February bypass buddies?
Ready_4_Relief replied to RunningLibrarian's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Thanks! -
I was worried about what everyone els would think so I decided to keep the amount of people I told to a minimum, however I do get many questions about my clothing being big and my face slimming out. Because of this I stopped posting pics and kind of stay in the house. Don't worry about the scale, it will drive you nuts! If you're concerned with not losing weight or the scale not changing just remember 60 grams of protein and 64 oz of water. Also depending on how far along you are post op you may need to take in more calories. I completely understand how you feel thinking about food. Figure out when you think about it and replace it with a game or anything that changes your thought at the time. Good luck!

February bypass buddies?
Ready_4_Relief replied to RunningLibrarian's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hello, I am not a bypass person yet but Ive had the sleeve. I'm currently having issues with it and the doctor said if my stomach doesn't heal the right way or if it has created an "L" shave versus a "C" shape I will have to get the bypass. I'm nervous. If I do have the bypass it will be the end of this month. I'm super nervous! -
How are you feeling now? I was doing so well but now into my 6th week my stomach began rejecting everything, including water. I have to get fluids and vitamins through a picc line that was placed in today. Doctor wants me to have it for a week to see if my stomach will heal better without anything in it. He then proceeded to tell me if it doesn't get better I will have to have the bypass surgery. I'm super nervous!

I wonder why the stall then. I haven't been on a scale since my first appointment after surgery and I think I'm going to keep it this way so I don't drive myself insane if I stall lol. I hear most people stall but they usually break out of it. Good luck to you. Hopefully your progress will start again soon.

anyone have trouble sleeping after WLS?
Ready_4_Relief replied to Losebig's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my surgery 12/21 and had trouble sleeping. After the holiday break I had to return to mommy duties 1/4. Getting up at 5:30 am and dealing with 4 children because my fiancé worked overtime since I had to take off killed me. -
How is your protein and water intake?
-
All of those are things they say don't do, I can't imagine the pain you were in doing them all at once. Be careful because you can stretch your stomach out. Good luck on your recovery.

I had my surgery 12/21 and I am experiencing the same issues. My doctor told me yesterday to back off solids and drink liquids for a week to see how that feels. He said my stomach may just be irritated still. I also don't have an appetite but the doc said that was okay as well, as long as I get my protein and water requirements in. It does get better though.

I did really well the first 4 weeks and now that I have started my 5th I am experiencing the same issues. Yesterday my doctor put me back on a liquid diet for a week to see how that goes. He said my stomach may need a rest.

I still had nausea at that time and I completely understand how you feel. I have children as well and it is nice that they're old enough to help around the house. Don't stress yourself about a messy house, that is the luxury of having children and theres a big difference between messy and nasty. Let yourself relax. I think many of us went through the regret stage after the surgery so you aren't alone. The thought of looking good in my wedding dress didn't even make me happy lol, which is what my fiancé tried to make me feel better with. But we are here if you'd like to vent. Have a good day

Has anyone else experienced canker sores in their mouth after surgery? Ive never had them until now. I'm 4-5 weeks post op and have had 3 within the past week.
-
Also check your calorie count. Some things you intake may be high in protein and calories. My doctor told me don’t take in the calories just so I can reach my protein mark. Just drink instead.
-
It’s crazy lol. You’d think things would run smoother because the lack of food.
-
Many people said they have gotten them after surgery. I wonder what the cause is, I’ve never had them before.
-
No. I can’t. Not just because surgery but I have HPylori. So I avoid it as much as I can.

Hello, I am 4-5 weeks out from surgery and I can't keep anything down, solids or liquids. I have also been experiencing constipation, could this be why?

Can't Keep Anything Down

Just remain positive and make sure you get enough protein and water. I think a lot of people stall a little bit, but it should start coming off again.

Can't Keep Anything Down

Water is about the only thing I can keep down. My doctor says constipation is normal because the lack of fiber/etc. I’m not sure what changed, I was doing so well. I think I am going to step back from solids and try soups again to see if that will help. -
Try Protein20 its very low in calories and it doesn't taste bad. They have many different flavors.

Feeling Emotional
Ready_4_Relief replied to I'vebeensleeved's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I went through it, and a few of my peers have gone through it as well. I had to be admitted back to the hospital due to dehydration and I instantly regretted the surgery. They say rapid weight loss and changes in your diet also change your hormones as well. Just be strong, you'll get through it! -
Thanks, I have taken some Miralax so I'm hoping it will help soon!
-
Yeah thats what the vitamins are for. Thats odd you were dehydrated from lack of food and you have high fluid intake. That was probably my issue as well.

I have found myself nauseous as well. The doctor told me at my 2 week appointment not to worry about food and focus on my liquids. I found a low calorie protein drink that I found my system likes. Its called Protein20. I think dairy is what many of people have a difficult time with. I know I did.
