Guessing weight loss vs true weight loss
nenes78 replied to Mimiwumba's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That is correct about the percentage. I've lost almost 173 lbs since starting the journey and 132lbs since surgery day. -
If and when anyone is ready for bread, I like Nature's Harvest Light. 80 calories for a 2 slices. I do open face and only use 1 slice. Here is the Nutrition info on 1 slice. It tastes good and gets the job done. Don't make it part of every meal. Personally a loaf lasts me quite some time as I have 2 maybe 3 slices throughout the week. My nutritionist recommends toasting a slice and making open face sandwiches. as long as you are good to go on more solid foods avocado toast should be fine. She recommends toasting as it decreases the glycemic index.👍

Why did you choose the surgery you had/will have?
nenes78 replied to KlaPV's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon had suggested bypass. I wanted sleeve. He had recommend it as it is malabsorption for life and that would achieve the greatest results he felt. I figured why change the plumbing and was willing to make the changes I needed. He said sleeve was fine as long as i remember that it was not malabosrption for life. After the one year checkup he said I was good and surpassed their expectation of my weight loss, I lost more than was expected from either surgery. -
9 plus years post op and weight gain
nenes78 replied to chequitaluv's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm almost 2 years out of surgery. I eat what my family eats only smaller portions and try to keep the carbs low, so if we have a pasta night, I do a 1/4 cup and the rest will be salad, dressings I use and i dip my fork into it then grab lettuce. as for logging we cant always measure but a guesstimate is better then not logging at all, hhen i guesstimate I go higher calories then lower. For work I also keep low calorie protein bars on hand. As for bread I found a multigrain bread that's only 40 calories per slice, so if I have a sandwich I do open face and load up on veggies. Also what surgery did you have @chequitaluv? Your profile says lap-band. Good luck 😀 -

CALLING ALL MEN !!!! CALLING ALL MEN!
nenes78 replied to november11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to get a new DL as well. I went to a club back in October and the bouncer just looked at it and then me and said really? I had to show him my phone progress pics and he laughed and suggested the DL also. -

3 month appt. What I am doing wrong
nenes78 replied to Lynda486's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Dietitian also had me bump up my calories at 3 months. I was doing 30 minutes of cardio daily and she said I needed the extra calories, otherwise starvation mode kicks on. -

5 days post op! My story this far.
nenes78 replied to jlb8080's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great to hear its going good. I would take as much time off as possible. I took 2 1/2 weeks and also have a desk job, wish I could have taken the 6 weeks offered. The issue is not the activity but this early on you are only taking in a few hundred calories a day. For me I was drained by the end of my shift. Congrats again on your journey this far. -
I take it as not cheating, it's a conscious decision. I do food log everything, I put in my mouth. For Halloween someone passed around some kisses. I grabbed 2 and scanned the bag, and put down the 2 in my food log for the day. I only ended up eating one, and I savor that moment using a mindful eating technique I learned in my pre-op classes. The other I had the next day, and adjusted the food log for that day.

Communication is key. We all hit bumps in the road. There could also be underlying issues before surgery that come to light after. There are many articles on the subject of relationships with oneself and others after bariatric surgery. I'll post a couple links. Hang in there. https://www.obesityaction.org/community/article-library/relationship-challenges-before-and-after-weight-loss-surgery/ https://www.everydayhealth.com/diet-nutrition/bmi/getting-bariatric-surgery-unexpected-way-your-relationship-status-may-change/

It can also be a sign of being full, at 2 days out an once or two of water and I was done. I am 1yr 8 months out and when I start reaching full, I get the sniffles. If I go a bit more it becomes hiccups and If I don't stop there its game over. Good luck. 👍
-
I also do this and am 1 year 8 months out. One time at the market I was waiting for a couple to move and they looked at me oddly for not squeezing by, then I realized it and snuck on by and started laughing at myself.

Does anyone eat Protein bars instead of protein drink?
nenes78 replied to BQT's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
These are the best bars I have had. Plenty of flavors. There are people I know who don't like the consistency (gelatin) but the nutrition info is great on these https://builtbar.com/pages/nutrition -
the greater possibility of introducing air to your sleeve.

I would be fine @ 200. As of right now I've been hovering about 175 since July. I am not trying to loose anymore and have been doing maintenance. But feel 200 would be fine if that is where I stayed
