How is it possible that I’ve actually gained 2lbs on my pre-op liquid diet? I’ve been 100% liquids for 9 days now and have followed it exactly the way my nutritionist told me. 🤦♀️

June 11th for this girl! -
This waiting for answers and approvals is killing me!!!

No matter the age we always want our parents approval. I am 54 years old and go thru same issue with my parents. I woke up in my hospital room after being opened up and closed right back up. I still had to recover and was so devastated to find out I hadn’t had the surgery! My parents came to visit me and as they sat in my hospital room my mother tells me this is all crazy and that I should just get some diet pills. Real supportive!!! Nevertheless less, I am still going to have the surgery. My body, my choice. Period.

Well as you may or may not know my surgery on April 9th did not go as planned. Opened me up and closed me up almost as fast. Found a fatty mass but doc didn’t know what it was so he was hesitant to continue. Long story short, between the treatment from the staff at hospital to the treatment I’ve since received from the surgeon, my PCP is asking me to move on to a diff hospital and program. She’s appealing my insurance to get me into her hospital. Hoping it works. I’m tired of waiting. Ready to finally get this done and begin new journey. Feels like I’m in limbo.

Gastric Bypass option off table-having sleeve
tuckersmom posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So as some of u know I went in a week ago today for my rny bypass and came home with nothing done. Found a fatty mass in position making it impossible to have the full bypass. Surgeon says I can have the sleeve. So my question to you all is what is your experience with the sleeve? I’ve seen many posts of reversion from sleeve to rny bypass so that concerns me that the sleeve does t work quite as well. Will I have same results with sleeve? How much slower is the weight loss with the sleeve? Any info, opinions, experience you can share is much appreciated! -
Gastric Bypass option off table-having sleeve
tuckersmom replied to tuckersmom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Met with surgeon two days ago. Treated poorly (and that’s putting it mildly) so I walked out never to return. He is the only surgeon for Bariatric at this hospital so I’m going elsewhere. I’m fine with getting the sleeve, just not with him and his program. -
Hi there. Surgery did not go well. Surgeon found large mass in my bowel area and could not finish the surgery so he stitched me back up and said to come back after I heal from this in 4-6 weeks. Pathology on the mass just reads as fatty tissue. Guess that’s my silver lining. This has been the worst experience. Not my first surgery so I pretty much know how care and hospitals work and this hospital not so good. So my plan is to move forward from this and try to stay positive. I still feel the surgery is a good route for me. However I have so many commitments ahead of me for the summer that the timing won’t work and now I’ll have to wait until the fall. Very disheartening to say the least.

Gastric Bypass option off table-having sleeve
tuckersmom replied to tuckersmom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
As I understand it, that’s correct. The mass cannot be removed. I’m not sure why and frankly everything I was told in the hospital is a bit of a blur due to meds. I see surgeon in two days to have staples removed so of course I’ll ask many questions. What I was clear about is the pathology on the mass shows nothing more than fatty tissue. It’s embedded into my small intestine. Surgeon was clear that I still qualify for a sleeve and that it could be done in 4-6 weeks once I’m healed from this fiasco. Lol -

It took me 2 years to actually make the decision for surgery. To me, it was an extreme last resort. But once I made the decision and began the process I felt good about it. Yes there were several days I thought I’d made wrong choice but I kept on with the process. I figured if I don’t want to do it I have right up until surgery day to change my mind. Well my surgery is in six days!!! April 9th I will enter the hospital and finally take my life back. I will have a tool to help me control the food. The food will no longer control me.

What hospital? I’m going to Hurley Hospital and surgery date is April 9th—only 6days away!

My liquids are specific from my surgeon so I’m not allowed to change to a different protein drink. I am drinking at least 48 oz of water daily. Some days more. Just bit frustrating. [emoji21]

What vitamins do you recommend?
tuckersmom replied to beccaconaty87's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgeon wrote me a script for vitamins and my insurance paid for them. All are chewable and do not make me nauseous. The brand is BariActiv and for B12 I have Nascobal which is a weekly nasal spray. -
What do you guys do for fun?
tuckersmom replied to ancirasd's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Spending time with the grandkids and when we’re not doing that, hubby and I are riding our Harley’s! My motorcycle is my passion and freedom and just one of the reasons I’m on this wls journey. We have some long road trips planned and being in shape will help with fatigue and riding in general. -
