Hey everyone! So, my surgery is February 22nd and I start my liquid diet on February 15th. I have a few questions about the liquid diet: • How many grams of sugar, protein, and carbohydrates are we allowed to eat in a day? On the pre-op liquid diet sheet I was given, it said that we can have sugar free popsicles and sugar free fudgicles; however, I noticed that the "sugar free" fudgicles had 5 grams of sugar (on the box, it said no sugar added). Would I still be alright in eating them or should I refrain from eating them? • Can I drink almond milk? • Can I have sugar free pudding? My mom had weight loss surgery almost two years ago and when she was doing the liquid diet (she had to do it for two weeks), she was allowed to have sugar free pudding. • One of the brands of protein powder I have says that it has less than 10 grams of sugar and carbohydrates; can I still use this brand of protein powder or should I use something else? I have another brand of protein powder that I have that has no sugar. Sent from my SM-G935V using BariatricPal mobile app

February Surgery Buddies!

My surgery is on the same day! But I don't start my liquid diet until the 15th. -
During lunch time today, I got a call from the patient coordinator/patient navigator at my surgeons office saying I was approved for surgery! My surgery is scheduled to take place on February 22nd, 2018 at 7:30 am and I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 am. I don't start the liquid diet until a week before the surgery. However, I have to eat smaller, healthier meals for two weeks before I start the actual liquid diet. I started the eating the smaller, healthier meals on February 1st; so, I have another week of eating the smaller, healthier meals before I start the actual liquid diet. They did the opposite for me. They scheduled me first and then I had to wait to be approved. Sent from my SM-G935V using BariatricPal mobile app

February Surgery Buddies!

My surgery is February 22nd! -
My weight loss surgery is scheduled for February 22nd and it will be the first time I'm going under general anesthesia. I'm not scared about the surgery itself; I'm more anxious, scared, and nervous about the anesthesia. I know I shouldn't be fearful about being put under, but I can't help it. I think I'm scared that I won't wakeup or I'll wakeup during the surgery itself or I won't be knocked out at all. I feel kinda of stupid to be feeling like this. What is it like being put under anesthesia? I think knowing other people's experiences will put me at ease somewhat. Sent from my SM-G935V using BariatricPal mobile app

I'm supposed to get the duodenal switch surgery soon, but I had a few questions. Is the surgery done in all at once or in steps? I also read online that those who get the surgery also have their gallbladder removed; is that true? The doctor that's doing the surgery didn't really say if he was doing the surgery in stages or all at once. I'm assuming that he is doing the surgery all at once.
