Its completely normal to feel this way. I was sad at first too but it does pass. Right now you have FOMO. All I can say is the food will always be there. Now you have to find other ways to occupy your time. Its just now becoming clear that food was the center our worlds revolved around. I'm 6 weeks out and 32 lbs. down. This is the best decision of my life. Believe me it does get better.

Hello All, I am a little over 5 weeks out and 30 lbs. down. I am 12 lbs. away from Onederland which I am very excited about. Some of my clothes are starting to fit big and most of my clothes are just starting to fit comfortably. This surgery has been a big confidence booster. I am feeling a bit tired but I attribute the fatigue to my lack of protein. I'm in my soft foods stage now so I'm going to try protein bars because I'm tired of protein shakes. Mentally, cravings and hunger are getting easier. I'm really happy for everyone, this was the best decision we could've made for ourselves.

I had my post op visit on May 31st and I have lost 22 lbs. since my pre op visit on May 8th. TWENTY-TWO pounds in THREE weeks! I was shook lol and to top it off I got the green light to move on to pureed foods. Applesauce and avocado are my faves at the moment. Still struggling to get in my protein but I know it will get easier. My doctor wants me back in the office in 3 months and wants me to lose 15 lbs. or more. I feel like that is going to be a piece of cake! In case anyone is wondering I am 5'2 and now weigh 220 lbs.

Salads with grilled chicken are definitely the 1st thing I'm going to eat when my can eat solids again. I'm sure it's just the food restrictions right now that have me feeling regretful but I'm sure it'll pass. I can already see a difference and so can those around me so that's motivating

@Controvento It's Comforting to know that I'm not alone. My husband has a naturally athletic build and so he can't really relate. But I'm glad that we all have this outlet to express what we're going through. I'm sure we'll feel better when we're off this liquid diet. If anybody even says the word soup I'm punching them in the throat lol JK

I am 11 days post op. And I find myself feeling a bit down. Part of it is because of this liquid dietthat I'm so over. I have to force myself to drink liquids because I'm so over it. But another part is I feel a void that cannot be filled. I underestimated Just how challenging this was going to be Mentally. It's crazy but I actually started having thoughts of regret thinking about how I can't eat the way I used to. I've been writing in my journal and that's helped but I just wonder if anyone else is feeling the same way.

I went back 8 days post op and I was just fine. I am at my desk for most of the day so take that into consideration. Good luck!

I went back to work yesterday and I was so surprised by all the compliments! My coworkers all say that they can see a difference already and it's only been 9 days. I keep this in mind when I start to feel tired of this liquid stage. I hope everyone is staying strong!

I am honestly not really counting water/liquid intake. As long as I'm peeing I take it that I'm getting enough fluids. The protein I am tracking and so far today I've had about 30 grams of my 60-80 goal. I am burping as well and the gurgling was non stop until today. There are time when I sip and I feel this tightness in my tummy as the fluid goes down. Its not all the time but I stop for about 15 to 20 minutes until I try sipping again. This may be TMI but I have gone #2 maybe like 4 times already and its been very watery. My incisions are starting to itch today as well (No drainage). I also have been cooking for my daughter and husband and it made me a little sad that I couldn't eat lol I have to keep reminding myself that this liquids stage is only temporary.

So I had surgery on May 15th! The day of surgery I was so excited that the day had finally come. I tried to take in the moment and remember as much as possible. Let me tell you as soon as that anesthesia is given to you it is LIGHTS OUT! The next thing I remember is waking up in pain, my throat was super sore and irritated (that didn't last long for me that pain was gone the same day). Then I knocked out again and when I did wake up I was already in my private room. My husband was amazing and super supportive and was like my own personal nurse helping me get out of the hospital bed to use the RR. The day after surgery I was able to drink Water but honestly did not want to. Days 1 and 2 were the worst. Mostly just pain and GAS PAINS( walking really helps)! I'm 3 days post op today and I honestly feel so great. No need for any pain meds and the incision sites themselves are just a bit sore. I'm drinking primer Protein Shakes, broth and crystal light. Tomorrow I'll try Jello but my main focus is the Proteinshakes. I go back to work on Wednesday and I feel completely okay to (desk job). Anyway that has been my experience so far. I hope everyone is doing well. And for those still waiting on surgery let me tell you it gets better. Just remind yourself that the the pain is only temporary.
