Discomfort was more than the pain. Pain felt like I did a ton of sit-ups. Finally had water this morning and just finished my 6 oz. one oz every 30 min. Finally passed gas while having my walk. Sounded like a duckling following me that I laughed. To the recent sleevers hang in there. This is what we needed.
