    Measuring Food

I find its much easier and more accurate to used a food scale. I'm 7 months PO and normally measure out between 120 grams - 150 grams of food per meal; however, In saying that it depends on the density of the food I can eat more of some foods than others. 99% of the time I'm lucky to be able to get through 100 grams (3.5 ounces). This morning I had 1/4 cup of oats (over night oats) with 10 grams of peanut butter 1 strawberry and 10 grams of blueberries and was able to finish it, however i had the same yesterday and could only finish half. Whatever I'm doing it must be working! I've lost 154 pounds in 7 months! As my dietitian says everyday your restriction will be different, its important not to focus on what others can eat over what you can eat plus if your not throwing up or getting pain it means your not over eating.
  2. Hi all, I’m currently 7 months post op, and wanting to know what everyone’s meals are like quality and quantity wise this far PO. I believe I’m still eating very small for someone this far out. I’m having 4-5 small meals a day 4-5 ounces roughly 120 grams. A normal day for me consists of multiple cups of coffee with skim milk 300-500ml of skim milk a day. Breakfast: Oats with blueberries and strawberry Mid meal: Protein shake 20g protein Lunch: Meat and veggies 100-140 grams (Chicken, Fish, Prawns, Beef Tuna etc) Afternoon tea: 30 grams of nuts Dinner: Meat and veggies 100-140 grams (Chicken, Fish, Prawns, Beef Tuna etc) I’ve reached past my goal weight by 10kg so I’m more after the answer as to whether the amount I’m eating is sufficient enough (quantity). Cheers.

Everyone day eating habits 7-10 months PO

I work out 4 times a week and fairly active. I was originally eating 3 meals a day however my weight would t stop coming off so I had to up it. When I say I serve 100-150 gram meal I don’t consume all of that 90% of the time in luck to consume 90-100 grams of food at any one time. Calorie wise even when I was counting last month I was eating roughly 800 calories a day. If I were to eat any less how it would be too much.

10 months Post op: How much to eat?

Hi YandereAngel, I am currently 7 months Post Operative. The normal day looks like this: Morning- 2x Coffee with 150ml of skim milk Breakfast- 90 grams of Oats with Strawberry's and Blueberries averaging out to around 5 ounces Morning tea- Coffee with 100ml of Skim milk Lunch- 95 Grams of Tuna on 2 Vita-Weat biscuits Afternoon tea Coffee with 100ml of skim milk again and 30 grams of Almonds Min afternoon: Protein shake Dinner- Normally Meat and veggies max 5 ouces per serving. I consume around 800-1100 calories a day. I weigh everything to ensure I'm not eating any more than the required 5 ounces per meal. Some days I have a snack after dinner this is normally a piece of fruit or 5 ounces of yogurt. I am now at past goal weight so trying to maintain however its easier said than done I'm still losing.

    Question regarding Superannuation

Hey Josey27, That's great to hear, I was really worried that it would be a struggle to get it approved. I didn't know you could claim some through Medicare? how does that work? what is the process? I hope your weight loss journey is going great I look forward to hearing from you soon! Harley

    Question regarding Superannuation

Hey Rainbow_Warrior, I completely understand where your coming from, although the way I see it is I have been working 3 jobs over the past 5 years doing roughly 100-120 hours a fortnight and all of the work I have done my employer had obviously added to my super. I have friends that have been working in the same field for the same length of time that have $10-$15k less then what I do that is why I wasn't worried about accessing my super. The other thing I considered was a Loan but I have just purchased a property and I'm the only one working so getting a long when I am in debt already seems like to much to control and more hours I would need to work to pay it off. The other thing is the fact that I Can't access my super until I'm 67 it is ridiculous, I have never liked the way the Government has restricted Super hence why I have purchased 2 properties and will purchase more to use as my retirement so I don't get told when I can access it. If I don't get this done I wont live till 67 anyway. Thanks for your advice it was much appreciated. Harley
