My story is not unique. My story is very similar to several account i follow. Nevertheless, my story is MY STORY and I am here to share it.
Growing up I was "big boned" as my mom would call it. I had a womanly figure by 16 and thought I was heavy and overweight 5' 6" at 145 lbs. I had curves that my friends didn't.
At age 17 I got pregnant, and had my first daughter (now 19) at age 18. At the end of the pregnancy I was around 180. All but 10 lbs can off. My second pregnancy I ended at 205, all but 10 lbs can off. My third pregnancy I ended at 230, and I never got back below 200.
Between my third and fourth pregnancy I became really conscious of my food and also became very active. It was the healthiest I had ever felt and I loved where I was at. My lowest weight was 207, but with the way I carry it, I looked really curvy and cute.
My last pregnancy I was 33 years old, and got up to 240. For 2 years I toggled between 210-240 back and fourth. Any diet I tried I could lose 20+ and slowly it would creep back up.
Then came a big car accident about a year ago. The accident injured my back (it still hurts daily) and limited my movement. I now sit at 289 lbs, size 2x 22.
My back hurts. My knees hurt. I have a skin fold over my pubic bone the never existed. It's hard to put my sock and shoes on. Intimacy feels pointless. My resting heart rate is over 100. My body goes numb when I sleep.
Last year I had three friends have various #bariatric surgeries. I decided at that point that I wanted to check it out. I made my mind up on going to Mexico for surgery since I had no health insurance. My surgery date was set for 12/27/17. While I was waiting and preparing my husband got a job with benefits which will now cover the surgery, so I decided to wait some more.
The program i have chosen requires a consult and 6 months of counseling and nutrition.
Here's to the beginning of a new me through weight loss surgery.
