How often have you gotten sick?
Kimbero replied to MN_Meg770's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi there, I am 8 weeks post op. And I also was so concerned about getting sick, but I have been lucky so far. I really pay attention to my body, and know my limits. Getting sick was one of my biggest worries, and since everyone is different its really hard to say. But I hope you do great also, and you will learn your ever changing body too. Good luck. 4 weeks post op no appetite
Kimbero replied to Lifechanger61118's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am almost 7 weeks out, and still no appetite, i have to remind myself to take a couple bites or sips of something every couple hours just to make sure. So i keep yogurt, tuna, premier protein shakes, muscle milk, cottage cheese, mashed potatoes on hand at all times. Even surgar free popsicles. I add a scoop of whey protein powder also. Im getting between 400 to 500 calories a day. Your not alone. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using BariatricPal mobile app -
I have lost a total of 52 lb and feel great. I'm probably getting about 400 to 500 calories a day that seems a little low but I think each day it gets a little better. It's still hard to believe that it's been 6 weeks already I guess time flies when you're having fun. How's everybody else doing that had surgery in May. Hope everybody's doing good. Suggestions for new Pre-ops?
Kimbero replied to JessieGrace319's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi Jessie welcome to the group I am almost 6 weeks post-op had the gastric bypass and I absolutely love it I was also told by all of my doctors my surgeon my nut my primary care physician that I was a perfect candidate and that I would be very successful at it. So far I'm over 50 lbs down and thankfully has no issues with sickness, dumping, was in the hospital one night had surgery about 1 in the afternoon was home the next morning by 10 I have an office job so I took less than a week off my doctor said as long as I did not lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk I would be okay all of my wounds have completely healed and I have little bitty scars that you can barely see I have one scar that is a little larger than the other four. My suggestion is listen to what you're told read up on everything that you can and take it real slow I ask my surgeon why there were so many people that had issues whether it's be being able to keep food down keep water down not feeling nauseous and he just said that if you listen and don't overdo it you should be fine I am now able to eat soft stuff so mashed potatoes yogurt tuna ice cream anything that can pretty much dissolve oatmeal and about 2 to 3 bites and I'm full good luck to you on your journey and sorry this was so long Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using BariatricPal mobile app -

I also have a pain on my left side right below my breast, it felt like a tugging. It was bearable but still a pain. Mine lasted a few days, maybe 3 days nothing else going on, no nausea, fever, other pains. It did go away. I just figured it was still just part of recovery. I was about 2 weeks post op. Kimbero posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I weighted today and I am 40 pounds lighter [emoji6] I am super excited, and soooo glad I made the decision to have surgery. Meeting with my surgeon on Wed. So I hope he's as pleased as I am. I hope you all are doing great. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using BariatricPal mobile app -
Surgery was 5/29, so far great, no sickness, no pain pills needed. My surgical glue is already starting to peel off, i go back to work tomorrow. I've lost 31 pounds since my first day of my liquid diet. So 31 pounds lost in 21 days. I feel great, I have tried small bites of yogurt, mashed potatoes, refried beans, and sugarfree vanilla pudding. Nothing upset my stomach. Im still on liquid diet other then just a small bite here and there. Getting my water, and trying to get all my protein in daily. I love how I feel, im excited to see how the months to come go. Good luck to everyone on the pre op side, and good luck to us all on post op side. Keep us posted. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using BariatricPal mobile app

I am 15 days post op and I need something to drink other then Water, Flavored water, and Protein shake. I wish I was craving something but I am not. I just need something. I tried a sip of lemonade, milk, chocolate milk, Gatorade, and a strawberry slush. Nothing is satisfying, or seems to be what I want. Im so over water... Yep i love the popsicles, and yes i have the flavor packets for my water. I have tried so many flavors and yes the orange crush, and root beer taste like the soda but They get old quick, and the popsicle is not a drink, but yes i love the flavors. It just seems like those are still just flavors of Water...lol i know its weird, i have always loved water, and constantly eating ice it just seems even all the differences in taste they dont give me what im searching for. Im gonna try tea. And see if it helps. Oh im soooo thankful for this to be my biggest problem. Thank you shedo Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using BariatricPal mobile app

Returning to work? How soon? (Gastric Sleeve)
Kimbero replied to lbug's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have an office job. Not all sitting, not all standing. A little of both. I went back 8 days after surgey. The 1st day was a little rough, i was all alone in the office for 9 hours, but i survived. Every since then its been fine. So i would say it depends on what type of job you have. Hooe this helps Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using BariatricPal mobile app -
I told my boss the day i got my surgery date. And told her my surgeon said i would be off work appropriately a week as long as i dont lift anything heavy. It worked out great, had time to make sure my office was covered, i come back to work 8 days after surgery. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using BariatricPal mobile app

Hi Jessica, my husband works nights, so he was home but asleep but if i needed him he would wake up but thankfully i dudnt need help, i was told by dr not to lift anything that weighed more then a gallon of milk. So i was able to cook, do dishes, wash laundry small loads at a time, i was also able to drive as long as i was not on my pain pills so i went swimming with my daughters, and grand daughter, shopped. Just run around. I do not chew gum because tgey ssid it can cause u to have air in your belly so i didnt want that. My incisions have all healed, my glue has come off completely and other than sometimes a slight pain on my left side it feels great. I tgink it might still be a little swollen but im not sure, no head hunger yet. I havent really wanted too much, but i will say the 2 small bites of mashed potatoes tasted great. And mentally im great, i was kinda goin a little bit crazy wanting to go back to work, but knowing i didnt want to push too soon and end up back off. And as far as being tired not really. I know i sleep soooo much better now, and im able to pull 10 hour shift with out any problem. But considering being overweight for all those years i was really wore out but it was the norm for me so i never knew any different. Im not able to get 3 shakes down a day, but trying to sip thise and water thru out the day. Im going back to work tomorrow im ready. Lost 31 pounds total so far from start of liquid diet to today. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using BariatricPal mobile app -
Jessicajourney, yes 8 days off work. Im an office manager, so yes i get to sit some but will also be on my feet. I plan on taking it easy the 1st few days back. And yes trying just a small bite of soft stuff lets me test the water, to see what my stomach excepts and not. I had my pain pills prescription filled the day i got out of the hospital, but i havent had to take any at all. Im so thankful that its been this easy for me. Super excited for us all and our new journey Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using BariatricPal mobile app
