Hi there Congrats on your decision. I was banded at Knox last wednesday and although its been tough to go through my regrets are already going and the scales are moving in the right direction. I hated the Optifast. I threw it up and couldnt drink it. I changed to celebrity slim(mmmm berry fudge bars are the best) and I ended up losing 18.5kgs in 3 months before the operation. The thing is as you are being banded in 12 days this is the time when you MUST stick to the pre op diet. I know of someone who was opened up by the surgeon and then promtly closed back up again because her liver was to big and fatty. The whole point of the optifast is to put your body into ketosis and make your liver shrink so the surgeon can get to your stomach. As for your boyfriend. If you have some to this huge decision and are going through this operation without telling him then he really is not important in your life as he maybe once was. You do need to concentrate on you and you will need a lot of help, especially in the week after the operation. I hope that you have at least got someone to look after you afterwards. I don't think that you should be with somone you cant even tell about your operation. You dont need the emotional baggage while dealing with this new fabulous change in your life. Good luck Cazz

Day six after surgery for me and I honestly don't know if anything I am feeling is right or wrong. Im constantly dizzy/light headed when in an upright position(I have a call in to the nurse at the clinic on this) and Although I have not been hungry at all since the surgery I seem to be able to get all liquids down faster than what I have seen people talk about. That being said I think the reason for the dizziness may be that Im not eating enough??? I have lost 3kgs since the surgery though which Im rather pleased about. Even though I have read the literature, spoken to my dietitan and watched her DVD I still worry that what I am eating will move the band. I can say that my surgeon was very impressed with me on the day of surgery, In all my scans he said showed a very fatty liver, and when he opened me up he said my liver was perfect with no fat at all. Im very impressed with myself on this one as I know all the sacrifices I made was worth it. I have been in the regret phase the last couple of days(anyone else have this feeling) I guess you can all tell I am very confused about everything. If anyone can shed some light on any of my questions I'd be grateful, that is if you can decipher the madness! Thanks Cazz ____________________________________ Banded April 9th 2008 3kgs down already

Hi Everyone Im being banded tomorrow at Knox and I am so excited. A little nervous. I've been on Celebrity Slim(Threw up the Opti-crud) since christmas and have lost 18.5kgs Still have another 45 to go and I know the band will help me with that! I just found this forum last night. I am a member on another Aussie forum but find it very hard to read, this one is heaps better. Anyway I wanted to say Hi and hope to meet other Aussie Banders and maybe a few local ones too. I'm Cazz, Im 33 and Married to a fantastic Man for almost 11 years now. Been overweight my whole post pubescent life. We've been trying to have a baby for longer than we have been married, done IVF and other fertility treatments and have had 5 natural pregnancies and 5 treatment related pregnacies. Sadly none of these have resulted in a live birth and this is one of the reasons I am getting banded. Its the last obstical to clear to see what reason I have for miscarrying all the time. I do have other reasons like my health and wanting to wear nice clothes and being able to do more etc etc but this one is a main reason. Anyway enough about me. I hope to get to kow some of you better. Cazz:unsure:

Managing to get the fluids down although I have not been hungry at all yet. I know I still have to eat but its very scary every time something goes in my mouth! Going back to rest now Would love to keep in touch with you all Cazz
