I'm 60. Anyone else over 50 doing RNY?
Julsg replied to Pam Peltz's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had at 55 one year ago. I lost 80 lbs initially and have gained back 5. The one year mark is hard. I feel I must watch calories or I will gain back. It’s not just about eating smaller portions. However I would do it again. I enjoy being a size 12 instead of a size 20, and I feel better. -

I had at 55. Lost 80 in first year. Now at 14 months and starting to gain. Want a tip...don’t rush to add back in alcohol. It only increases your desire to eat carbs. -
Fast heart rate

It can also be related to a heart rhythm disturbance called a fib. A fib can be related to electrolyte imbalance. I would definitely follow up with your physician if you feel it again. My friend had her surgery in January and had shortness of breath and rapid heart rate related to afib. She went to the er and was diagnosed and was discharged the next day. They also felt that dehydration played a part in it. She was cardioverted and feels much better. -
About 3 weeks for me. Now I am 4 months out and I fight it every day. I have lost 64lbs so I am headed in the right direction, but I keep reminding myself that it is only in my head. Now every time I start feeling it I get up and make myself a cup of hot tea. It does help!

I went back at 2 1/2 weeks. Wish I had come back 1/2 day for the rest of that first week back. I was exhausted by 1. Good luck!
